  1. Talk about turning misery into ecstasy. Opening day in Philadelphia against Houston. Roy Halliday got roughed up by the Astros for 4 runs while the Phillies offense was anemic. The Astros led 4-0 going into the bottom of the 7th inning. The Phillies got 2 back, but were still down 4-2 going into the bottom of the 9th inning. ... and then the wheels came off. The Phillies smacked 6 hits, including a walk-off bloop single by rookie John Mayberry, Jr. Woohoo!
  2. If you want to get the bonus tracks without having to buy an extra CD or import I would recommend buying the bonus tracks from Amazon. 99 cents each. That's what I did to get the above tracks.
  3. I'd really like to get your take on this one after a few thorough listens, being that you really liked Issa.
  4. Yep! I've seen every episode this far. Way cool show. Serinda Swan being hot doesn't hurt either...
  5. Just a quick follow-up, as I've been getting multiple PMs and emails from HH members interested in this disc. I'm going to try something new here at HH: The seller has agreed to auction the CD through Heavy Harmonies here on the forum. I've worked out a system that I believe will be fair to all parties concerned, provide transparency to both buyer and seller, and HH will get a commission from the seller for the effort. If it works out well, I may try to implement a more formalized auction-style mechanism. I will be posting the formal terms and conditions tonight when I get home. Because this is a "work in progress", if someone sees anything in the terms that they feel is either unfair or exploitable, let's talk about it. I will state up front that while the seller is willing to sell this disc internationally, there are countries/regions that he does not feel comfortable shipping to, which is his prerogative. At the very least it will be cool that an HH member gets to buy it! -Dan
  6. I've deliberately held off on listening to more than the first 2 singles until my CD/DVD got here today, and am now listening through for the first time. I can see how hardcore WT fans might be disappointed with the CD... *BUT* if anything, it's probably the most "radio friendly" or mainstream material they've ever released. It easily fits more within Heavy Harmonies than any of their other releases. Over the past 10 years they've been progressing from metal to rock, and this just continues the progression. That said, it's still WT and it kicks ass. I'll be replaying this over and over for the next several weeks. Here's a full-length hi-rez (320kbps) track that in my opinion epitomizes their shift closer to HH styling: http://www.heavyharmonies.com/audio/wt-iron.mp3 The chorus is just a monster payoff! Crank it loud!
  7. Very cool. I'll have to pick this one up. -Dan
  8. ??? Must have me confused with someone else. I've paid upwards of $200 for a couple of the discs in my soundtrack collection, and over $100 for a few in my Maynard collection.
  9. Best. Ballad. Ever. (well maybe not, but it's in the top 5). -Dan
  10. Sanctuary of course, although Dreaming Neon Black and Dead Heart are quite good CDs.
  11. Well, according to the HS website, if its the image below, it's a bootleg. The artwork I'm referring to is this: Interestingly enough, the guy sent me closeups of the inner ring of the CD, and it has the words "HAREM SCAREM" as part of the inner chapter ring, as you would expect to see on a pressed disc. It's not after-market engraving.
  12. Wow. That's a 4th version I've never seen before. That doesn't look anything like the one shown at the HS website. I bet that's a home-grown bootleg. The subtitle "The Demos - Looking Back" isn't something the band would have had on their demo in 1989. -Dan
  13. I've got someone wanting to sell me a copy of the (supposedly) original HS demo CD. I've never personally seen one in hand, but something seems off to me. Was the original demo a pressed disc? The pictures the guy sent me have the correct cover art when compared to the copy shown at haremscarem.net, *BUT* it has the word "DEMO" in block red letters diagonally across the cover, which doesn't match. There is a liner/promo sheet with the disc in red lettering, as well as a tray card and cover sheet. The disc itself has handwritten wording on it, which screams CDR to me. If anyone has pictures of the actual disc and artwork they can post, I'd appreciate it. Thanks, -Dan
  14. To me, all Ten albums sound samey... but since I like the overall sound, that's not a bad thing. In my opinion, their first three albums are absolute monsters and would be all-time classics were it not for the absolutely horrific production and mix. I had high hopes when The Essentials Collection was first announced, thinking that the early material would FINALLY get the sonic treatment it deserved, only to find that they were inconceivably made WORSE. Remix and remaster "The Robe" and I'd be in hog heaven. The new album is quite good. Is it a radical departure? No. But it's kinda like expecting something different when a new AC/DC or Fair Warning album comes out... not gunna happen.
  15. I'll try a test. There is a "cleanup" I can run that recounts posts which may reconcile the numbers. I only run it rarely... Let's see. -Dan
  16. Just chiming in a bit more re: WT in general. As much as I love the band (and I do!) I don't think they are HH material. The majority of their discography is symphonic gothic metal. Heck, their early material had death-metal-style growling vocals. That said, regarding WT sounding a lot like other current female-fronted bands, it's the other way around. WT is most often compared to Evenescence, but WT's "sound" predates Evanescence (first WT release is 1997). It's just that they haven't been well known in the U.S. until recently, so many people mistakenly think that WT copied Evanescence, when if anything, the reverse is true. I've got a fairly comprehensive collection of WT CDs, DVDs, singles, and bootlegs: http://cdsniper.com/cgi-bin/withintemptation.cgi It pales in comparison to that of some of the diehard followers out there, but it's decent in its completeness. The Blu-Ray of Black Symphony, the live performance with full orchestra and choir, is a true reference disc from the standpoint of audio quality, video quality, as well as the performance itself.
  17. Still waiting for mine to arrive from the UK. HMV had a signed special edition (CD + DVD) preorder special for 9 pounds.
  18. What is it with all the dildohead spammers the last few days??? They're not even linking to anything; it's just random text. What is the fucking point? Bastards.
  19. ??? You saw the Blu-Ray in Wal-Mart? In which country? -Dan
  20. Great price. Never heard of that vendor though. Anyone here order from them? -Dan
  21. Same performance, but on Blu-Ray, not DVD. Big qualitative difference.
  22. I'm watching it right now. Definitely 1080 HD and not upconverted. Only released in Asia. It's region-free. The Amazon price below is a bit stiff. I got mine on eBay for about $27 shipped, but there aren't any listed at the moment. http://www.amazon.com/Journey-Live-Manila-Blu-ray/dp/B0045TQ94I/ref=sr_1_5?s=dvd&ie=UTF8&qid=1299301725&tag=heavyharmonies&sr=1-5
