Street Legal - Thunderdome

The "Thunderdome" release from 2000 was pretty good IMO. Hard rock in the vein of Thin Lizzy with touches of Whitesnake. Now they are about to release the new one ("Bite The Bullet") through Frontiers in early 2009.
I'm not sure if these two songs (demos) are featured on it but take a listen to Somebody Up There Likes Me and the smokin' version of Michael Sembello's Maniac

Great stuff :banger:

So the new one from Street Legal is coming out on March 13th. Am I the only one looking forward to this?

A band that I'm not too familiar with but judging by these samples I should check out more of them. Great stuff!

boy haven't we been kept waiting a real long time for this, wasn't tghis suposed to be out 2003/2004?

i'm extremely keen on checking this out :beerbang:

Don't know what the problem was with the new one but it is long overdue. The debut was a bit divided, half of the album pretty decent, the other half simply excellent.

I could download it right now but don't care for them...

I could give it a spin too, but I also haven't bothered... yet. I am thinking of doing so out of respect to DaVinci, but I can't say I'm excited. The debut wasn't awful, but wasn't real good either.

Well, got to track 9 and just had to call it a day. I tried. If you liked the debut you might like this, but I think it's even worse (because there was one great ballad on the debut). The thing is, this is not BAD music. If you like older Whitesnake, or Badlands and that type of thing this is probably up your alley, but it is really, really not my scene. Not a decent chorus or beefy riff or hook to be found on this thing...

Glad thy're back after tha accident.

The first one really didn't grab me, except the song powertool and some others few.

Now I must take it out of my cellar, It's been there for so long time.

The new mp3 are itneresting,

Maniac is a cover heard form many other bands, like my sharona for example ,

It should be better Use more fantasy and choose something more original than this deja heard cover.

This band in no way sounds like Badlands but is instead an awesome tribute to the great Thin Lizzy.

If you like Thin Lizzy with a small dash of Whitesnake then you'd love this band but if don't appreciate Lizzy then you wouldn't like this band it's that simple IMO. The new one 'Street Legal' is awesome IMO and is full of great harmonies and great musicianship with some excellent songs.

There were a few excellent songs on this release. 'Red Light District' is awesome, 'Wrong Side Of Time' also. 'Chasing The Rainbow' another winner.

Agreed, some really good songs, of which I'd include the title track, but also a few that I usually skip when playing the cd

    • I've enjoyed a few recent releases from these guys but gotta admit I was a bit underwhelmed by this. 'Attracted To Danger' was my favourite track but for me it falls short of at least the album two releases back. I think the last one was a bit lukewarm for me too. Okay for what it is.
    • Haha, I have actually used that one a bit, cob. You think it makes a big difference? Always so hard to tell which prompts land and which don't when you use 10 or so prompts. But I'll be sure to keep that one up front, though. And play with it tonight.  I used the "big production" one again last night and songs were definitely crisper than the night before when a lot of my results were very "treble-y" for lack of a better term. So big production and big drums up high in the mix tonight.  Anyway, peaks and troughs. I'm going through a passage where I'm penning a whole bunch of new tracks. I do a lot of driving, but also a quite a bit of walking for my job, and I've got in the habit of jotting stuff down in my Notes app whenever something comes to me as I walk around, and trying to pump out a few new tunes. A few by-the-numbers melodic rock tracks mostly, but I got one yesterday and I really loved the outcome. A bit of a more "random" tune, but I'll be cursed if I don't actually quite like how this one came out; https://suno.com/song/885e4b14-3e08-45cf-8e33-d2e1cfd04e42
    • I have to agree sadly.  I've said it before, but Steve's passing showed that Gotthard were basically a Steve Lee backing band.
    • I guess this is a bit of a Gotthard appreciation thread now. Their debut is the best for me (I was lucky enough to own this when it was first released). Followed closely behind by the others mentioned.  Here's three of my favourites from the debut. "Angel" was the first Gotthard song I heard and was blown away by. "Firedance" is a Killer with a Killer guitar solo featuring guest guitarist Vivian Campbell and "Hush" is the first in their long line of great cover tracks.
    • This is the correct answer. With Steve, I assume, is what you mean.
    • Domino Effect, Lipservice, and Need to Believe were the last with Steve, and are all quite different. G. is my favourite album of theirs. The debut and Dial Hard are pretty much the exact same sound, but I could only pick one, because they asked for five suggestions. ;}
    • Geoff, you'll love the prompt 'big drums'. Right up your street. Give it a go.
    • although I am a huge fan of Dial Hard also.
