Yes, that is interesting. Vandenberg is a win and Mats Leven is a double win! We'll see. I'm optimistic. I'll take any excuse to post these Mats Leven/Gus G tracks again. I can't find "Down 2 Bizniz" by "Swedish Erotica" on youtube, but that is one of the alltime great Sleaze tracks.

Not a movie, but the last "scene" I watched. Just going down youtube rabbit holes, I stumbled upon this. This is the opening to a 1956 movie that I love along with the Star. I remember when you could count on one of this guy's movies being on most weekends. The title of the video probably gives it away, but watch until the end to see who it is. This is a killer movie intro for the time.

Laura Branigan - Gloria. I'm sure most of us here remember this track very well. A massive 80s international hit. It's been a while since I've heard it, but for some reason it's found it's way into the rotation of one of our radio stations in Melbourne and i've heard it about six times in the last two weeks. I didn't fully appreciate it at the time, but this is one great powerful vocal performance. The way the vocals build up is killer. She really did have an incredible voice.

Gee, I dunno mate. They look like surgically enhanced tranny tits and I think the rough head confirms it. For the love of God, if any thread deserves stringent quality control, then it's this one. I'm not upset, just disappointed.

Tears for Fears - The Tipping Point
Darkstone replied to KarpetRydOFunk's topic in Other Music Styles
Not something I'll pursue, but it's great to see them making music again. "Shout", "Everybody Wants to Rule the World" and "Head Over Heels" were a huge part of the soundtrack of my life in the 80's. -

When you think about it, it's ironic that he achieved fame with a band called "Bush". I guess it's better than "Tuck".

A couple of my favourites from "Jettblack". These guys were always great value.

Yeah, it's not that different. Their Premier has been one of the biggest covid hardasses actually. Their isolation has meant that they have avoided high covid numbers, but if that changes, rest assured Mark McGowan, the Premier, will lockdown in a heartbeat like the rest of them. As for soccer games, I think you're friend may have been referring to the AFL Grand Final, which was held in Perth a few weeks ago for the first time ever because WA was the only State that could guarantee a capacity crowd.

The way things are going with SpaceX, Virgin Galactic, etc, he might still have a chance.

Absolutely 100% my favourite show ever. I used to religiously tape every episode and had about 20 VHS tapes full. Of course, I would watch as I recorded to skip the ads. I may have been slightly obsessed with Christina Applegate at the time TBH. I've seen clips from the UK version and yes, it's a spin out. There's actually many UK/US sitcom adaptations. Most are successful UK shows adapted for the US. Some fail miserably. "Fawlty Towers", "Red Dwarf", "Men Behaving Badly", "The IT Crowd". Some are hugely popular, "Man about the House"/"Three's Company", "George and Mildred"/"The Ropers". "The Office" has probably been the most successful. On the same theme, there's also many international versions of "The Nanny". The Turkish one is also a spin out.

Welcome aboard mate.

I agree 100%. I just remember being blown away when I first heard it. At the very least it's an interesting piece of trivia.

101 Ballads of the Glam Metal Era from 101 Artists
Darkstone replied to auslander's topic in Music Polls and "Best of" Lists
You seem to be hedging your bets with #30. "Love of a Lifetime" or "Hold the Dream"? Personally, I'd go with "Hold the Dream".- 10 replies

Apparently, he was in a long term Husband/Wife style relationship with Marilyn.

I was talking about his pre Stefani personal life. Here's a clue.

That "Bush" album wasn't too bad. "Comedown" is a great track. If you're a fan though, don't delve too deeply into Gavin Rossdale's past. It gets ugly.
-
Great album. I've always loved this track.

What was your gateway band/album?
Darkstone replied to SunsetHoliday's topic in General Music Discussion
Good question. For me, it was probably Suzi Quatro. My Mum had her first two albums, so her songs and image are very early memories for me. The clip for Roger Glover's "The Butterfly Ball" was played every day on early morning childrens television when I was pre school age, so I was exposed to RJD's voice very early on and developed an addiction ever since. -
Now you've got me in a Lizzy Borden mood. Fuck, I love these guys.
-
Whenever I think of Lizzy Borden, this great cover comes to mind. Full credit to martinsane for the OP. LBD are a great band BTW.
-
Yeah, love Lizzy Borden. Underrated, I think.
