Has Hell frozen over? Last I heard, Mustaine still totally hated Junior's guts. Oh well, whatever. Welcome back Junior! :banger:

MEGADETH Rejoined By Bassist DAVID ELLEFSON - Feb. 8, 2010

MEGADETH founder and frontman Dave Mustaine has announced the return of original bassist David Ellefson (1983-2002) to the iconic multi-platinum group. This reunion is appropriately timed to MEGADETH's upcoming historic month-long "Rust In Peace" 20th anniversary tour which launches March 1 in Spokane, WA. At these incredibly special shows, MEGADETH will play their landmark, genre-defining 1990 album "Rust In Peace" in its entirety, in addition to other MEGADETH favorites.

"This shows the power of brotherly love and forgiveness," Mustaine says. "David Ellefson belongs in MEGADETH. Next we are going to show you the power of getting your asses kicked...HARD!"

David Ellefson concurs: "This is a huge moment for all of us, band and fans alike. It is a great celebration of the music from one of the biggest landmark albums of our career."

Ellefson will join Mustaine and MEGADETH band members Shawn Drover (drums) and Chris Broderick (guitar) on tour in support of the group's current CD, "Endgame", which has received some of the highest critical accolades of the band's career.

"We'd like to thank James Lomenzo for several years of loyal service on the bass, and wish him the very best," Mustaine adds.

Great news for everyone except JLO(James Lomenzo).

Maybe he's headed for a White Lion reunion(he did say recently that he'd be up for one if it happened).

As Keef says has hell froze over? I had read that their hatred towards each other had lessened recently but this still suprises me. This does make it more like Megadeth and not as much a Dave solo thing since Junior was the only surviving member for so long(which means he knew when to keep his mouth shut).

Presumably both felt they could put any personal differences to one side if it meant some extra $$$. Hopefully Mustaine will be true to his word and close his career with a truly KILLER album, though I somehow doubt that will happen....

BIG suprise this one! Hope they put out some good stuff now then ... I thought last year's album was massively overrated. I know I'm in a very tiny minority in that respect though.

I agree with that statement. It was about a 7.5/10 disc, which is about the best we could possibly expect from MEGADETH these days IMO.

Marty Friedman is too busy playing music on Japanese game shows and guest appearances on J-Pop star albums. He's the thrash version of Vivian Campbell.

Hm. By the way I listened to the latest Tourniquet album on which Marty plays almost all the solos but to tell the truth there was NOT any moment on the disc that reminded me of his (once?) unique style... :(
