  1. Honestly, it boggles the mind. That's the whole purpose of the "good/bad sellers" thread, isn't it?
  2. Can't wait to hear this one! http://www.sleazeroxx.com/news/00481.shtml
  3. So it's been almost a month since the auction closed & still no money? Can't say that I'm surprised. But it sounds like you're doing the right thing in requiring him to pay with a money order. Keep us updated.
  4. Dream Theater hasn't released any "lemons" in my book, & Six Degrees Of Inner Turbulence is a friggin' masterpiece.
  5. This is complete & utter bullshit. They tried to pull that crap with me regarding the Slam Alley cd (CDR). The responses you got from them are almost verbatim to the ones I got when I called them out for trying to pass off CDR's as silver pressed cd's. Anyone who hasn't had their head up their ass for the past 10 years knows the quality of silver pressed cd's isn't close to silver pressed discs. They must have a token reply they cut & paste whenever someone complains. It's too bad really, since they do have some cool stuff I wouldn't mind having. But I won't support a label that makes a living off pulling the ol' bait & switch.
  6. You got my vote, good sir!
  7. Where's the other post...link?
  8. Knowing the way Gene is, I'm shocked he didn't sue the pants off Hannah Barbara...
  9. Cockroach is the shit...hands down the best thing they've ever done.
  10. But you could claim that of every band that anyone on here says are overrated or shit, whether it be Journey, Poison, Bon Jovi, Nickleback or whoever is currently under the microscope. To Geoff and many people they are overrated, so by the same definition you cant claim them to not be overrated if many people hate them with what they think is good reason. As you say, its all a matter of taste, but I do agree with Geoff that reviewers will often overlook flaws in an album if they are particular fans of a band. While I will be the first person to say a song by Motley Crue isnt up to snuff, at the same time I will probably give them more leeway than I would with another band, just purely because they are one of my favourite bands. Yes, a turd is a turd, but I think diehard fans tend to be a bit more generous with bands they like, sometimes convincing themselves that a mediocre or good song is better than it is. Yeah OK, I guess to a person who doesnt like a certain band then yeah, by definition to them the band is overrated. I cant vouch for Andrew, but I would hope that most reviewers are honest and fair in the summation of an album no matter what the band is. There is no way I would give favour to a band I like. As you say a turd is a turd and I would rightly comment on that on this board. In terms of the 100% rating that Andrew gave to the last Journey album, I genuinely feel that he truly loves that album.....its as simple as that. I mean can he really claim to be that close to the band after the falling out they had over the JSS affair?? I dont think so?? Cheers Not to stray off topic here, but when you say "they" do you mena Andrew & Journey? What's the story with that? I remember when it was announced that JSS was the new singer, then all of a sudden he wasn't. I'd love to know the story behind that. I even read somewhere that Soto was given some hush money to keep quiet on what went down.
  11. Just listened to this in it's entirity yesterday, & I must say that Andrew was smoking crack when he rated this album. Either that, or he's one of these die hards that thinks anything that Journey releases is phenominal. This is a good AOR album (a heavy AOR album at that), but it's not a good "Journey" album. Other than 1, maybe 2 tracks, there's nothing on this album that sounds like Journey to me. AOR fans will dig it...Journey fans, probably not.
  12. Damn...thought a lot more people would be into this. Maybe this will convert a few:
  13. Just listened to this album today & it's smokin'...the production is top notch & the songs are great. A worthy follow-up to "This Is Thirteen", which was a good album in & of itself. And no, they don't need to practice more.
  14. The samples I've heard sound like the songs could've come off Play Deep or Bangin'...very retro sounding, but in a good way.
  15. Not sure if there are any other fans on the board, but for those who care the official release date has been announced as 6/28. I for one can't wait. This band has always been a guilty pleasure of mine, & the new stuff sounds great! Hunt around their site & there are several samples posted: http://www.theoutfield.com/index.html
  16. I don't like 'em (BMG/Columbia House versions), but I don't think I'd get in a twist over a $3 cd. Now if I spent 20-30 bucks, that would be a different story. Water under the bridge now, but maybe you could've suggested that if the buyer was willing to post positive feedback, you would've been willing to issue a refund (that is if you're that concerned about a negative). But like Tony said, if you have a ton of good feedback I wouldn't sweat a negative from an asshole buyer every now & then.
  17. That's kick ass. Love it when the scamming bastards out there get what's coming to them. You must have gotten to talk to someone at paypal who actually speaks english. Half the time I get some outsourced middle eastern idiot.
  18. I've always pictured a big meeting of the various major label heads, circa 1992, going something like this: Exec #1: "OK, fellas, so what have we got as far as hard rock/metal this year?" Exec#2: (Makes jerking-off hand motion) "Dude, we got nothin'. Motley hired some guy with black hair and piercings all over his face to replace Vince. He scares the girls. Metal Edge won't even give us a pinup. And Poison replaced C.C. with that Richie Kotzen guy. (Chuckles) Good luck with THAT." Exec #1: "I feel ya. Do you know how hard it is to convince radio stations that Kik Tracee really have something to say to America's youth??" Exec#3: "Guys, I've been trying to tell you for months now. Have you heard this? (waves copy of Nirvana's NEVERMIND) Geffen's making money hand over fist on this stuff!" Exec #1: "Interesting. Tell us more." Exec #3: "Well, y'know, all the old guys - Motley Crue, Poison, Cinderella, yadda yadda yadda - they're just money pits at this point. They have entourages, girlfriends, hangers-on, drug dealers, they need makeup people, wardrobe assistants, special effects guys, what have you. But these grunge dudes are happy to just drive around in a sh*tty van, playing dump clubs on crappy equipment, wearing clothes from the thrift store. All we have to do is buy'em some new guitar strings once in a while and they're thrilled. It's pure profit!" Exec #2: "I hear they're all hooked on heroin too. So hey, that means they'll probably all be dead before they can complete their five-album deal." Exec #1: "OK, you've convinced me. What do you say, lets' suck Seattle dry and let the L.A. guys wither away on the vine. Now c'mon, let's wrap this up, I'm late for the fitting for my new hot tub." (All three execs do a happy dance, exit boardroom) Keith, this may be your funniest post ever...
  19. It's ok at best...not very Queensrychey sounding
  20. Samples are available on Amazon... http://www.amazon.com/Full-Circle/dp/B004ZQF5WI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1305070643&sr=1-1-catcorr From what I've heard they sound pretty damn cool. A little grittier, but a lot more "umph". I'll be picking up a copy as long as there is a physical release & not just mp3.
  21. Forgot about Whitecross...that was really good, too. Yeah, that would be killer if a live disc from back in the day accompanied the releases. Surely Firehouse has the tapes from that pay-per-view special when the played with Warrant & Trixter back in '91 (I think). I've got a dvd of that show & Firehouse was great!
  22. Guess I'm the only one who likes this idea. Loved it when Testament & Dokken did it recently.
  23. That sounds about right...everything I've heard about this guy is him trying to pull some shady stunt like this. I'd suggest calling paypal directly & have them look at the specific transaction where he refunded you your money & put in the notes section "here's your refund". You would think any dumb ass could make sense of the way he's trying to fuck you but then again, we are talking about paypal.
