Have you ever picked up a cd just because the cover/songtitles look like a rock/metal album, but then you play it and its a completely different type of music? Its probably less prevalent in the age of the net but has it ever happened to you?

Yep, happened to me a few times. Hard to remember the groups as I quickly got rid of them all, but there was one called Seka which was a disaster.

I picked up a lp awhile back called Tranzit "Necessary Love".....the cover looked metal, black backround with winged logo, wasn't much band info or band photo on lp, when I got home and threw it on the turntable......it was what I would call Spanish disco....lucky I only payed a buck for it...

2 Times. Both of are country. One is called BRENT LEE AND THE OUTSIDERS. Anyone here, except if you have already heard of them, would definitely buy this one just because of their band photo - totally hair band appearance.

Well, here's my story. I bought a lot of Christian Metal tapes off ebay. Now the lot included stuff like Angelica, Rez, Vengeance Rising, and a band called "Street Angel". Put it on and it was total U2 type alt rock with a folk influence. Guess the guy who sold it to me wanted to get rid of it as well!

hahaha...the same story for all collectors who were wasting time in little and obscure hidding shops (

before internet and ebay, of course...)

I bought a lot of that "kind" of stuff (very good covers and inserts, and awfull music....)I can´t remeber all of them with I waste my money, but I have an special bad feeling of this one: WAABA-NEE-s/t . These guys should be put in jail for wear leather dresses and disturb people´s ears...

Yep!

Same here...

Can't remember the names. There was one band that had me so confused that when I got rid of it. I put in big black marker on the jewel case NOT METAL, so's not to confuse the next poor bastard...

    • New song 'Til I Die' from the forthcoming album 'Soulbound' out February 28th through Frontiers. From Frontiers: Frontiers Music Srl is pleased to announce the upcoming release of legendary rock vocalist Robin McAuley's new solo album, "Soulbound". This new album sees McAuley's voice continuing to defy time and sounding as inspired and powerful as ever. The new album is definitively more guitars driven compared to the previous albums and the music itself is more straight hard rock than his previous effort, but still wonderfully melodic, infectious, and fist-in-the-air uplifting. McAuley's continues to showcase the desire of the respected Irish rock singer to make a strong musical statement in a period that was more creative than ever for him. After reemerging on the recording side of the music industry with guest spots on Michael Schenker Fest albums and tours and fronting the hard rock supergroup Black Swan, McAuley was (and still is) feeling invigorated and ready to explore even more creative output to let the world see that his voice was (and, again, still is) as powerful as ever. Work for "Soulbound" began on early 2024, following an intense musical period in between tour dates and studio work, with a slightly different approach compared to the previous album and Robin’s vocal performance on this album is simply oustanding. "Soulbound" delivers the more hard and heavy aspects of this respected artist, truly an iconic voice of the genre! Robin's backing band include some of the previous artists appeared with him on the previous effort, including guitarist Andrea Seveso, together with some new talent “a such as guitarist Alessandro Mammola and drummer Alfonso Mocerino. The album is produced by Aldo Lonobile. Robin McAuley is widely recognized as one of the great singers of a golden period in hard rock music. His voice can be heard on albums from Grand Prix and Far Corporation, and of course on the chart topping MSG records “Perfect Timing,” “Save Yourself,” and “MSG”. Through these releases, he was introduced to hard rock fans around the globe, who no doubt recognized the inherent talent and skill in his vocal abilities. Once he departed MSG, he released one solo record in 1999, then joined AOR legends Survivor, and then re-grouped with Schenker in Michael Schenker Fest on their recent records "Resurrection" and "Revelation". And of course, in what was an absolute revelation to hard rock fans around the world, in 2020, he came out swingin' as the frontman of the supergroup Black Swan, where he joined forces with Reb Beach (Whitesnake, Winger), Jeff Pilson (Foreigner, ex-Dokken), and Matt Starr (Ace Frehley, Mr Big). "Soulbound" Track List: 1. ‘Til I Die 2. Soulbound 3. The Best of Me 4. Crazy 5. Let It Go 6. Wonders of the World 7. One Good Reason 8. Bloody Bruised and Beautiful 9. Paradise 10. Born To Die 11. • All great choices. For me missing Cats In Space which I thought was a big return to form.
    • Tops for me this year is likely set as I don't see anything coming out that would change it. 1)  Kissin' Dynamite - Back With A Bang 2)  Eclipse - Megalomanium II 3)  Maverick - Silver Tongue 4)  New Roses - Attracked to Danger 5)  Collateral - Should've Known Better Honorable mention to Sebastian Bach, Judas Priest, Nestor, Daughtry (EP), Lansdowne (EP) as those would be next in some order. Really though, the top 3 above were a tier above the rest for me.  Loved Kissin' Dynamite.  Maybe not quite as strong as their last release overall but still excellent.  Eclipse kind of surprised me a little only because I didn't care much for Megalomanium I at all and didn't have high expectations for part II.  However, for me it's excellent with some well written, catchy songs.  And kudos to Maverick also as for me, Silver Tongue might be my favorite release of theirs.   On to 2025.  Looking forward to Crazy Lixx, Midnite City, Shiraz Lane, maybe Def Leppard....not sure what else.
    • I'll save my recently designated go to Christmas song for Christmas eve. In the meantime, this is as Christmas as Metal gets, or as Metal as Christmas gets... one or the other.
    • Silverback is promoter. Would good see Shotgun Mistress or Ablaze get the support.
