  1. In the mail today from Mr. Helix himself Brian Vollmer: Helix - The Early Years (Breaking Loose/White Lace & Black Leather 2 on 1 disc, autographed)
  2. Worst would be Great White with "fat" Jack in '03 (I think). The band had been out on the river all day partying it up and were a mess. The sound kept fucking up and that was the infamous show where Jack lifted his shirt up over his massive sunburned belly and yelled out "who wants some of this?". Awful, awful show. Second worst would be Gear Daddies. They have been a favorite of mine for a long time and I was so excited to finally get a chance to see them live. The sucky part was due more to the girls in the audience than the band though. They played a few Gear Daddies songs then did a Neil Diamond song. When they finished that song the lead singer Martin Zellar asked what we wanted to hear. A few of us were yelling out Gear Daddies songs, but a bunch of girls in the front row kept screaming for more Neil Diamond. He looks at them and says "I guess it's another Neil Diamond song". I was up front off to the side of the stage and I see him turn his back to us and say sarcastically to the band "They want Neil Diamond, we'll give 'em fucking Neil Diamond all night long". And they did. It really sucked. But all the screaming chicks up front sure were happy.
  3. Hmm...23 songs. Guess mine would be a two disc best of. The order would be different but these would be the songs I would choose. So Good, So Fine One Step Away Hard Time Lovin' You's a Dirty Job Shame Shame Shame What's It Gonna Be I Want To Love You Tonight Way Cool Jr. I Want A Woman City To City Seventh Avenue Body Talk Slip Of The Lip Dance Got Me On the Line Closer to My Heart Lay it Down Never Use Love You're in Love Lack Of Communication Wanted Man Round And Round You Think You're Tough
  4. Saw Night Ranger last year at Rib Fest in Sioux Falls with my daughter. The more I think about it, the more I believe that is the best concert I have seen. Just an absolutely fantastic show.
  5. I'll second that. No Fuel with Riskin' being a very close second. Some great songs on both but "Sleeping My Day Away" pushes No Fuel over the top. Everything after Riskin' is unfortunately just way too hit or miss.
  6. Thanks! I'm hoping for a Jets/Wild Stanley Cup final. \m/
  7. I may be wrong but I don't think it's ever been officially pressed as a cd.
  8. Dude...what? What??? You dare blaspheme Dirty Looks? You're sleeping by the piss bucket in June!
  9. It's so frustrating when everything about a song is great except the chorus. (It's how I feel about 90% of Power Metal.) In this case, it sounds like they wrote some cool verses, great guitar solos, then ran out of ideas. Real shame as it could have been so much better, but I'll still get this one as there's enough to recommend it. Wow...I am absolutley LOVING this cd EXCEPT for them repeating the same thing in the chorus over and over and over and over and over and over. I'm trying not to focus on it but it's so obvious it's just killing each song. Very unfortunate.
  10. Nice. Thanks...the guys I was with about strung me up when I threw it in the player though. In the mail today: Led Zeppelin - Led Zeppelin I

  12. Awesome show last night! Snakeskin Whiskey from Montreal opened and were terrific. They have a very cool early 80's NWOBHM vibe that reminds me of a mix between Mad Max and Samson. They NEED to get a cd out though. They said they had some production problems getting the cd out and their songs are only available on itunes which I don't do. Crucified Barbara were next up and were a lot of fun. They remind me of a heavier version of the Runaways which really isn't my favorite style of music, but they can play and they are easy on the eyes. Crashdiet then came on and absolutely killed it! Not a huge crowd so we were up front against the stage all night and the band really seemed to get into it. They even asked for requests and joked/interacted with the crowd. Then they came out after the show and just hung out with the everyone and took the time to sign autographs and take photos. Snakeskin Whiskey did the same. Crucified Barbara was the only band that (as far as I know) didn't come out and mingle. It sucked that the merchandise booth only had small and medium t-shirts. Hate to break it to you but this isn't Japan. The poor gal selling the merchandise was extremely apologetic though. We had a kickass time there and had probably the best service ever from the waitress. I think she made $20 in tips from me alone. Oh and I threw my back out while out there headbanging. Must be getting to old for this. Crashdiet Setlist: Change The World Circus Tikket Anarchy Breakin' the Chainz Rebel In the Raw Queen Obscene / 69 Shots Got A Reason It's a Miracle Garden of Babylon Encore: Riot in Everyone Chemical So Alive (audience request) Down With the Dust Cocaine Cowboys Generation Wild
  13. Today's the day! Hitting the road in about a half hour. Should be a great show!! \m/
  14. Ol' Red is an ok song but I can think of about 1000 other country songs that would top those two on my list, of course it all boils down to each persons individual tastes/preferences. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mX9CURegzTM http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rg0xxYy_r1s http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TGpBWodXXk0
  15. No Rest For The Wicked is my fav. Heck, I like it so much I own three versions of it.
  16. I would argue that it is incumbent upon the label/band to reveal up front what they are selling. The consumer should not have to ask. Absolutely!
  17. Not necessarily with the De La Cruz album because I haven't heard it yet, but just people differing with the popular opinion on pretty much anything in general here on the boards.
  18. I'll let ya know when it happens. *Actually, now that I think about it, there was an indie release I ran across 6-7 years back where the production was so bad that the bass sounded like someone farting in a trashcan. I couldn't enjoy that CD no matter how hard I tried... I can't remember the name of the cursed thing to save me right now (I'll post it when I do!), but yeah, unfortunately, it has happened. Isn't there a band with that name? If not there should be!
  19. Crash Kelly - Penny Pills Crash Kelly - One More Heart Attack
  20. So for those that have heard it, is this 'Guns for Hyre' album pretty decent? Something that deserves a cd reissue?
  21. I just ordered this today...with all the great comments I'm really looking forward to it.
  22. And catchy as hell...I was singing "She's dirty dynamite" all weekend long...but that was the only line I could remember!
  23. This album is still rocking my face off! Great party cd!!
