  1. I used to like PBF quite a bit, but somehow over the years my liking for them has waned. I love sleaze glam ala Crashdiet and Crazy Lixx, but pure polished glam like PBF just doesn't do it for me any more. Chris
  2. Slaughter and Poison could only dream to sound as awesome as Baton Rouge. BR blow them both away. Not even in the same league! Can you tell I'm a huge fan They sound nothing like Poison or Slaughter. I really like the debut but they were never on the same planet as Poison or Slaughter. I think the record sells would show that too. Still, it's a very good album. With you on all counts here, Jarred. They definitely sound nothing like either Poison or Slaughter and imo both Slaughter and (of course) Poison are a million times better. As for the s/t, I always found it scrappy. It sounds like a jigsaw puzzle that was drunkedly put together and was never really meant to fit too well - definitely doesn't sound like a "band effort". Don't get me wrong, it's decent and the songs are okay... but it sounds like a bit of a mess to me. Have YOU been drinking today Geoff? Baton Rouge IS how hair metal is supposed to sound. "Scrappy, "drunkedly", a mess"....from what I've heard around here these words might describe your ex-girlfriends, but surely not the great and mighty Baton Rouge. Chris
  3. Whew, thought I warped back to 1989 there for a few minutes with that video. Definitely hair metal all the way. Chris
  4. THE SIGNAL--a crappy horror movie that somehow made it to theatres. Not even worth a rental. Chris
  5. I had this for a brief time, but have since gotten rid of it. There are several very catchy tracks though. Very young band too. I'd rather hear younger bands doing this kind of commercial rock stuff than trying to be the next Nsync. Chris

  7. Is it modern sounding (like Steve Brown's recent stuff), or traditional Trixter? I really want to hear it. Actually it rocks quite nicely on the Trixter side of the equation rather than Stereo Fallout. If the whole new album sounded like that one new track I just heard, I would be more than content. They've stuck to their roots a lot more than other bands who have tried coming back. Chris
  8. You can check out one of the new studio tracks on melodicrock's minibytes. Pretty cool stuff. Definitely got me psyched for a full new studio album. They haven't lost their touch at all. Chris
  9. Yeah, that's Jack Ponti for you. Once you've heard one of his lullabies you're pretty much heard them all. I've grown quite tired of his nursery rhyme chants through the years. Blasphemy Geoff...blasphemy I tell ya! Jack Ponti was one of the greatest song writers of that era. I love the fact that he wrote catchy sing along choruses. I wouldn't call them nursery rhymes. That does it, LOL
  10. Where did you find such awesome foreign titles? Chris
  11. I just sold a cd recently to e-bay user windsoreyes2. The paypal payment came from a Martin Levine. He hasn't left me feedback yet, but he did pay in a timely manner. Here's hoping I got lucky! Chris
  12. Man oh man...this is one of the hardest polls I've ever had to vote in. Baton Rouge is one of my all-time favorites and I consider each Baton Rouge album to be a masterpiece in its own right. I even just voted Kelly Keeling as my most favorite male vocalist in another thread. But, after careful thought, I decided to go with "Lights out in the playground". Such a variety of songs on that album and they're just about all awesome. Why can't these guys make a comeback like everybody else.....please, I beg. Chris
  13. Not bad, but not great either. Of course, I only heard like three sound samples. I was hoping for a bigger punch on the choruses. Chris
  14. Checked out the album preview on melodic.net. The first half of the album stream preview is so-so imo, but the second half of the samples did sound like the best stuff they've ever done. Dunno who produced the album, but I think they got some help this time. Looking forward to hearing longer clips. Chris
  15. The first couple sound similar to the old style.....but better. Then it kicks into overdrive. Some awesome sounding ballads towards the end. Lennie has been right on the mark on several other recommendations recently. I'm gonna have to check this one out tonight too. Shinedown always knew how to rock, they just never had any real melody to write home about. Here's hoping.... Chris
  16. A tad too clean and polished for my tastes. But, it's good to see Philip Bardowell (ex-Unruly Child) back in action. Unruly Child's debut album is still one of my favorite cds of all time. Chris
  17. I know nothing about this new live cd. Geoff, you mentioned two new tracks. Are these live tracks or studio tracks? I'm much too lazy right now to go research it. Chris
  18. Is anybody really suprised this new one sucks so bad? Their debut was good but not awesome by any means. Chris
  19. They're a christian band? Really? Is this the same band who released 'Love Buzz Harmony' or something like that? A few fillers, but overall a great band and great disc with a few outright killers. I wouldn't have picked they were a christian band, though... Yup, I used to have Elektrik "Love Buzz Harmony". While they weren't over the top with their message, they were definitely a Christian band. A pretty good indie one at that. I remember there being a killer ballad on it but can't remember the song title for the life of me. Chris
  20. Granted, I've never been a huge fan of the Christian hard rock band Kutless. However, if their new single "The Feeling" is any indicator of what the new album is going to sound like, then get out of my way on release day June 24. Check it out. http://www.myspace.com/kutless Chris
  21. Bret Michaels "Rock My World" Yes, I did pick it up. Couldn't help myself. Rather catchy if I do say so myself. Chris
  22. Hey Tim2, I can't find their debut EP either. I found a couple of places where you can download all the tracks from the debut, but I'm guessing you want a copy in your hands correct? Chris I can't even find anywhere to download it... any hints? Hey Geoff, go to their mypsace page. You can download each track from the debut EP for .99 cents a song. There was one other site that had them as well, but I can't remember it right at the moment. Chris
  23. Listened to my copy of "September Sessions" today. Damn fine album. I even give it the edge over "Machines and Robots". All five tracks are good on this one. And, the ballad "Make Me Believe", I think I've already stated how I feel about that song. This is great modern melodic hard rock people. One of the reasons I come to this board is to check out new bands that people recommend. Kudos to the starter of this thread. Keep 'em coming. Chris Kudos to you too my friend - just gave you another one today...Adelitas Way. Unsigned too According to their myspace page, Adelitas Way are back in the studio finishing up an album with producer Skidd Mills. That is awesome news. This band is killer! Chris

  25. I say you correct brotha from the same mutha. Skid Row kicks ass! Chris
