  1. The new prog 'supergroup' released a self-titled album this year. From notreble.com: "Musician, producer and former Yes member Billy Sherwood has put together what he’s dubbed “the biggest super group of progressive rock players ever assembled,” to form The Prog Collective. The group has released their self-titled album this week, featuring John Wetton (Asia), Tony Levin (King Crimson), Jerry Goodman (Mahavishnu Orchestra), Richard Page (Mr. Mister), Geoff Downes (Yes/Asia), Alan Parsons (Alan Parsons Project), Chris Squire (Yes), Rick Wakeman (Yes), Gary Green (Gentle Giant), Annie Haslam (Renaissance), Steve Hillage (Gong), John Wesley (Porcupine Tree), Tony Kaye (Yes), Colin Moulding (XTC) and others. “The idea of assembling a collection of amazing artists from the progressive rock genre all on one record was an especially exciting concept to me. Inspired, I began writing and recording the [seven] songs that would become this album. I then sent those recordings out to some of my friends and musical heroes from bands like King Crimson, XTC, Asia, Gentle Giant, and of course my former band Yes,” Sherwood shares. “Soon, I started receiving vocal tracks and guitar and keyboard overdubs from studios all over the world, which I then mixed at my recording studio in Los Angeles. Despite the distances in geography, however, the feeling of the entire production is one of musical and spiritual unity – The Prog Collective!” Tracklist: 1. The Laws of Nature - Jerry Goodman, John Wetton, Tony Levin (7:19) 2. Over Again - Geoff Downes, Richard Page (9:04) 3. The Technical Divide - Alan Parson, Chris Squire, Gary Green (7:55) 4. Social Circles - Annie Haslam, Peter Banks (8:03) 5. Buried Beneath - Billy Sherwood, Larry Fast, Steve Hillage (8:11) 6. Following the Signs - John Wesley, Tony Kaye (7:27) 7. Check Point Karma - Colin Moulding, Rick Wakeman (7:14) http://soundcloud.co...-nature/s-BJ3OF https://itunes.apple...ris/id543679202 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ny25QcEz90k
  2. Angelica Rylin (The Murder Of My Sweet) - TBA (Frontiers Records)
  3. Angelica Rylin of The Murder Of My Sweet is working on a solo album to be released on Frontiers Records in 2013. Check out the people involved. This should be good! "An exciting new AOR music star is born: Swedish singer Angelica Rylin (The Murder of My Sweet) has decided to pursue her childhood dream and thus started recording an all Melodic Rock album affair under the direction of Daniel Flores on the production. "I always wanted to record an album like this" says Angelica, "my childhood heroes were Robin Beck, Ann Wilson of Heart, Leigh Matty of Romeo's Daughter". Some Melodic Rock songwriting luminaries worked hard to create the magic harmonies and music that will be displayed on Angelica's debut album. "Harry Hess, Daniel Flores, Robert Sall and Anders Wigelius all contributed" continues Angelica and some excellent guitarists such as Jesper Stromblad (In Flames), Magnus Karlsson (Primal Fear), Per Berquist (Smash Into Pieces) also appear on the album. There is also a very special performance by keyboardist Matt Guillory (James LaBrie). "This being my first solo record I now have the chance to show you another side of me. This is the next chapter, I hope you'll follow!" concludes Angelica." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9WOLHjm7ocY
  4. I must confess I wasn't familiar with the band until I posted this but now I'm pretty sure it will be on my shopping list.
  5. I listened through the 'Dyin' To Survive' tracks today and fuck me sideways with a banana if this isn't awesome! Well this is awesome! I can't believe the guys left it unreleased. On CD that is. Great stuff!
  6. Yep. That's a great choice of name. Well that's it really.
  7. Haha, that's some crazy video! Shite music though...
  8. That's a good song. I would never have guessed it's her. Far away from 'I Think We're Alone Now'.
  9. This is pretty good. If they only would have dropped Shitty Dogg...
  10. That's a cool line-up. Very nice.
  11. Not to be confused with Doogie White's Cornerstone, this female-fronted band comes from Austria. They are currently working on a new album 'Reflections' to be released next year. Debut 'Somewhere In America' was released in 2011 and to be honest it contains pretty average AOR/melodic rock (or something). I hope they impove on their second effort. Image-wise and song-wise. Tracklist: 'Stay' 'Rise And Shine' 'Breathing For You' 'Right Or Wrong' 'Like A Stranger' 'Follow You, Follow Me' 'Being Unaware' 'Oblivious' 'High And Low' 'Strut' http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=POPQQaNeB6k http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bZf0M4sZ4H8
  12. Is that your new favourite word? *adopting Schwarzenegger's voice* You've been deleted!
  13. David Pack (Ambrosia) - Napa Crossroads
  14. Yep. It's the time of the year when everybody in the music industry releases their versions of Xmas 'classics'. James Durbin is no exception. Is there anyone out there who actually listens to these? For real? I ain't one of them. I find them quite boring... 16. I listened to the whole album today and this disc, my friends, is the biggest suprise for me this year. In a year of excellent music in all departments of rock, this release came straight out of the blue. Like cotton for my rock battered ears. Take a listen to the title track. Absolutely stunning! Probably THE song of the year for me. And what a great voice the man has. Needless to say I just placed an order for it. Yeah. Great stuff.
  17. Coney Hatch - TBA They've just been signed by Frontiers Records.
