  1. Life is good, our boy Taylor arrived today, safe and sound. My wife is a total pro at this giving birth thing, I can't even begin to explain how proud I am of her.
  2. Average song, liked the first single better. This actually reminds me of Ana Johnsson's "We Are".
  3. I always liked these: Bon Jovi - Dry County Across the border they turn Water into wine Some say it's the devil's blood They're squeezing from the vine Some say it's a saviour In these hard and desperate times For me it helps me to forget That we're just born to die I came here like so many did To find the better life To find my piece of easy street To finally be alive And I know nothing good comes easy And all good things take some time I made my bed I'll lie in it To die in it's the crime You can't help but prosper Where the streets are paved with gold They say the oil wells ran deeper here than anybody's known I packed up on my wife and kid And left them back at home Now there's nothing in this paydirt The ghosts are all I know Now the oil's gone The money's gone And the jobs are gone Still we're hangin' on Down in dry county They're swimming in the sand Praying for some holy water To wash the sins from off our hand Here in dry county The promise has run dry Where nobody cries And no one's getting out of here alive In the blessed name of Jesus I heard a preacher say That we are God's children And He'd be back someday And I hoped that he knew Something as he drank his cup of wine I didn't have too good of a feeling As I head out to the night I cursed the sky to open I begged the clouds for rain I prayed to God for water For this burning in my veins It was like my soul's on fire And I had to watch the flames All my dreams went up in ashes And my future blew away Now the oil's gone And the money's gone And the jobs are gone Still we're hangin' on Down in dry county They're swimming in the sand Praying for some holy water To wash the sins from off our hand Here in dry county The promise has run dry Where nobody cries And no one's getting out of here alive Men spend their whole lives Waiting praying for their big reward But it seems sometimes The payoff leaves you feeling Like a dirty whore If I could choose the way I'll die Make it by the gun or knife 'Cause the other way there's too much pain Night after night after night Down in dry county They're swimming in the sand Praying for some holy water To wash the sins from off our hand Here in dry county The promise has run dry Where nobody cries And no one's getting out of here alive Bon Jovi - Right side of wrong. A friend of a friend needs a favor No questions asked, there's not much more to say Me and the wife, we need the money We've got four kids all hungry, one on the way Slip these sweat socks in your shirt and pray they think your packin' Be sure to keep your head down, don't look 'em in the eye And don't get fancy, Ricky, we ain't Jimmy Cagney Look at me, let's do the job and let's get home tonight [Chorus:] I got a half tank of gas and if we run all the lights We'll slip across the border on the wrong side of right And just like Butch and Sundance we'll ride until the dawn Sipping whiskey, singing cowboy songs On the Right Side of Wrong We picked a helluva of a night, from the shore I see the skyline In a couple of hours from now Rick, we're gonna get out of this life We'll stop for smokes, I brought a six pack, we'll stop at lookers on the way back Hell, we'll laugh this off, keep your fingers crossed that all goes well tonight [Chorus:] I got a half tank of gas and if we run all the lights We'll slip across the border on the wrong side of right And just like Butch and Sundance we'll ride until the dawn Sipping whiskey, singing cowboy songs On the Right Side of Wrong We'll make the grade, they'll know our names, I need a friend to drive here Wear my necklace of St. Christopher and talk to him while I go inside I'll take that suitcase, get the cash and we'll be gone before you know Wait until we tell the girls we're moving down to the Gulf of Mexico... [Guitar Solo] A friend of a friend needed a favor Life was just what happened while we were busy making plans We never saw nothing, there was a run-in .9 millimeter steel was coming for the windshield of that Oldsmobile As the cop said, "Show your hands!" [Chorus:] I got a half tank of gas and if we run all the lights We'll slip across the border on the wrong side of right And just like Butch and Sundance we'll ride until the dawn Sipping whiskey, singing cowboy songs On the Right Side of Wrong Pretty simple stuff I know, but I dig it. And, although it can be frustrating, some lyrics can really sound amazing without making much sense, like for instance Greenhouze - "Tall Grasses" (which I couldn't find the lyrics for on the web). And also The Ark - "Uriel" Uriel laughs, I'm drinking water Dressed in the clothes, that I have bought her She looks like a lamb, held up for slaughter She is my solemn skies' daughter But she's in the water, and I'm gonna find her Down at the bottom, she is alive Seagrass and bracken, is kissing her wavelet Down at the bottom, and wave their bye-byes You realize that I need comfort Words that are spells, laughter that's transport From day to day, when words are spoken When she laughs silence is broken But she's in the water, and I'm gonna find her Down at the bottom, she is alive Seagrass and bracken, is kissing her wavelet Down at the bottom, and wave their bye-byes This one's for you, good friend and brother If I would slip, if I would kill her Then take these words, spread them above her Tell her I never could love her 'Cause she's in the water, and I'm gonna find her Down at the bottom, she is alive Seagrass and bracken, is kissing her wavelet Down at the bottom, and wave their bye-byes Sheee.. Sheee.. ..is in the water, and I'm gonna find her Down at the bottom, she is alive Seagrass and bracken, kissing her wavelet Down at the bottom, wave their bye-byes Bye.. Bye.. And Andy Burrows - "Hometown" He's got his walls and his ways Waves are gone, he has his days Has a lot on his mind too bad He's only happy if he's sad He has his canons which he fires The only boy I know who cannot cry. I can see the ground I can't see you Can see our hometown I can't see you Leave the lights on when I go So I can watch you down below. He had his loves and his loss There were bridges he had to cross We have bridges that we burn And had so much we had to learn. He has his canons which he fires The only boy I know who cannot cry I can see the ground I can't see you Can see our hometown I can't see you Leave the lights on when I go So I can watch you down below. The only boy I know who cannot cry I can see the ground I can't see you Can see our hometown I can't see you Leave the lights on when I go So I can watch you down below
  4. Looking forward to this one. Initially release date was early March, so I guess they're re-recording the whole thing with the new singer.
  5. Loved the first two albums, and Hot Leg as well. The chorus in this song is absolutely horrible, hopefully the album will have some better tunes on it.
  6. Kinda Simple Plan-ish, good enough, nothing earth-shattering though.
  7. New Danish act Chainfist. Black Rebel Noise: There's an acoustic version of this being aired on Danish radio, which is really good, couldn't find it on youtube though. It's available through Spotify, Deezer and whatnot, so go check it out. 1000 Ways to Bleed:
  8. :-) this kind of music never goes out of fashion, and never fails to put a big smile on my face, good stuff.
  9. Sator-Headquake-1992 Little-Angels-Too-Much-Too-Young-1992 Sweet-Cheater - Eatin' ain't Cheatin' Three albums definitely worth checking out, they vary a lot in style though, but are all very good.
  10. Mmh, single is officially out, with Nolan on vocals.
  11. I'm pretty sure that's still Nolan singing on the video Stefan just posted. I wonder who'll be singing on the new album? A two version set like D2's "Cockroach" would be cool as hell :-)
  12. Looks like producer Marshal Dutton has taken over the lead-vocal duties, according to their FB page. Wonder who'll be singing on the new album, which is due March 3rd.
  13. Check out 'Rock n Roll Jesus', his finest album, with a lot of really strong songs.
  14. Sounds good, like most of the stuff he's been putting out since Rock n' roll Jesus.
  15. Sounds like something off the debut, which is fine by me :-)
  16. The solo vocals would improve this song ten fold. I was almost going to list it as one of the 3 songs by HEAT I dislike (instead of 2) because I absolutely hate that chanty viking chorus. HATE it. But jeez the verses are good. Sooo good. So it's hard to list it in my least favourite songs, but it possibly would be my 3rd least favourite HEAT song. Did I mention I hate that chorus? As for 'Shot at redemption,' no argument will ever sway me on that. I just think it's a dreadful song. Their whole discography is full of sing-a-long songs... only difference is most of them are good! And count me in as a lover of 'Downtown.' Absolutely love that song. Laughing at tomorrow has nothing to with a chanty viking chorus....its about the band singing together about a common theme....have you even read the lyrics? Nothing even remotely Nordic about the song. And as you say the verses are pure bliss....possibly the best verses on the album. I like it. Its not the best song on the album, but I always listen to it...never skip. And as I say it was one of if not the best song live and they finished with it....just a feel good song. Shot At Redemption has a quirky verse, but the chorus is pretty cool and the solo and post solo bridge absolutely smoke. Pure 100% HEAT imo I tell you what is an annoying HEAT song....Beg Beg Beg. Haha, "Beg Beg Beg" is actually one of my absolute favorites by the band. I agree that the chorus in "Laughing at Tommorow" is dreadful, sounds to me like soccer fans chanting away during a soccer game, just awful imo, and totally ruins the song for me.
  17. What is your least favorite then? 'High on love' and 'Shot at redemption' are literally the only two songs I dislike in the entire HEAT discography. Hate 'High on love,' only fractionally more than 'Shot at Redemption.' Neither are in the spirit of HEAT at all. High on Love?? What is that?? I actually noticed on the main site it's not even listed on the version of 'Freedom Rock' submitted to this site. So I guess for some regions it was a bonus track, but me, the poor bastard, I got it as track 12 on my version of 'Freedom Rock.' If you don't have it, just be grateful. It's shit. Even shitter than 'Shot at redemption,' which is saying a lot. Agree it's not two of their finest moments, but not bad tracks imo. The only two tracks I really dislike by the band are "Downtown" and "Laughing at Tommorow" Other than that they've only ever put out tunes that are from great to perfection imo.
  18. Favorite album is Dynazty - Renatus, second is H.E.A.T Favorite song is either "Salvation" or "A Divine Comedy" by Dynazty or "Mannequin Show" or "Emergency" by H.E.A.T Can't really think of any debut's at the moment, guess I haven't had the time to check too many out, but I'm definetly gonna check out Sunstrike, since two people already voted for it.
  19. Almost forgot: Skagarack - "This time of year"
  20. Perfect time to revive this thread. Some of my all time favorite christmas tunes include: Pretty Maids - In Santa's Claws The Darkness - Christmas Time D-A-D - Sad Sad Xmas Melody Club - I Don't Believe in Angels Wizzard - I Wish it could be Christmas Everyday Queen - Thank God it's Christmas Elton John - Step into Christmas Lona Lewie - Stop the Cavalry Bryan Adams - Christmas Time Darleens - It's Gonna be a Cold Cold Christmas Not all rock, just all good christmas songs :-)
  21. I actually enjoyed Michael Monroe's "Watcha Want" covers album, Vince Neil's "Tattoo's and Tequila" was allright too, other than that I tend to stay away from these records, as they're usually pretty dull.
  22. WHAT??!!! You guys are doing my head in this year. I had to ban myself from looking at that Winger thread because I'm sure people were just taking the piss. But now this? Arggghhh! Well I really dig those kind of fast paced rockers, like their cover of "Another Saturday Night" from the debut. Like Guns 'n Roses "Garden of Eden" or H.E.A.T's "Beg Beg Beg". Don't know if you can follow me here, makes sense to me anyway.
