  1. "e=mc2" is a well known and established equation. Here's another, "Hall&Oates=80'sPopRoyalty". End of.
  2. A YouTube video posted yesterday that fits nicely into this thread.
  3. Nice one mate. I saw "Bachelor Party" 3 times at the cinema when it was released in '84 and many times on VHS back in the day. It was my "Citizen Kane". An early Tom Hanks Masterpiece! My first exposure to a pre 'Whitesnake" Tawny Kitaen Co Starring was a nice bonus. I always think of it when I hear this track.
  4. Here's another random mix of 6 that highlight the great diversity of 80's Pop Music. I've added the obligatory Aussie track, what is arguably the best Bryan Adams track and a cover track featuring the original Artist that may be the best cover track ever.... Maybe?
  5. "XYZ - Hungry" is another one for me, for sure. Also, I know I'm a fan, but the self titled second album by "Lynch Mob" from '92 is another no skip gem IMO.
  6. In 1989, Legendary Aussie muso, Ian Moss (Lead Guitarist and Co Singer of Cold Chisel) released a solo album, "Matchbook", that is an absolute AOR hidden gem. These two tracks are pure class, back when this stuff was considered "Pop" music and received massive radio and TV airplay. I really miss those days.
  7. There's a handful for me, but the two that come instantly to mind are, Lynch Mob - Wicked Sensation (of course) and, Winger - Pull
  8. Great album, along with their previous work. I was just about to create my own thread on it, when I discovered this one, so I have to post these two Killer tracks here (the two best from the album IMO), to follow site protocol. I also noticed that these guys aren't in the HH database. Whiplash?
  9. Classic track, but apparently the "Doomsday Clock" ticked over recently. "90 Seconds To Midnight" doesn't quite have the same ring to it as a song title.
  10. Yeah, classic stuff. I always thought that they were inspired by "Spinal Tap", but I found out fairly recently that they actually predate Spinal Tap by a year.
  11. Nice one. A very worthy tribute.
  12. I can't say I've heard "Red Sea". They're listed on the HH database, I'll have to investigate. Cheers. I'm still on the lookout for the elusive two remaining tracks from "Zen Boy".
  13. The "Motels" are another band that just oozes 80's. I've cheated again by adding "Total Control" from '79, but fuck it. I'm sure the guys from my vintage will recognise these tracks. BTW, "Take the L" is one of the best songs of the decade, without doubt. That's why I posted it twice. The sound quality on the video wasn't the best, but I still had to post it. I've also posted the successful single "Don't Tell Me the Time" from the 1987 Martha Davis solo album. All of these tracks are massive time machines for me.
  14. That track's okay. Still looking forward to the album though.
  15. Here's a selection from "The Cars". Another band synonymous with the 80's. I've cheated a bit by posting "Let's Go" from 1979 (maybe a 70's Pop song of the day thread is on the cards). I've also added Ric Ocasek's Killer solo track, "Emotion in Motion" from '86. Let us also not forget that Ric Ocasek was married for 30 years to Sports Illustrated/Super model Paulina Porizkova. Another of life's mysteries that I struggle to come to terms with.
  16. An absolute classic and iconic track. I wonder how many people know how profound it is. I love it when myth and legend combine with popular music or music in general.
  17. Another great Aussie track. That's right, Aussie track! No New Zealand connection at all.
  18. You can't get more 80's than "Adam and the Ants". I think I've already made the joke about how adamant, Adam Ant was about his image, so I won't do it again.
  19. As Cap says, here's another "totally random mix" of 6 of the best. What a decade in music the 80's was. The last track is my obligatory Aussie track. An absolute Aussie classic that has nothing to do with New Zealand whatsoever!
