  1. As a lifelong Philadelphia Eagles fan, last night was darned near orgasmic. The 55-gallon drum of whoop-ass that the Eagles unleashed on the Deadskins on national TV was truly epic. While Vick was a scrambler with Atlanta, the coaching he has received at Philadelphia has transformed him into one dangerous all-around quarterback. Yes, it's only 1 game, and this coming weekend against the Giants will be a tougher test, but that first quarter last night showed him commanding the field better than just about any quarterback I've ever seen... in all aspects of the game. It was amazing. The 59-28 win set all sorts of records: The 88-yard TD opening play for the Eagles was the longest in team history. The 45 points in the first half was the most in Eagles history and broke the NFL all-time record for a road team. The 592 yards of total offense by the Eagles was the highest in team history. Vick became the first player in NFL history to pass for over 300 yards, run for over 50, throw for 4 TDs and run for 2 TDs in a single game. The 28 points the Eagles scored in the first quarter was the highest by a road team in NFL history (not just MNF history). The 59 Eagles' points was the highest in MNF history. It also led to one of the most amazing on-air rants ever to grace the airwaves, from a Washington DJ. It's almost 13 minutes long, but well worth the listen: http://www.bleedinggreennation.com/2010/11/16/1818408/dc-sportstalk-host-goes-on-one-of-the-most-epic-rants-you-will-ever?ref=yahoo There are some mighty pissed off fans in Washington... -Dan
  2. Both the trailer AND the music. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7P4hJQBCp5s
  3. Watching this now. The sound quality is excellent, but I'm not a fan of the camera work - too many fast cutaways; they never stay on any view for any length of time, makes it feel choppy. I wish I had waited for the European release rather than jumping on the Japanese release (I mistakenly believed the 5-disc box was ONLY coming out in Japan), so I cost myself about $100. Ouch. According to numbnuts, err, cdinzane, the Euro version of the 5-disc box is coming out at the end of November for $43. The extras in the Japanese 5-disc box are a sticker, a piece of the original backdrop from the show, and a Fair Warning silver dog tag on a chain. -Dan
  4. Actually, if you read all the comments, there's parties on each side claiming the other side is full of it. Regardless, either: 1. The team is being banned from the playoffs for being too good, in which case it's en example of how FUCKED we are, or 2. The parents/officials of the team decided to stack the deck, in which case they are miserable excuses for parents for the type of example they're setting, and an example of how FUCKED we are. Either way you slice it, theare are some fucked up people involved. It's kids sports, for Pete's sake!

  10. I like both tracks, but prefer the second. Fifth Angel never used keys like that and were heavier. The lead vocalist's voice sounds familiar, but I can't put a finger on it... -Dan
  11. Yes he left a neg saying he never received it. I called eBay and spoke with them at length, but there's nothing they will do. They say he has the right to leave a negative opinion, because that's all feedback is - opinion. The eBay rep also said that since the buyer is a longstanding member and has a lot of feedback, it's not like a new member "trying to disrupt the community" so they're leaving the feedback intact. Since the extortion attempt occurred outside of eBay, there's nothing they can do about it. I'm so glad that I can only leave positive feedback, since all buyers are angels and only sellers are evil.
  12. userID 707star, real name Brad Greinke. This douchebag bought a CD from me on September 3. Delivery confirmation shows that it was delivered to his P.O. Box on September 10 and a notice was left. The first I everr hear from him is on October 25, when he sends a terse message through eBay asking where his CD is at. I reply with an explanation and a link to the tracking information. No reply. October 28 he sends another message like the first one, asking where his CD is. Again, I reply with the tracking information and a longer explanation. No reply. I call eBay, as it looks like he's not getting or ignoring his eBay messages. eBay confirms that the messages are reaching his Inbox, but they are not showing as read, which simply means that like most people, he's just reading the emails sent from eBay with the messages, not actually going to eBay and reading them. If the email address tied to the eBay account is defunct or has a full inbox or there are spam filter issues, he's not getting the messages. Since all buyer and seller email addresses are now obfuscated (you can't see people's real email addresses on eBay anymore; everything is aliased), eBay suggests going to PayPal and getting his real email address from the PayPal transaction page, and contacting him that way. Good idea actually, and I should have thought of it. So I send the information to that email address. No reply. Tonight he gives me a negative and then sends me an email outside of eBay saying that if I send him another CD he'll reverse the neg. He never filed a dispute with PayPal or eBay because he knew that I had proof of delivery, so instead he just negs me and tries to extort more merchandise. Cocksucker. Block this putz. -Dan
  13. That would have been way cool to be there for (even though I am a lifelong Phillies fan). Would be neat if they arrange to have him actually sing if the series makes it back to SF. -Dan
  14. Triumph is one of Canada's greatest Hard Rock bands. With 10 classic albums released between 1976 and 1987, they have left an indelible mark on the history of Hard Rock, Melodic Rock and are nowadays considered among the forefathers of Progressive Metal. Epitomizing the essence of the Power trio sound: Rik Emmett (guitar and vocals), Mike Levine (bass and keyboards) and Gil Moore (drums and vocals) are regarded as virtuoso musicians in their own right and great entertainers thanks to the Triumph concert spectacle that was second to none. Frontiers Records is therefore proud to announce that the official reissues of Triumph’s 10 classic albums, in digipak version and with the original tracklistings, will be released on December 3rd. In The Beginning (1976) Rock and Roll Machine (1977) Just a Game (1979) Progressions of Power (1980) Allied Forces (1981) Never Surrender (1983) Thunder Seven (1984) Stages (Live) (1985) The Sport of Kings (1986) Surveillance (1987) All CDs have been remastered and feature an extensive booklet including lyrics. In addition, Frontiers will issue a very limited collector’s edition Box Set entitled “Diamond Collection” which will include all the 10 albums in vinyl replica, and will feature the artwork from the original vinyl edition of the albums. While future plans remain uncertain for the band, and after the recent reunion shows, the time to re-live the impressive legacy of their music has come. This new set of reissues is a real present to the Triumph fans, both old and new, who now have the opportunity to own these timeless masterpieces of Classic Rock. Enjoy ! 15. Cliquey? Really? I've never gotten that vibe at all compared to some other boards I'm on, but then again I'm not as prolific a poster as many are here. I've just not seen it. Sure, Geoff has his buddies, but I've always seen him as being buddies with just about anyone, given half a chance. I've never gotten an insider/outsider feeling with all the interaction there. If you feel that someone(s) is derailing a topic that you started and feel strongly about, by all means contact one of the mods and we can try and get it back on track. Who are you again? [KIDDING!] Mainstream bands that have been perceived as overplayed, overhyped, or played out (Bon Jovi, Poison, Motley Crue, KISS, Van Halen, AC/DC) routinely have bullseyes painted on them. I don't think it's unique here. They're easy marks, as they've gotten the fame and the money when many equally-talented bands toiled in obscurity. And there I think is the major problem you're encountering here on the board: People here KNOW about the obscure bands that were as good as, or better than, the mainstream acts, so you're more likely to see people here taking umbrage at the mainstream bands success, than in other forums. It's because the focus here is moreso on the unknowns, the almost was's, and the never were's. I could be offbase in my assessment, but that's perhaps one reason for it. -Dan

  17. Agreed. Jerk. Don't talk to him, he's not part of the family. Kidding, I think it's great that you're into this stuff AND you're 23, that is something that should be appreciated. Anywho... it does seem like more people are posting, and this is good. \m/ i love you both. Watch it! This is a no-cuddle zone. MAN SPOON! Things sure have changed around here, since I've been gone. I remember a time when Matt's love was reserved for Geoff and small furry animals only. He's become quite the tramp then, hasn't he... I believe the proper term is "slut".

  19. Frontiers Records is pleased to announce the release of JEFF SCOTT SOTO’s double live album “Live at Firefest 2008” on December 3rd 2010. Firefest has become a pivotal event in the Melodic Rock season in Europe. Born from the ashes of the ‘Gods of AOR’ festival, Firefest started in 2004 and not only did they continue the tradition of Europe’s finest Melodic Rock/AOR festivals, but exceeded all previous expectations. Not many bands have the chance to play on ‘that’ stage nowadays and when Bruce Mee and Kieran Dargan have realized the demand for particular artists to continuing rounding up annually. Jeff Scott Soto was no stranger to ‘that’ stage. He performed at the Gods festival in 2002 putting up an amazing show that was mirrored with a live CD/DVD. So when the call came to Jeff about the new and continued version of this proven festival, he wasted no time in answering “Of course!”. But not all good things come easily… “Unfortunately the date clashed with my commitments touring with the Trans-Siberian Orchestra in the US for their annual Winter Tour” recalls Jeff. “This meant a week of 12 hour rehearsals in the US, leaving on a Friday to land in London on a Saturday morning, bee-line it up to Nottingham for 4 hours in traffic, meet with the band for 30 minutes, as they were wrapping up the ONLY rehearsal we had prior to the show (the last time we had played together was nearly a year prior!), straight to the venue and onstage within the next hour!” But once onstage, the warmth of the crowd and the energy transmitted by the electricity of the event was such that Jeff and his band stormed through our 70 minute set like gangbusters! It was the first time the songs from the “Beautiful Mess” album were performed in Europe and the last show the original JSS band featuring Howie Simon on guitar, Dave Dzialak on drums and Gary Schutt on bass played together. In JSS words: “Here it is in all its glory, a little extra something for you all to help me remember this wonderful night of music and memories”. “Live at Firefest 2008” tracklisting includes: CD1: 21st Century; Colour My XTC (prelude); Soul Divine; Drowning; Our Song; DD Solo; Guitar Jam; Mountain; Eyes Of Love; Testify; Broken Man. CD2: Hey; Crazy; Piano Medley (If This Is The End, Nobody Said It Was Easy, 4 U); Gin & Tonic Sky; I'll Be Waiting; Funky Medley (Play That Funky Music, Jungle Boogie, The Roof Is On Fire, Brick House, Shake Your Booty, Kung Fu Fighting, Yo Baby Yo, Macho Man, Ice Ice Baby, Stayin’ Alive, Another One Bites The Dust, Walk This Way, My Love, My Friend) The songs “21st Century” and “Eyes Of Love” can exclusively be listened in full in streaming on the Frontiers Web radio. 20. Nah. I always thought that Udo Dirkschneider should have been the choice for Journey's next vocalist.

  23. Daniele Liverani & friends return to Melodic Rock as a « PRIME SUSPECT » Frontiers Records is pleased to announce the release of PRIME SUSPECT debut album on December 3rd 2010. PRIME SUSPECT is a new melodic rock combo formed by Daniele Liverani, Tommy Ermolli and Dario Ciccioni, three Italian musicians who came to the attention of the Melodic Rock crowd thanks to their performances on the three KHYMERA releases. Liverani, the most experienced musician of the lot, had a long career in the Italian HR/HM scene releasing albums with the Prog Metal groups EMPTY TREMOR and TWINSPIRITS and also with the GENIUS Rock Opera in 3 chapters, showcasing an international all star cast of singers including Daniel Gildenlow (Pain of Salvation), Mark Boals, DC Cooper (ex Royal Hunt) and many more. Since the KHYMERA last two albums saw the bulk of the songwriting from the brothers Tom and James Martin, Liverani started to put together some Melodic Rock tracks which could live on the quality of arrangement and performance of the previous KHYMERA releases. "The awesome songwriting of the Martin Brothers for the Khymera albums I've been arranging and producing inspired me a lot and that's why I decided to accept the challenge of writing some original material in the more Melodic Rock style” says Daniele Liverani presenting the new album. “I would say that Prime Suspect is a combination of what I've been learining with Khymera and my personal style and I have been thrilled with the result... It's been very refreshing to work on this record, and it's been awesome as usual to work all the musicians involved, that provided great performances and the right sound for this new challenge". After a few demos, the three musicians started looking for a suitable singer who could gel with the material written and the search was over when Olaf Senkbeil, fron the german band DREAMTIDE, came into the picture. The icing on the cake was offered by the Swedish songwriter Christian Wolff (On The Rise, Johnny Lima, Mecca) who contributed with two songs “What Do You Want” and “It Could’ve Been You” for the amazing final result. "Basically there's a lot of classic melodic rock inside the tunes" tells Liverani "but the sound is very modern and powerful with a touch of experimentation that comes from my Progressive experience. That's an interesting combination that hopefully the listeners will find interesting and entertaining" A brilliant debut album which offers a contemporary and European sounding / flavoured Melodic Rock, which is granted to appeal to the fans of KHYMERA, LAST AUTUMN’S DREAM and class AOR music. “Prime Suspect” tracklisting includes: What Do You Want; I’ll Be Fine; Change This World; I Never Knew; I Would Like To Reach The Sun; It Could’ve Been You; Hear Me Calling; Deep In My Heart; So Strange; Watch Me. The songs “What Do You Want” and “Change This World” can exclusively be listened in full in streaming on the Frontiers Web radio. 24. In the movie "Airheads", the band "Suns of Thunder" started playing a track onstage, "Don't Hate Me Because I'm Beautiful", that sounded like it would have awesome hooks (despite the band/song being trashed by the main characters of the movie). The song, or what little portion we hear, was performed by The Galactic Cowboys. The references I see in Wikipedia, etc., claim that this song was never released anywhere. So here's the question: does the song exist in its complete form? If so, where? I'd love to hear the full version. -Dan P.S. What a stupid, yet incredibly awesome movie. Beginning of the song can be caught in this clip from the movie: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a9JyMPI4dNM&feature=related
  25. Hmmm... as a general rule, we don't lock threads, regardless of how old they are, so anyone is free to dredge them up at any time. The only exception is the Retrospect Records forum, which is set to read-only.... and no, I'm not reopening that. -Dan
