  1. Very good album; I have the point records release and the sound quality is pretty bad. May pick this one up if sound is good.
  2. I'd say my rarest CD is: Autograph - That's The Stuff (original 1985 RCA/Victor pressing with BLUE cover) I very rarely ever see an original blue cover one. Also, I've read that the red cover was first and has "six string fever" but then they released the blue cover later and it has "We're An American Band" as track 6 instead of "Six String Fever". My blue cover copy has "Six String Fever" as track 6 and not "We're An American Band". If someone can shed some light on the cover and song situation that would be great.
  3. Europe - The Final Countdown Perfect 10/10; has everything I need with music; very catchy and melodic; good keyboard, solid bass and drums; singer with a golden throat and one hell of a guitar player/solo - both of which have melodies that echoe through the sky just like that song. Takes me away.
  4. Good musicians and the only thing original about them is their cheesey porn lyrics which like TIM (2) said: Embarrassing garbage. They do get in the way of good music. I will not listen to them on a regular basis since they are a joke/parody band. A joke band to me is ALMOST in the same category of a cover band since they're not real bands/music in my opinion (serious bands). Steel Panther borrows 80's hair bands riffs of old. Even if they didn't have the porn lyrics, the songs that are copycats of other bands would be unworthy of listening too. The porn lyrics is what's saving this band now and their only appeal. If they would make new songs without copying 80's hair bands melodies and ditch the porn lyrics then they would be an original and probably good original hard rock/hair band. I mean a little bit of sillyness thrown in here and there would be ok - the real hair bands threw it in occassionaly but every single song about raunchy porn lyrics is not my cup of tea. I think maybe they knew to get attention they needed an over the top gimmick. Like others said, if they were a serious band they wouldn't be getting quite as much attention as they are now. So they got their attention/buzz but it will soon wear off - probably a few months after their CD is released in the U.S. if not sooner. I could be wrong though and Steel Panther could take over the world!! Hahaha, not likely.
  5. Yeah, what a moron. He looked like a dork smashing it too. He barely even smashed it.........failed attempt for sure all around.
  6. I chose #1; he's an outstanding guitar player. He has a very unique and identifiable sound, his playing is very hard to mimic. IMO he does have feeling in his playing - some of his songs more so than others. He may and can look like a flashy guitar player on the surface but if you really listen and especially to certain songs it be hard to say he's just a flashy player with no feeling/substance. I'd say he can play anything and anyone else's music on the guitar as well but can others play his stuff? I had an argument with my friend about Yngwie. He was saying Yngwie has no feeling and is just all show but I was obviously disagreeing and then we were comparing him to other guitarists, one of which was Eric Clapton. Whether or not he is better is personal preference but I said Yngwie can play all of Clapton's catalogue I'm sure but can Clapton play all of Yngwie's? The answer is no to me. I did state though that while Yngwie could play all of Clapton's stuff he probably wouldn't be able to match the feeling and overall vibe since that is unique to the particular guitarist playing the song (in this case, Clapton). Now this really doesn't matter when it comes to making music but I was making the point to him to give Yngwie some credit, as let's see you let alone any expert/professional guitarist play his stuff. The point still didn't hit home with my friend but at least the argument ended.
  7. Rambo IV - Widescreen Superman I-IV (couldn't resist the $10 price) Cobra/Tango & Cash - double feature
  8. Yngwie is a treat to see and with Ripper on vocals - hell yeah! Yngwie will always get a turn out.
  9. Just picked these up without hearing any of them so took a chance: Jeff Paris - Wired Up (I like it; nice 80's glam/hard rock/AOR surprise); Matt Sorum on drums was a plus Jimmy Davis and Junction - Kick The Wall (not bad AOR; will give another listen for sure); and these last 3 I'm not impressed with at all: Exile - Still Standing and another I forget the title but the one after I believe (too soft for my taste; a few softer ones are ok but not the whole disc), and lastly The Snakes - S/T (only skimmed through it but may listen again; kind of had a southern bluesy sound to it from what I heard).
  10. This week: Zeno - S/T Japan Import; will be here today. Last week: Kane Roberts - S/T and Alien - Shiftin' Gear
  11. Rising FORCE - Yngwie J. Malmsteen
  12. I really like Alice Cooper. The ones I have/my faves from him: Constrictor, Raise Your Fist And Yell, Trash, Hey Stoopid, and I'm gonna pick up his new one Along Came A Spider soon since I've been listening to that one while playing his online pinball game and it kicks ass! I also have Dragontown which is good but not up there with all the other ones I mentioned. I'll have to pull that one out soon and give it a listen though. Alice Cooper is the man!
  13. Haha - that's awesome. I have Silent Night Deadly Night/Silent Night Deadly Night 2 on double feature DVD and I'll probably pop em' in real soon - tis the season! Wow, that's awesome. I'd still love to find them on DVD. Will have to track it down. Can't believe I said the same thing two years ago that I said this year! Do a search online and you'll find some at DVD stores and also Amazon and ebay. The first one can be found for pretty cheap. They do have a set of parts 1 & 2 but the USA region 1 is sorta pricey $30-40 since it's OOP but if you have a region free DVD player you can find parts 1 & 2 set for other countries for $10-15. Actually, I see you're in Australia and ebay has a region 4 dvd set of parts 1 & 2 on there now.
  14. Haha - that's awesome. I have Silent Night Deadly Night/Silent Night Deadly Night 2 on double feature DVD and I'll probably pop em' in real soon - tis the season! But for the family friendly Christmas TV Classic, I always liked "The grinch Who Stole Christmas", "Christmas Vacation", and of course "A Christmas Story". I also used to watch the Charlie Brown holiday ones and remember liking those when I was a little kid but haven't seen em' in ages.
  15. Caught the replay of the one w/Yngwie....and i agree. If you've got one of the best guitar players in the world on your show at least give the guy the majority of the time to talk about his endeavors, career and let him shred a little more. I just caught the past re-runs of the first few and saw the Yngwie one this morning. I was thinking the same thing. They should have asked him more stuff like "who was your favorite singer you've ever had in your band/worked with" and if they would have ket him talk more, maybe he would have gave some interesting stories. How about the guy who grabbed the making of Winger IV DVD from the box lol. He said something to the effect of "got the making of Winger IV, woohoo" and Yngwie looked very amused and Trunks sidekick said "that's rare, cause nobody has it". I got a chuckle out of that. That's probably one of the worst prizes he could have gotten. At least they did have a guitar there for Yngwie and he did get to shred a bit.
