  1. Quite frankly the term glam punk annoys me somewhat, as punk was not about a singular sound, it was about attitude and an image. If you listen to the true punk bands of the 70s, then you would notice that of the bigger bands, none of them even sound remotely similar. Some were sloppy, some were tight. Some were heavy, some were pop. If you take bands like The Sex Pistols, Ramones, Blondie, Siouxsie and The Banshees, Generation X & New York Dolls, and compare them to each other, there were very little similarities in their musical styles, yet were all classified as punk. Bands that came along later like Offspring and Green Day were certainly never true punk bands, as they never had the attitude which was key to being a punk. Many people have said over the years that the first Motley Crue album has a punk sound to it, but once again, if they think it was a punk sound, then they have no real knowledge of punk.
  2. As far as I know he hasnt been on one of their studio albums since Against the law. Tracy Ferry has been on the last two.
  3. The rule in the past was always to just post in the comments section that there was bonus tracks, and not resubmit the album, as there are so many reissues these days that the database would probably take forever to update.
  4. With the recent rise of 80s style rock/metal/glam artists like Airbourne, Jettblack and Reckless Love etc getting a good degree of media attention, it would be a perfect time for Deeds (Dirty or otherwise) to make a comeback of sorts.
  5. Personal faves are the title track, Slip it on, When it comes to love, Mother fucker, Fooled by a rose and Not even love. Initially I was take with Two hot girls, as well, but over repeated plays, it starts to pale in comparison to some of the tracks that were not as instant. For me the sign of a good album is that when you play it a second time, you remember some of the songs almost word for word, and this is one of those albums.
  6. Revolve is unofficially the last album we'll get from danger danger / d2. Wait, what? Why???????????????????? I asked Bruno at the recent melodic rock fest in chicago about when D2 plan on releasing thier next album was given a firm "never" & according folks that know him well, Bruno means what he's said due to stress he was under in completing "revolve" among other things. Westy also said there's no current plans for another D2 / danger danger album. Dude, this ruined my weekend! Seriously? Did he act like it was issues with Ted again? What stress...I don't understand. To "compose & record" another album amidst the odd gig & day jobs may be a tad harder than it makes out to be. Dont forget how late the album came out, if I recall correctly "revolve" was supposed to be out over a year before it got released. Ted pretty much said the same thing in an interview in Power Play magazine a few months back. He mentioned it very difficult to complete this one so he didn't seem to know or think that there'd be another one and it would be up to Steve and Bruno if there was. I say it's a damn shame since Revolve was sooooo good. At the end of the day, I am sure they said they would never work with Ted again after they fell out, and I know Ted was very bitter over it (just look at the cover of the live Bone Machine CD), but time heals old wounds. Just cause they felt that Revolve had been a tough album to make doesnt mean that given another couple of years, that they wont get the taste for it again. Just look at how many artists have retired from the business or touring because they state its all too much, and within two years or so are back out on the road or in the studio.
  7. I see it a bit differently, the one word abbreviations are fine. The initials are completely rubbish and D2 is about a million times worse. There are so many stupid abbreviations at work these days, maybe this one is the straw that broke the camel's back. In terms of annoyance, this is the HH forum equivalent to people on the football message boards I use who write 'loose' and 'loosing' when they mean 'lose' and 'losing'. (And I'm talking about British people with a British education.) They should be humanely destroyed. And the irony is that you call this the HH forum. There is a big difference between people using abbreviations, and people who cannot spell. I dont see your logic on that one. Eh? Only logic is that I hate both. That's all. As suggested in the thread subtitle, it wasn't meant to be anything profound. (I'm not suggesting people who say "D2" should be eliminated, it's just a personal choice, whereas "loosing" is just idiotic.) Yet, as I say, you have used an abbreviation for this forum, so I dont quite understand you dislike for abbreviating a band name. What is the difference?

  9. I seem to remember reading somewhere that this album was actually recorded in the late 80s, and was only released long after the band had split up.
  10. I like the abbreviation, D2, and certainly cannot see why it would annoy people. Its certainly no different to any other abbreviation, whether it be letters like PBF, GNR, EZN & DRN or single words like Maiden, Sabbath, Priest & Zep.
  11. I have to disagree on most of whats said above, as I feel Bret has written some truly great tunes over his solo career. I also like the fact he does some country stuff, as its better that he keeps it to his solo releases, but then again, we aint exactly getting any new Poison material anyway. I'd also make a slight correction, Driven is not a dance track, Go that far is. While for me, the only weak track is the aforementioned Go that far, and I couldnt give a rats arse if a lyric has been used more than once (you show me a rock band that hasnt reused a lyric a few times during their career), my biggest problem with this album is the same problem I have had with the bulk of Brets solo albums ... the fact that he keeps using the same songs over and over again. Instead of getting an album of all new material, we seem to always get a re-recorded version/remixed version or even a totally unchanged version of songs that have been on previous solo albums. Go that far, Rock n my country, Every rose (country version), Driven, I'd die for you & Open road have all been on previous albums in one form or another. Now if you take out those six and the second version of Nothing to lose, thats only five new tracks.
  12. Ceilings and walls suffered due to record label interference, with them trying to push him as a house wives favourite akin to Michael Bolton. Shine though, was an awesome return to his melodic rock roots, and am surprised that anyone could say it sucked.
  13. The first time I ever heard them was live, supporting Reckless Love, and they were great. The whole crowd was into them, even though the bulk of them had probably never even heard of them before that. I am looking forward to seeing them again almost as much as I am looking forward to seeing Reckless Love.
  14. Two hot girls will be their second single release. The four stand out songs for me are the title track, Two hot girls, Mother fucker and When it comes to lovin.
  15. According to their website, they will be back soon and have a link to a PDF file catalogue and say to place orders via email.
  16. Was finally able to afford the album yesterday, so ordered it from Amazon. Played it several times this morning, and its great. I love this line: I know she's your sister, but I can't pretend. When it comes to lovin', I have no friends.
  17. He married Suzette back in the 80s (she was the bands make up or costume girl if I remember correctly), and he even recorded the song You're not alone (Suzettes song) back on the You cant stop rock n roll album. This is them renewing their wedding vows when Dee was doing the Van Helsing thing.
  18. I got lucky today. The London Borderline gig went on sale last week, and sold out immediately, long before I got paid and could buy a ticket. On the off chance today, I checked out Ticketweb and found out its been moved to the Relentless Garage in Islington, and tickets are back on sale.
  19. Not sure if its the music or video: http://rapidshare.com/files/305292723/1995_-_Live_From_London.part1.rar http://rapidshare.com/files/305321142/1995_-_Live_From_London.part2.rar
  20. On the Friday it was Ugly Kid Joe instead of Crown Of Thorns, but apparently they were crap as well (COT were awful as most of their set they had Little Steven singing his songs, and he was terrible), as some friends of mine went on the Friday who were UKJ fans. Van Hagar were great, but Thunder were amazing, which was surprising as I never would have seen them as being the sort of band to excel at such a big venue. Of course, I later learned that they could put on a great show anywhere.
  21. From memory it was 3 nights at Wembley Stadium in 95. I have a feeling it was intitally two dates, that sold out quite quickly, so they added a third. I was at the Saturday one (where Crown of Thorns played instead of Ugly Kid Joe, and were truly awful), and I remember that the Jovi set went on for something like two and a half hours (I think Van Halen played more than an hour themselves). Look at that price. £21 for four bands at Wembley (Jovi/Halen/Thunder/Crown Of Thorns), and now the worst tickets at a Jovi gig are more than that. Still amazing live (possibly even better), but way overpriced.
