Smith would later appear as a backing vocalist on Kelly Keagy's (Night Ranger) debut solo album, 'Time Passes' in 2001 on Frontiers Records srl. 6. Love “Open Up the Balcony” 👍 The EP, and their self titled debut, were two of the first rarities I picked up back in the early 00’s when I started hitting eBay hard. It’s a shame they’re not more well known.
  7. From the self titled 1986 EP "Jillson" ... Jillson – Jillson (1986, Vinyl) - Discogs Much more "metal" than anything I recall from the "Deadly Girl" release, but it has been a while since I've listened to that one, sooooo...
  8. For some reason my mind connected these two covers...
  9. Got my copy in the mail today; just spun it for the first time, and thoroughly enjoyed it. Good, solid hard rock, with some damn catchy hooks and melodies. I own those two EPs as well; good band!
  10. CARR JAM 21 is a Scandinavian project to celebrate the legacy of the late Eric Carr (KISS, 1980-1991). Eric sadly passed away on November 24, 1991, but his influence is heard until today. Comprising some of the most well-known and KISS inspired musicians, CARR JAM 21 have recorded songs written by Eric Carr, plus KISS-related songs. The people behind the project are Ryan Roxie (Alice Cooper / Slash’s Snakepit), Åge Sten Nielsen (WigWam), Philip Shouse (Accept, Ace Frehley, Gene Simmons), Jesper Binzer (D-A-D), Dregen (Backyard Babies), Jolle Atlagic (Electric Boys, The Quill), Jesper Lindgren (Velvet Insane), and Martin Ekelund (Bonafide). 1. 11. Hey Guys, We wanted to let you all know that we have been busy putting the finishing touches on our new album, Gravedigger, for a Summer 2022 release. This is the follow-up to Evie's Little Garden, but we can assure you that it is anything but a carbon copy - Gravedigger is chock full of big riffs, tribal drums, scorching solos, thunderous bass riffage and much more of what we are known for - killer songs that will have you singing along in no time (air guitar is allowed as well!). It's a 12 song album that is loaded with a simple rule - all killer and no filler! We are hoping to release the title track, Gravedigger in mid/late spring. We just wanted to give you all a heads up. We want to also thank you all for helping to make Evie's Little Garden one of the standout albums of 2021 - we made the top of most everybody's lists (Heaven's Metal, Angelic Warlord, The Metal Onslaught, Iridium Reviews, Torrential Riffs and more!) and the competition was stiff! Pre-Orders will be available soon, and FYI, we will only be doing a CD and digital release, as vinyl is taking way too long to process(those of you who are still waiting on Vinyl would already know this!). We look forward to sharing this album with you! Until the Gravedigger arrives, thanks for listening and supporting us! 12. Wow, how the hell did I miss this one... Rest in Peace is fucking excellent! Just ordered the album, Gifts From the Holy Ghost Trev Lukather co-wrote and produced 3 of the songs on the album: Hurricane, Touched By Fire, and Top of the World Jason Hook looks to be a co-writer on the track "A Beautiful Life"
  13. I’m tempering my expectations for this one, like with any Frontiers “project”, but I think “Nowhere to Run” is actually pretty damn good, and look forward to hearing more. 👍
  14. What songs start out in one mood/style, and then change to a completely different mood or style one or more times? Two that immediately come to mind are Band on the Run by Paul McCartney & Wings and Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen

  16. Gibson TV is thrilled to present its first show dedicated to the worlds of heavy metal and monster culture in the new series “Metal and Monsters.” The host of this adventure is Matt “Count D” Montgomery - bassist for the King Freak himself, Rob Zombie. Having been a staple of the Zombie band and live show for the last 16 years, Count D looks forward to sharing his passion for music and film with metal and monster fans worldwide. In the first episode of “Metal and Monsters,” Count D takes us to Elm Street as he reunites Don Dokken and Robert Englund to celebrate the 35th Anniversary of the film “A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors.” Featuring never before seen photos from the “Dream Warriors” video shoot, Robert and Don share stories of musical influences to behind-the-scenes tales of one of the most successful horror franchises in film history. Throughout the 60 minute episode, viewers are also treated to different segments that explore the worlds of horror and heavy metal! In a segment titled “Tunes from The Crypt,” Count D revisits Metallica’s 1991 groundbreaking release “The Black Album” and gives fans a chance to win some exclusive prizes! And there’s more! Count D takes the monster squad on a field trip to the offices of Super7 in San Francisco to talk with founder Brian Flynn and the Super7 team to learn more about their projects with Motörhead, Iron Maiden, and Megadeth in a segment titled “Terror Trek.” But that’s not all! In a historical piece titled “Exhumed from The Tomb,” Count D sits down with guitarist Bill Steer from the legendary death metal band Carcass to explore the band’s 35-year history. Filmed on location in downtown Los Angeles, the backdrop for “Metal and Monsters” is the historic 2,000 seat Los Angeles Theatre. Constructed in 1930, Charlie Chaplin helped fund the completion of the building so it would be ready to premiere his film “City Lights” in January of 1931. After closing its doors in 1994, the Los Angeles Theatre sat vacant for many years until serving as a film and television location for productions including “Man on The Moon,” Charlie’s Angels,” “Mad Men,” and “The Lords of Salem.” So, if you like blast beats and things that go bump in the night, then this is the show for you! Welcome to “Metal and Monsters!” Like the show? Suggestions for future guests? Want to WIN some epic Metallica Merch or sweet Super7 figures? 17. And talks about being in a band, and his motivations here: The Death of Rollo Tomassi (therationalmale.com) He goes out of his way to NOT mention the band name
  18. He discusses the 80s metal scene in Hollywood a little bit here: Rollo Tomassi's Blog (goodreads.com) From 2000 to about 2015 organizing live events and conventions was a fairly lucrative proposition in the burgeoning Hustle Economy. Being a speaker at a TED talk held a certain gravitas for the Brand of Me who was invited to relate his very important, self-affirming ideas to a rapt audience. Today, not so much. The TEDx series saw to it that anyone could pay-to-play and thus debased any legitimacy the original TEDs started with. I remember the pay-to-play grift that destroyed the late 80s’ metal scene in Hollywood. Show promoters would buy out a classic venue like Gazzari’s or the Troubadour for a night and then talk “up-and-coming bands” into playing the gigs. All they had to do was sell enough tickets to cover their portion of whatever the promoter had paid to reserve the venue. Whether the bands decided to sell their tickets at a profit or a loss was irrelevant to the promoters – they just had to cover the rent on the club for that night. Most promoters were making their money on marking up that rent, and a percentage of the alcohol sales they’d arrange with club owners. It didn’t matter if the bands were great or they sucked, just that they covered the rent with ticket sales – usually to friends and family to come watch them play on the same stage that Van Halen and Ratt got their start on. The promoters weren’t selling actual talent, they were selling the fantasy of playing on historic stages in L.A. to guys who believed they were good enough to play them. By 1989 pay-to-play was killing what was once a vibrant music scene that naturally culled the talentless bands from the great ones.
  19. Real name George W. Miller Couldn't find anything on HH or Brutal Metal for "Rollo Tomassi" or "George Miller" that fit the bill, but there is a Rollo Tomassi in this band: Trial of Ascension Is that him on the left?
  20. Goodbye June - See Where The Night Goes CD. Heavy Harmonies Discography Picked up this release recently... digging it. A mix of AC/DC and bluesy southern rock
