  1. Predictably terrible in my opinion. I can see Bon Jovi inviting Justin Beiber on-stage to sing along to this one when they're in his hometown (wherever that is). Listened to Slippery again last night. It still rules.
  2. No offense as I'm a fan, and have been since the 80's, but Treat doesn't really have a legacy to protect, do they? I mean we (on this site) love them, and I'm sure they were big in Scandinavia back in the day, but they're not Def Leppard (for instance). I mean they didn't have vids in constant rotation on MTV, they didn't grace the covers of Circus or Hit Parader Magazines, and I never heard Dick Clark talk about them Again, not saying they weren't (aren't) great, but the legacy thing is a bit of a stretch in my opinion. Now, wanting to go out on top... that's a cool gesture I suppose. I mean COUP really was (is) fantastic and I NEVER imagined Treat would come back so strong... and I don't think I'm alone with that assumption....but they certainly proved me wrong! Sad we won't have the opportunity to hear another full-length, new album.
  3. "ANOTHER DAY" is pure PURRRRfection. Whatever happened to "The Cat" anyway? Used to see her comments on the main site all the time back in the day.
  4. I was one of the biggest Bon Jovi fans on earth from 1985 (after seeing them open for Ratt) through KEEP THE FAITH in 1992 / 1993... But for the most part, Jon and the band lost me after that. Sure, they'd tease me every once in a while with an awesome tune like ALWAYS, or IT'S MY LIFE or WE WEREN'T BORN... but unfortunately, the other nine tracks per album were usually quite bad in my opinion, and certainly nothing like the Bon Jovi I grew-up listening to. Fall 1986 - Fall 1987 was one of the greatest 12 month periods of my entire life, and SLIPPERY played a HUGE role in that... and I will be forever gratefull. But now???? I don't think Jon cares about his 1986 fans any longer... save for those making huge donations to the DNC.
  5. Just ordered WANT SOME MORE from FNA. I've been a fan since late summer of 1992 when I walked into Tower Records in Portland, Oregon looking for Angel City - Face To Face on CD. My girlfriend at the time was perusing the shelves when she held-up a copy of Roxy Blue - Want Some and I purchased the disc right then and there without hearing a single clip, based solely on the front cover... Proved to be a wise decision I've all but worn out that CD during the course of the past 20 years. I bet that CD got more play from 1992 - 1994 than any other disc in my entire collection. I've been waiting for this release the better part of the past two decades. Not overly hyped with a live CD as I already own a nice soundboard recording, but the previously unreleased studio tracks... I'm all over those like flies on a ribroast!
  6. I don't know what is your favorite style of rock, but for me this is a Melodic Masterpiece ! I understand where you're coming from, and there's certainly a lot more members on this site in your corner than in mine concerning W.E.T. Not sure what it is to me... I don't know, a bit too "modern" sounding I guess. I've been spinning the new Lionville CD the past few days, and THAT is a masterpiece for me. Sounds like 1986 all over again. I'm just not much for change, I suppose
  7. I never got into W.E.T. Not that I don't like JSS, because I do, but the debut just didn't hit home for me. Funny how some strike a chord, and others do not. I'm happy for all the W.E.T. fans out there, however.
  8. Listened to this one at least (6) times completely through over the weekend, and it is DAMN GOOD! Dare I say, the greatest "Break-Up" album of the past 25 years. I mean just about every song is a gut-wrenching tale of lost love. This one would have been PERFECT for me in 1989... but that's a long story requiring a multitude of alcoholic beverages to tell properly
  9. My God, are we still talking about this one three years later? GOOD, WE SHOULD BE!
  10. Okay, this is one awesome slab or melodic AOR. Believe it or not, "Waiting For A Star" might be the album's shining moment. This one is REALLY good!
  11. I remember joining ebay in 1997 when it was pretty much brand new and thought it was literally the greatest thing since sliced bread (and it was). Unfortunately, customer service at ebay / paypal is now laughable at best, but remains the ONLY place in the entire world to find certain items. I'd love to say ****-it and never go back, but I can't. Yes, I realize that's hypocritcal, but at least I'm being honest. I have changed buying and selling habits dramatically, however (don't sell much at all anymore) and don't buy from sellers I haven't purchased from previously without at least one email first. It used to be so fun and easy... like a ripped jeans and t-shirt on-line swap-meet. Now it's all suit and tie and little more. But if I'm looking for a 1982 Panasonic RQ-WJ1 cassette player, where else am I going to find one?
  12. And this is why ebay / paypal sucks now (in my opionion). Problem is, I have no other choice but to keep buying and paying there. Threre's really no other option for older stuff (music and non-music related). I buy from NEH and Amazon, etc. as much as I can, but if I'm looking for the original West Germany pressing of Kayak's Greatest Hits, or a NOS, original Hackey Sack made in Haiti in 1982, there's really only one place to go (unfortunately).
  13. Jsut pre-ordered this one (along with Adrenalin - Road Of The Gypsy) from NEH. Gonna be a fun lead-up toward Christmas musically.
  14. Been a fan of Dan Reed Network since nearly the beginning around late 1986, early 1987 (pre Mercury / PolyGram debut) as I'm from their hometown of Portland, Oregon and they got a LOT of run around these parts back in the day. A cooler bunch of dudes you will not meet. Dan Reed, Dan Pred and Blake Sakamoto still live here in town and have been on-stage together a few times (but not as the Network, unfortunately). If anyone needs a copy of the 1997 Generator CD with Pred and Blake (and Reed's good buddy and current traveling musician partner Rob Daiker) let me know. It's a really good slab of 80's minded, but more current (current in 1997) hard rock. Very difficult to find as it was a local / indie release only. The CD was "re-issued" under the name SLOWRUSH, but the record company made a LOT of changes, and pretty much gone was the 80's minded stuff (still good, however).
  15. I'm usually VERY tuff on old artists trying to recapture past glory... not as though that comment really applies to Jamison, but I think you get the idea. That said, the first half of this new CD is as good as anything I've heard the past 20 years. I was a bit disctracted while trying to multi-task and listen to the second half of the album, so I'll give it another shot tonight.
  16. Does Yesterrock sell through on-line retailers such as NEH, or will I have to order directly from their site?
  17. I'm all over this one like flies on a ribroast. I have the IRON EAGLE CD soundtrack, and original Adrenalin vinyl, but I've been looking for a CD reissue for a long time, now. Maybe Yesterock (or the like) can finally nab BILLY THE KID and reissue that one on CD, too???
  18. Love me some Tommy Shaw, but Steve Perry was the Phoebe Cates of AOR. Many have tried, but no one will ever grace the diving board with such bravura.
  19. Received my CD from the good people at NEH yesterday, and I must say I was VERY happy. No, it's not Double Eclipse, but I try to keep reminding myself it's 2012 not 1992, and a LOT of things have changed the past 20 years. The first two tracks from DANGER ZONE are damn-near as good as anything Gioeli has ever recorded in my opinion... right up there with Hot Cherie, Rhythm and Doctor. Overall, the album falls a "bit" flat for me after the first two tracks, but it's certainly not bad (in fact, quite good). If all 12 songs were as good as the first two, we'd have been looking at a certified monster. To his credit, Gioeli sounds as fresh and strong today as the first time I heard him some twenty years ago. Maybe a quarter-step lower on the musical scale, but still a voice that Joe Elliot, for instance, would kill for. My rating, 89%, or a strong B+ Would have been higher save for the fact that, as per modern standards, the recording is maximized, squashed, and levels boosted to so far into the red that it's incredibly fatiguing when played back through a higher end system. Perfect for the iPod generation, however.
  20. Surprisingly good samples, and I ordered the CD from NEH earlier today. However, this really is not Hardline any longer.
  21. Would have fit nicely on the Blue Tears debut, no? Speaking of Blue Tears, I had the wonderful opportunity to meet Michael Sweet from Stryper a couple weeks ago and I asked him about Greg Fulkerson... he had nothing but great things to say about him.
  22. Okay, so I've known (about) Tony for a long time... his early 80's stuff (Island Nights) is great, but prior to stumbling across this one today, I never knew he was capable of recording such a perfect AOR anthem. Please let me know if anyone has any ideas, and check out the track here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=49xBcgaGQVI&feature=relmfu
  23. Bought the tape my senior year of high school (late 1985 or sometime in 1986) after seeing the ad in Circus. Been a fan ever since.
  24. I'm one of those "If it ain't broke don't fix it" guys who wishes Bon Jovi was still churning out hit's such as Living On A Prayer. But that's an entirely different topic we could debate until the cows come home. Perhaps another day... With that in mind, I ask y'all this: What 80's band(s) (album or song({s}) has / have done the best job re-capturing their vintage sound and style at any given point of time? Def Leppard did a good job with with entire Euphoia album, Bon Jovi has done a great job with a few songs here and there (It's My Life, We Weren't Born, etc.) and Journey has released a few awesome tracks along the way that could have fit onto Escape, for instance. Many bands have tried, but not that many have succeeded in my opinion. So, give me your list... maybe I've missed a few along the way.
