Backed backed and backed. Although I'd put the majority of the album in my fave tracks of 2008 in all honesty. Plus this... 'Atlanta' - Butch Walker 'Lost In The Sun' as well - awesome tune.

the first 4 tracks on SOTY are all completely awesome. Black Swan is a masterpiece. All 5 bonus tracks are complete killers, esp The Virus, Turn Up The Radio and The Truth Shall Set Me Free. Message To The world is another absolute gem. Plus you have a great ballad in Terrified. To me thats at least 12 killers on one album......and the rest aint bad either. Still No 1 for me. & it absolutely wipes FFAF off the face of planet earth IMHO.

I almost agree with you. Almost. My one (small) complaint of this album is that all the songs have the exact same theme and therefore the album becomes slightly one dimensional. That is the only reason SOTY stays on top for me....more diversity. But I agree this crucifies Disciple and Shinedown.

Quick summation - first half of the album isnt bad actually....'Better' is an OK start, 'Chinese Democracy' is a very good song, as is IRS. Undecided on 'Madagascar', but 'Rhiad.....' is pretty poor. 'This I Love' and 'The Blues' are excellent and my fav 2 tunes. Then things take a turn for the worse. The last 3 songs are all completely shit and almost unlistenable IMO. Hey ho.

I dont agree, I think the new album is great. My opinion was the same as yours after one spin - see above in this thread....but after about 5/6 spins this really sinks in. I love it now.

Well it certainly kills off Funeral For A Friend which to me is just dull, dull, dull and definitely wont be making my modern top 10. I agree with you tho that its nowhere near SOTY.

The whole album is excellent.
