  1. i would care the less if they stopped making cds.... Be nice George. ha, i was teasing mr. dom! actually it's difficulty to stop right now. i've been doing this for many years and life would be even more boring without this. but still vinyls>cds. I actually asked the guys the last time I was in Cheapo (before today) if they knew the local band Katella but it did not ring a bell. But I'll keep an eye out.
  2. I have to wonder if all the Cheapo stores went under. I was looking forward to stopping at the one in Moorhead, MN only to find that one too was shut down. Such a pity because I found so many goodies the last time I was in there. I think I'll make a trip to the St. Paul store location and see if that one is still open. I would think the Minneapolis one is still there considering the location and any time I am there the place has quite a few people. Then again, people like us live for the used cd and cannot figure out how a used cd store would close...meanwhile my buddies 18 year old boy probably doesn't know what a used CD store is. The last time I was in the Moorhead store it was packed. That's why I was surprised to see it was closed. Fargo has a Disc-Go-Round but that store has always sucked for some reason and I've never found anything good there. Plus, if they do find something they consider a "gem" they try to jack up the price to some unreasonable amount and I end up arguing with some snot nosed 17 yr old about their "policy", yet they keep plugging along. My brother lives in St. Paul, I should have him run me over to that store the next time I'm up there (if that one hasn't closed also that is). My work is only 5 minutes from the St. Paul store so I headed over there over lunch today. Thankfully it was alive and kicking with quite a few people. I took a gander through the New Arrivals and found a copy of UFO's Walk On Water. I noticed Rob Halford's Crucible for $3 but it looked beat up. They actually had copy of Dirty Looks Turn Of The Screw but it was $15 and a Columbia House issue. So nothing special found today but at least the store is still open.

  5. Did you know Harvey has 8 variant forms: Harv, Harve, Harvee, Harvie, Harvy, Herv, Herve and Hervey. It is pronounced HAR-vee and is of Old English and Old French origin, and its meaning is "eager for battle; strong and worthy". Variant of Herve (French). We expect nothing less than you to be ready for battle with this group of not many opinions (yeah right). With that I say welcome Harv!
  6. I vote no strong feelings about either. These "celebrity" deaths are over analyzed, over discussed, celibrated way too much on every TV channel, etc. They are people, just like you and I. Sure it is sad they passed on, but enough is enough.
  7. IE7 and IE8 are just fine....as is Firefox. I use both. With any of the 3 you get the tabbed browsing which is very useful. Things change but you'll get used to it. If not, I refer you to a book by Spencer Johnson entitled "Who Moved My Cheese".
  8. I hear ya. Last week I went to stop by the Cheapo disc store in Blaine, MN and they were doing construction work on the outside and the inside was empty. I thought to myself "WTF!"
  9. Did you know: Sir is an honorific used as a title (see Knight) and in several other modern contexts. It was once used (without the person's name) as a courtesy title among equals, but in common usage it is now usually reserved for one of superior rank or status, such as an educator or commanding officer, or in age (especially by a minor); as a form of address from a merchant to a customer; in formal correspondence (Dear Sir, Right Reverend Sir); or to a stranger (Sir, you've dropped your hat). Wikipedia tells more but all this leads me to believe that we should expect nothing but interesting and undisputed facts about our beloved music from you on this board. To that I say, welcome Sir.
  10. Jason McMaster - Let It Go (Def Leppard tribute)
  11. Agreed, but I also wondered if they sold them for $20 or even $25 would the bands make more money because they would sell way more shirts? I don't know but it seems to make sense to me. My brother in law would have grabbed a Priest shirt for $20 and I would have bought a Whitesnake shirt for sure...possibly a Priest shirt as well for a total of $60 for the bands. Instead we grabbed a couple of Grain Belt's and watched shows. Which by the way, I don't know if any of you seen this tour yet. I thought Coverdale's voice was on then off at times but he had a few humorous remarks for the crowd. "Give Me All Your Love", one of my favs, was great. For some reason the way Halford sort of sways backwards and forwards when he sings it just reminds me of Rainman.... "5 minutes to Wapner" Anyway, they were good but they didn't play a ton of classics.
  12. ...did the cost of a t-shirt reach $35?! I admit it has been awhile since I've wandered to the band merchandise booth at a concert but $35 for a regular t-shirt? I went to the Whitesnake/Judas Priest show in St. Paul Saturday night and thought it was time to add a shirt to the wardrobe. I figured maybe $25 at the most. No way I was shelling out $35. $20 for a stocking hat. World cotton shortage? Eh, whatever. Maybe I am living in the past. If I remember correctly I think I paid $20 for a Poison shirt in the late 80's.

  16. Yeah I know what you mean, I would really like to see them too. To bad they aren't going to be there... But I saw Firehouse back on April 10th, and they put on one of the BEST performances that I've seen...they still sound great live. I agree that Firehouse definately brings it when they perform but as Wes said, I'm disappointed that White Lion won't be there. But a few beers from the beerbarrow and I will get over it I brought the Mrs. to see Firehouse last summer at a local fair. She is not a rock fan or anything close to it but after the show even she said, "They were pretty cool!".
  17. The guy at the dance with the black dress shoes...that's how I groove to Dangerous Toys! I've only made it as far as the east side of W. Virginia for a short turkey hunt. I wished we could have stayed longer and seen more of the area. It was very scenic.
  18. I have not seen many of the cartoon movies, probably because we don't have kids yet, but Shrek is a good one. The donkey's great.
  19. The Mrs. brought home Paul Blart Mall Cop from the Red Box tonight. Just finished it. Some laughs I guess.
  20. Vain - No Respect I heard Aces on the RadioIO.com Hairbands channel a number of weeks back and since then I can't stop playing tunes from this cd.
  21. Everyone please stop replying to this topic so I won't get this horrible image in my head every time it pops to the top of the New Posts list? Awwwwwww, now I just sent it back to the top.
