From Escape Music:

Here is a track newly recorded by Liar from their unreleased third album title "Sunset Plaza Drive" will be released on Escape Music on the 20 March 2020
'The song 'Woman' was written by the band's Paul Travis in 1979, some six months after Liar broke up. Had it been written six months earlier it may well have been among the songs on this album. Forty years later we have finally recorded it.'

Oh. :(

I was hoping it might be from the band who recorded 'While The City Sleeps.'

Anyway, that's actually not too bad. Not a mad fan... but it's better than I was expecting.

Press release:

After 42 years, the long-lost LIAR album from 1978 will finally see its debut appearance on Escape Music ! The album is entitled "Sunset Plaza Drive" and was originally recorded in Stevie Wonder's Crystal Sound Studios in LA. The album was recorded and mixed but never released, until now. Original members Steve Mann (Michael Schenker Fest, Lionheart), Paul Travis, Dave Taylor and Dave Burton also reunited late last year to record the track "Woman" which will appear as a bonus track on the new release. Written by guitarist Paul Travis just after the band broke up 41 years ago, Steve Mann suggested recording a new up-to-date version of the song. "I was so happy when we got the original guys back together again to record what I consider to be one of the best AOR tracks ever" enthused Mann.

Dedicated to late LIAR drummer Clive Brooks RIP, the album was carefully restored and remastered by Escape Music as A & R director, and co-owner Khalil Turk, has been a LIAR fan for 41 years. "I've loved the band since I first saw them supporting UFO way back in 1979" said Turk "and it's always been my ambition to bring the unreleased album to the market. So I'm extremely happy to have now realised that aim” This is a Dream Come True!!

LIAR originally formed in 1975 and recorded their first album "Straight From The Hip" for Decca Records. The band toured extensively in the UK and throughout Europe before recording the critically acclaimed "Set The World On Fire" in 1977, one of the first colour picture-disc records in the UK. A year later the band were whisked off to LA to write new material ready for the new album. For inspiration, they were ensconced in a house at the top of the Hollywood Hills (next door to Mick Fleetwood) on Sunset Plaza Drive, from which the name of this new release was taken.

The material on the album comprises a collection of wonderful UK-inspired songs which epitomise late 70's West Coast classic rock but which have also well and truly survived the test of time.

I pesonally would like to thank Steve Mann, Paul Travis, Dave Taylor, Dave Burton, and very special thank you to Jan Brooks for keeping the analogue recordings safe for the past 41 years!

Line up
Clive Brooks (RIP) - Drums (x EGG)
Dave Burton – Lead Vocals / Guitars
Dave Taylor – Bass / Vocals
Paul Travis – Guitars / Vocals
Steve Mann – Guitars / Keyboards / Vocals (Michael Schenker Fest, Lionheart)

    • From Escape Music: KEYS has just completed their second album, “The Grand Seduction”.   This all-keyboard band is the brainchild of singer Jake E (Cyhra, Amaranthe and others) and keyboardist Mark Mangold (Touch, Drive, She Said, Michael Bolton, Cher, Paul Rogers and others) with Emanuel Bagge (Sweden’s Got Talent Finalist) on additional vocals and keys, Irwan Fabrien (noted keyboard guitar sound designer) with help of drum gurus Alex Landenburg (Kamelot, Cyhra and others).   Featuring live performances with three keyboardists and a huge battery of keyboards, this ambitious band brings keyboard and instrumental prowess to new heights while playing songs that run the gamut from scathing progressive melodic forays to catchy and melodic rock anthems …and Jake’s award-winning voice (Burrn Vocalist of the year 2020).   Previous KEYS album also featured guest keyboard additions by Charlie Calv of Angel and others.   Though songs are first and foremost, this band shows the versatility of keyboards in this day and age.  These artfully crafted songs are ripe with scathing synth, organ and “guitar” pyrotechnics, dazzling time signatures and drumming, bombastic choruses and “guitar” riffs (played on keyboards with the now available plug in’s that perfectly emulate guitars).  As Mark and Jake are first and foremost award winning songwriters, they never lose sight of the composition and melodies, though couched in the very signature and hard to pigeon hole sound (isn’t that the whole point?) of this band and Jake's 4 octave vocal range.   Release Date: 19th July 2024 CD Catalogue No: ESM389   CD Track List: 1. • No replies in this thread, really? These guys deserves your recognition, absolutely quality stuff!
    • Listening to this in a shopping centre with the phone to my ear and it sounds ok. But overall underwhelmed. Bed City were awesome and his vocal we top notch. But I like to think I can disregard that and hear it for what it is. I think it's the Christian stuff that is holding me back. And I dealt with Stryper stuff no problems so I'm trying to figure out why this isn't sitting well I guess times have changed and styper always came off as a bit gimmicky or shticky and kind of fun. It's also 30 years later and I really don't care Bout the Christian messages. They are boring now. Even Stryper aren't as obvious in their lyrics these days. Or maybe it's all just a reminder of the shit Josh did that landed him in jail? Silly to constantly remind people of that. Would prefer just some fun rock music I think.
    • Nate seems like a legit nice guy too… From his FB page: I just want to thank everyone for such a positive response on the latest announcement! It means the world❤️ I will do my absolute best to honor Cj’s legacy and keep his name alive each show. Hope to see you all soon Best Regards  Nate Peck   And from earlier this year, this lovely pic of him and CJ
    • On Instagram where Stevie Rachelle posted the link to the story it was crazy how many people don't know anything about the bands recent history or read the article. Several people moaning how they are replacing him too quick etc without realising he has been touring with the band since last year when he was covering for a recovering CJ and that Nate and CJ actually became really good friends. CJ would have wanted them to carry on and gave this guy his blessing, essentially.
