  1. 30 YEARS?! Jeez! I bought that when it first came out - man, I'm old! *sob!*
  2. Erm ... so you haven't seen Sin City, then? Yup. Seen it. Didn't enjoy it.
  3. V For Vendetta, hands down. As an aside, my mate's brother is one of the Fingermen who gets his ass handed to him on a plate in the opening scene ... Hellboy was good, too ... not such a fan of Batman/Superman ... the first couple of X-Men films were okay, Iron Man was fantastic ... Um ...
  4. Flies On Fire's debut (from 1990, I think) ... I'd forgotten how good it was
  5. After having tasted her Rocky Road (as it were), your dear lady wife can do very little wrong in my eyes ... I especialy appreciate her efforts to get me to take your entire CD collection home with me whenever we visit
  6. I have to say that I agree with you, Ali ... I still love the first Bangalore Choir album (I just didn't 'get' what he did with Accept), and there's part of me that wants to enjoy this album as much as other posters seem to (after all, previous Tango Down offerings have had me rocking like a bastard), but I'm having trouble getting past the 'voice for hire' aspect of it all ...
  7. Muppet. I actually went to the trouble of listening to it. I think 'Muppet' is a leetle bit harsh! Does this mean that you'll never trust my judgement again?
  8. I had to go with In Rock We Trust as it's the album that got me into Y&T in the first place
  9. You need help mate! Tell me this isn't indescribably awesome: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7lWhLLujjDA Hm ... I appear to have put the cat among your pigeons, and no mistake! '1987' isn't a BAD album ... just not my favourite album from the year in question ... and certainly not my favourite Whitesnake album I will concede that you may have a point when it comes to the geetar solo ... now leave me to enjoy my Dad Rock in peace!
  10. Mercyful Fate's 'Melissa' is a good one for Halloween ... of course, it never hurts to give Diamond Head's 'Am I Evil?' a spin at this time of year, either ...
  11. I think we both agree that caramel vodka is a bad idea after a night on the wine
  12. I can listen to '1987' if I pretend it ain't Whitesnake ... does that help?
  13. 'Danse Macabre' by Celtic Frost
  14. I think it's good to recognise where our favourite bands' inspiration came from, but I don't think it's healthy to declare something to be 'essentail listening' when everyone's tastes are so different ... Steve Harris loves Golden Earring - as much as I love Iron Maiden, Golden Earring leave me cold; Joe Elliott is a huge fan of Ian Hunter - I'm not ... Lemmy has often professed his admiration for The Beatles, but I doubt that every Motorhead fan out there feels the same ... For the record, I like a lot of Queen's stuff, but I don't rate their first two albums at all
  15. "1987" sure is a departure from the old school Whitesnake, but what about the Leps and their Hysteria? The change is even more dramatic when you compare it with High&Dry, don't you think? Oh, hell, yeah - and I love High 'n' Dry ... but I think the seeds for Hysteria were already sown with Pyromania (especially when you listen to some of the vocal harmonies ... give 'Too Late For Love' some polish, and it'd fit quite nicely on Hysteria.) If you listen to the three albums back to back, you can hear how the band developed their sound. The leap from Slide It In to 1987 is just a bit too jarring for me ... even with the the 'US Remix' of the former ...
  16. Tough call - had to go for Leppard over Guns in the end ... I really like 'Permanent Vacation', and 'Pride' ain't bad ... but as an 'old school' Whitesnake fan, I'll avoid '1987' like the proverbial plague, thank you very much ...
  17. Had to go with Athrax in the end ... Helloween are a close second ... I prefer 'Never, Neverland' to Annihilator's debut (hang on, I'll just get me coat) ...
  18. If Floor Jansen takes up the mic permanently, I'll be a happy man - love Nightwish, love After Forever/Re-Vamp ... and, sorry JimBob, Floor is far easier on the eye than either Tarja or Annette
  19. Ah, my mistake - I was reading an article about their 2012 Summer Tour - oops! Slipknot have just been announced as the Friday headliners for Download, so that's ONE bullet dodged if I just get myself a Saturday ticket
  20. Money is a HUGE issue for me. I've missed many a cracking gig thanks to the lack of ready cash ... I'm still trying to understand how, in many cases, the 'handling fee' for each ticket can be so high ... are these tickets being handled by [insert name of hot babe/fella of your choice here]?
  21. I think last year there were something like 8 bands that I would pay money to see, spread over the three days ... I have a feeling that this year will be the same - so here's hoping that Maiden decide to do a UK tour with Alice Cooper next year (which is what they're apparently doing in the US and Canada)
  22. As we've moved on to the more gothic and symphonic stuff, I have to mention Vibeke Stene, who as well as having a great voice is very attractive: Pity she's now left the band to go back to teaching ...
  23. My mate, JamesEagle (hereafter referred to as 'that bastard'), played me some tracks at the weekend ... I have to admit, I liked what I heard ...
