I still love the first Bangalore Choir album (I just didn't 'get' what he did with Accept), and there's part of me that wants to enjoy this album as much as other posters seem to (after all, previous Tango Down offerings have had me rocking like a bastard), but I'm having trouble getting past the 'voice for hire' aspect of it all ...

I think it's good to recognise where our favourite bands' inspiration came from, but I don't think it's healthy to declare something to be 'essentail listening' when everyone's tastes are so different ... Steve Harris loves Golden Earring - as much as I love Iron Maiden, Golden Earring leave me cold; Joe Elliott is a huge fan of Ian Hunter - I'm not ... Lemmy has often professed his admiration for The Beatles, but I doubt that every Motorhead fan out there feels the same ... For the record, I like a lot of Queen's stuff, but I don't rate their first two albums at all

"1987" sure is a departure from the old school Whitesnake, but what about the Leps and their Hysteria? The change is even more dramatic when you compare it with High&Dry, don't you think? Oh, hell, yeah - and I love High 'n' Dry ... but I think the seeds for Hysteria were already sown with Pyromania (especially when you listen to some of the vocal harmonies ... give 'Too Late For Love' some polish, and it'd fit quite nicely on Hysteria.) If you listen to the three albums back to back, you can hear how the band developed their sound.The leap from Slide It In to 1987 is just a bit too jarring for me ... even with the the 'US Remix' of the former ...

Tough call - had to go for Leppard over Guns in the end ... I really like 'Permanent Vacation', and 'Pride' ain't bad ... but as an 'old school' Whitesnake fan, I'll avoid '1987' like the proverbial plague, thank you very much ...

Ah, my mistake - I was reading an article about their 2012 Summer Tour - oops! Slipknot have just been announced as the Friday headliners for Download, so that's ONE bullet dodged if I just get myself a Saturday ticket

Money is a HUGE issue for me. I've missed many a cracking gig thanks to the lack of ready cash ... I'm still trying to understand how, in many cases, the 'handling fee' for each ticket can be so high ... are these tickets being handled by [insert name of hot babe/fella of your choice here]?

I think last year there were something like 8 bands that I would pay money to see, spread over the three days ... I have a feeling that this year will be the same - so here's hoping that Maiden decide to do a UK tour with Alice Cooper next year (which is what they're apparently doing in the US and Canada)

As we've moved on to the more gothic and symphonic stuff, I have to mention Vibeke Stene, who as well as having a great voice is very attractive: Pity she's now left the band to go back to teaching ...
