    Hinder

Im gonna properly listen to this tomorrow, but just quickly flicked through and this sounds stunning. Maybe a tad ballad heavy, but all those ballads sound awesome to me Seriously its going to be difficult to split SOTY, Shinedown, Disciple and this, but on first impressions Hinder is going to finish in the top 2 cos its just more my sound/style. Thank God Papa has been pushed back to 09.
  2. You really puzzled me with this one, mate. We do often agree but we are just miles off on this HEAT disc. I just reviewed this yesterday for Ipod selection and 'Follow me' was actually the cut-off for the songs that didn't make it on (even if I still love 5 of the 6 that didn't make it). Meaning it was the best of the 6 that didn't make it, making it my 7th favourite song on the disc, but I personally much prefer: There For You Never Let Go Keep On Dreaming Cry Feel It Again Bring The Stars I thought you would LOVE something like 'Bring the stars' which would have to be my pick of the disc. How do you not like this disc??? WTF, no 'Straight For The Heart' ????? Are You Mad??! My top 6 are (in no order) - There For You Never Let Go Keep On Dreamin Straight For The Heart Follow Me Youre Lyin (odd choice, but I love that song) 'Straight for the heart' would be next after 'Follow me'. Seriously, I love every song on this disc except that throw-away song near the end, so even for a song not to be included in my top 6 doesn't mean I don't love it. This disc is sensational. Yeah but my point is that 'Straight For The Heart' would be my No 1. Sensational live as well.....even with the guy from Eclipse singing it!

  4. Hell yeah my black cousin! Add Teargas' 2nd EP to the list for me too. Love that one. No , its awful Awfully good. You should listen to your fellow countryman and pick up that Holy Water EP by Edguy. 'Holy Water' and 'Savage United' are 2 tracks you would love. Here endeth the lesson. I actually dont think its called "Holy water" How good are good are those 2 tracks tho???! How good are any Edguy non album tracks! Have you heard the new album yet?? Im dying to hear that.
  5. ... speaking of killer solos in "modern" hard rock songs. They're not a good live band though. They headlined Taste of Chaos (with Story of the Year, As I Lay Dying, etc) and they couldn't translate these songs live at all. Ive seen them on the box as well and they were crap live. Good song tho, although head and shoulders above anything else on there.............. my song - VALENTINE - 'Wait'

  8. Funny you should say that because after reading the reviews from everyone, I was thinking this must be the holy grail of recent releases so I was just going to buy it from all the rave reviews, but I thought I'd check out the samples anyway and after doing so have no intention of getting it .....just does not do anything for me It's good, don't get me wrong, but 'The Holy Grail' of recent releases - errr no chance mate!! The lyrics in some songs puts me off. 'Without You' is essential tho. np Lovex - Pretend........ Valentine - Soul Salvation

  10. You know, if every song was as good as "Unbreakable", "Under the Gun" and "Million Miles Away" then I'd be the first to jump all over this. But my sense is that they can't decide whether they want to be Whitesnake or a more melodic band ("Unbreakable" is pure AOR), & have made an album that's somewhere between the two. Which is why, even on the most melodic tunes like "Million Miles Away", you get pretty average heavier verses. Every song on Europe's "Prisoners..." was as good as "Unbreakable", so if this album was a 96/100 then what would that album get? 130/100? To be honest mate as much as I respect Andrew's opinion over at Melrock, I think his rating has been well off for sometime now. Too many albums get 90% and over in his reviews (great/informative reviews but too many high high scores). For me, only 3 albums this year would score 85-90% (possibly not over) and that is Journey, WOA and SOTY. Some albums in my top 10 would only be lower 80s - no disrespect to those albums but you have to compare them to the classics as you rightly state. And another thing - no album should ever be rated as 100% - nothing is perfect. My fav album of all time 'Escape' would rate at about 94-95%. Cheers I love his reviews because they're so descriptive of the albums, even if you don't agree with his opinion you know whether you're going to like something or not. Backed. I almost always disagree with his best song choice tho.................?! I met him at Firefest this year - top bloke. Cheers lol...... two guys who happen to come all the way from Australia somehow didnt end up meeting each other.. yes I didnt meet him. I'm goiung to have to increase my rating on eclispe to an 8.5 outta 10. the cd's getting better, I was a tad harsh with my agreement of Tim's review. Yep, I love it....great album. so you were the guy who kept shouting out when they said anyone from Oz! If there's a FF6 we'll have to meet. Cheers mate.

    Hello

Welcome Jason! You didn't name yourself after the awesome new Trivium album did you? You know they named it after Richard Chamberlain & welcome Shogun
  12. A few from the last 12 months or so - Avantasia - Lost In Space I & II (better than the album IMO!) Tupelo Honey - Machines & Robots Society Red - s/t (killer hard rock) Faktion - Crash Ashore A Thorn For Every Heart - EP 2008 and another fav - Edguy - Holy Water (which includes Savage Union - one of my fav Edguy tracks!) http://www.amazon.co.uk/King-Fools-Edguy/d...787&sr=8-10
  13. Cheers Juan, hope you stay around for a while.
  14. Yeah cheers mate you just ruined my day - sitting here at my f desk! Seriously, that looks amazing (and I aint talkin about your mrs....). Cheers
  15. That was one of the first bands I thought of... they are meant to be doing another disc, aren't they? A possibility of something in the future I hear, whether it be an EP. or a full album, I don't know. Lets cross fingers. After their KILLER firefest performance I wouldnt be surprised if we saw something from them next year. I reckon maybe an EP to test the water - they rolled out an unreleased track from 20 years back and the crowd (including me) loved it - they promised they would record that song in 2009 so yeah, fingers double crossed!

  17. Agreed, that's always been the thing missing for me on modern rock albums - no solos! But there are a couple of excellent solos on the each of last 2 SOTY albums, and now on the new Disciple. King of solos in the modern genre will always be Alter Bridge - Tremonti is a world class guitarist and proved it on 'Blackbird' with a world class solo. & be4 you tell me again that they suck - I know that's what you think - but I love em, so

  20. Didn't you just love that Helicopter scene? Oh man, forgot about that but that was freakin' awesome. I only saw this recently and really quite enjoyed it. Watch the sequel: "28 Weeks Later" too. Awesome. They are talkin about 28 weeks later - think this got confused somewhere??!
