  1. Their storage tanks of extra daylight don't empty as quickly. Seriously though, it actually never was for the farmers: https://www.nytimes.com/article/daylight-saving-time-questions.html "To farmers, daylight saving time is a disruptive schedule foisted on them by the federal government; a popular myth even blamed them for its existence. To some parents, it’s a nuisance that can throw bedtime into chaos. To small business owners, it’s great."
  2. I do a lot of thrifting, picking up discs for eBay resale, but VERY little of it ends up being in HH genres. Actual used CD stores around here are long gone.
  3. It was just a reference site at first, called "The Halls of Glam" that I hosted on my employee webspace at the University of Illinois. I then moved it off to its own domain, and the message board came later.
  4. A lot has happened in the 25 years that HH has been around (in one form or another). Not just in the world, but in everyone's lives, habits, and preferences, not to mention new technologies, platforms, etc. When this site started there was no music streaming. We traded CD-Rs. Now people don't know what a CD-R even is. -Dan
  5. Just about one week left in the annual donation drive and we've crawled across the 50% of goal mark. So half of the year's out-of-pocket expenses are covered... but it looks like the drive will finish well short compared to the last several years. Thank you to everyone who has supported thus far, and if you haven't... well poopypants on you! I'll probably leave the dono links/buttons up for a week or so after the 31st just in case I can nag any more deadbeats into contributing. -Dan
  6. Well we're in a good mood this morning I see... I've taken the step of staying away from news, social media, etc. and just ignoring the rest of the world burning. There's nothing I can do about it anyway. It's ironic that all the prognosticators had said that "Oh noes! Trump will get us into World War III" yet nothing happened under his watch, and look where we are now. The current administration is giving away all our tax dollars to outher countries on not one, but TWO war fronts... while opening the southern border to millions of illegals that we can't support. It's only going to get worse heading into next year's election. Disconnect and just listen to music until the world inevitably implodes. Happy Monday everybody!!!
  7. The prior blu-rays of this ilk with Styx and Tommy Shaw were quite decent, so I don't expect this to be any different. Given as huge a pain in the ass tracking down previous Night Ranger blu-rays has been once they go out of print, I would suggest not waiting if this is up your alley. 8. Amusing... pizza anyone? http://www.ballsqueezer.net/
  9. Eww. My favorite comment on the page is "Of all the songs Roger Waters has recorded over the years, that is certainly one of them".
  10. Two-thirds of the way through the drive and 2 weeks left to go. Unfortunately, we haven't even hit the 50% mark. It's on track to be the lowest annual donation drive since 2012. Sigh. Thanks to everyone who has donated to support the site. -Dan
  11. Out now on BMG Records... absolutely nothing like Slipknot at all... not like Stone Sour either IMO, although closer to the latter than the former.
  12. No one ever has to apologize for making a small donation. They all count. The $2 and $5 donations all come together towards the goal. There are many here who have never donated a cent (as is their right) to support the site, so please don't sell yourself short. Thank you! -Dan
  13. Musically very reminiscent of CCM AOR of the late 1980s and early 1990s... unfortunately it also sounds like it was recorded in someone's garage back then.
  14. Half way through the annual donation drive and things have trailed off a bit; we're at just under 1/3 of the way to covering the site's annual expenses. Most of the regular contributors have already donated, although I'm not seeing some names I've regularly seen in the past; people who also haven't been here on the board regularly for a while. As we age, priorities and habits change. Not to mention that the economy and daily expenses suck for many people, so something's gotta go. Old rockers never die... but they do fade away. Thanks to everyone who has contributed thus far. -Dan
  15. Back to the Past (2022). Rerecorded versions of early material I think.
  16. A relatively recent discovery for me, and... damn. This will definitely NOT appeal to the vast majority of members here, but think prog metal meets Megadeth/Metallica meets Amon Amarth (with slightly less Viking).
  17. Yeah, their last album was digital-only too. Sigh.
  18. Two weeks or one-third of the way through the annual donation drive and we're 22% of the way to the goal of covering the year's out-of-pocket expenses. Thank you to everyone who has donated thus far.
  19. Historically never been my jam, but there is some good stuff on this new album. "God of Rock n Roll" especially is a bit of an ear worm. And a track that isn't on the album, that came out last Christmas, that I'm sorry is just fucking awesome:
  20. Never heard of 'em.... shows promise.
  21. Me likey. Me likey vely much. Especially Halo.
  22. Shows promise in some areas... and in other areas not so much.
