Agreed, Sahara is my fav HOL album as well. I love their cover of "Can't Find My Way Home". The debut is fantastic but I would put Sahara at the top. Finally someone else that has good taste like me! I've been talking up Sahara for years and most around here seem to think it's weak when compared to the debut and Demons Down. I also love that cover of "Can't Find My Way Home" and "Remember My Name" has to be one of the best ballad ever and loved that video back in the day when it was on dial MTV. Plus Doug Aldrich played on this album although I've never been sure which songs he played on. Demons Down is an excellent album as well but Sahara has always been my fav. The debut may have been softer, but the debut had 'Edge of Your Life' and 'Hearts of the World', 2 of my absolute favourite rock songs of all time. Nothing House of Lords (or most other bands) have done since gets anywhere near the perfection of these 2 songs for me. Picking which of the first 3 albums by HOL is best is like picking between Megan Fox, Mila Kunis and Scarlett Johanssen. All are various shades of awesomeness. ... and all so far out of your league that they may as well be in another dimension. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to take a comfy seat here in my glass house

I had this CD a while back, but I didn't think it was as great as the reviews at the time would suggest ... there are a couple of really good songs on there ('Knocked Up' is fantastic), but overall I don't think it's anywhere near as good as the stuff he did with the Satellites ... I prefer his second solo album, 'Buffalo Nickel' ...

To be honest, I'd prefer NOT to see Venom inducted - they're already acknowledged by bands and fans alike as a major influence, so do they really need a pat on the back from some awarding body that none of us really give two hooots about? Would it really make a blind bit of difference to how they're seen by the rest of the music industry? That said, I'd LOVE to hear Cronos' acceptance speech ... delivered in his broad Geordie accent! Im sorry Gibbo, that was being posted with HUGE!! Sarcasm, no I do not believe Cronos would even show up if they were inducted, he already basically made about as big of a joke anyone could possibly make over Metallica being inducted, and you know if for whatever reason they were inducted, the only reason they would show up, would be in jest, you know Cronos would get up there, make a sarcastic joke aimed towards Henry Rollins, possibly another towards Metallica, and then tell everyone how he couldn't wait to get home and wipe his ass with whatever awards they were giving him, then possibly play the most ear ringing, spine breaking, obnoxious version of Black Metal he has ever played, never mind, I would love nothing more then to see Venom show up at a trendy, well publicized, and heavily viewed event, just to see the peoples faces when they broke into Black Metal, Teachers Pet, Flytrap, or Acid Queen, that would be worth anything I could give to have Venom crash the MTV Music Awards, or to ruin The Rock N Roll Hall Of Fame! That's what I think!!! That would be brilliant! I used to work with Al Barnes (who played on some of the later, Tony Dolan-era Venom albums) ... it was all I could do not to turn into a dribbling fanboy ... never mind that the later albums have been completely ignored - the guy played with VENOM! As an aside, I saw an awards ceremony where The KLF (remember them?) came onstage with Extreme Noise Terror and murdered 'What Time Is Love?' ... before whipping out some replica machine pistols and firing blanks over the heads of the suits in the audience ... live television at its best

Great post. These awards are completely worthless and it's shameful that they are allowed to have the moniker "Hall of Fame". 'Hall Of Whoever The Suits Have Actually Heard Of'

Diamond Head with Sean Harris ... saw them supporting Metallica at Milton Keynes in '93, and they were SUPERB (even with Harris' strange choice in stage clothing)!

I think I saw them tour the debut at Southend Esplanade - the memory is a bit misty now Blimey - the Esplanade! That takes me back ... I saw Bang Tango there ... pity they turned it into a 'family pub' ... Never saw Bang Tango there....must have missed that one. But I did see the following (amongst others)....bearing in mind it held about 200 you can imagine how awesome these were ! Romeo's Daughter Thunder Love/Hate Pearl Jam Crown Of Thorns Bang Tango were touring their 'Love After Death' album at the time ... I wish I'd seen Thunder there I missed Pearl Jam (much to my lasting regret), but I did see Catherine Wheel ... did/do you ever go to gigs at Chinnerys? I saw Hardcore Superstar there years ago ... with a crowd of about 20 people ... not to mention Ginger Wildheart (in his Clam Abuse guise) ... makes me wish I was 20 years younger ... *sob* I went there once, but who I saw God only knows - cant remember. Tend to use Riga Music Bar now - have seen MSG (with Schenker) and Fish there in recent times (last year or so) - both brilliant gigs. I was at the Fish gig with my dear lady wife ... she STILL isn't happy that he didn't play 'The Company'

Yeah, the debut is a good album, but slightly overrated IMO. Decent live band though. There are a handful of live tracks on the re-issue - they're pretty good

I picked up the re-issued version of RD's debut for the princely sum of £0.99 the other day ... after everything I'd read, I was expecting it to be the Second Coming of British melodic rock ... it's okay, but it'f FAR lighter than I was expecting ... it reminded me in places of Berlin (the band, not the city, obviously!)

Van Halen? Really? Their second album was fantastic! The sophomore effort that really falls short for me is Bon Jovi's ... one or two halfway decent songs, but nothing special ... I also agree that Freakshow was a major disappointment after the Bulletboys' debut ... how about Vain? What do other HH posters think of what came after the jaw-droppingly brilliant 'No Respect'?
