  1. I admit it wasn't as good as the first and it's been a while since I've seen it, but I thought it was pretty cool. I can't remember fully, but I think it's downfall was a bit of 'been there, done that' about it, hey? I'll have to see it again methinks...
  2. Man I wish I could take back my vote because I'd never heard 'Down for the count' until recently and when I posted here... and IMO that is BY FAR the best Y & T release, with 'Anytime' being their best song, IMO. So in your mind, take 1 vote off 'Contagious' and add one onto 'Down for the count' because that's my true thought on the subject. Sensational album!!!
  3. Hotshot - s/t ... Man I am just loving this disc!!! Last year it was Blind Date, this year Hotshot. If I can get one cool early 90's style hard rock release a year I'll be happy forever! LOVE this disc!!! MSG - 'Perfect timing' ... some cool tracks.
  4. Very nice choice - song and band... do you like these guys? Do you have their new album? I still haven't decided if I prefer the debut or the newie... both are awesome.
  5. Hey Swriter, I believe their very own website is the place to go for samples. www.91suite.com I think... or something like that, but they have 'em. Melodicrock.com probably has some now too. Listened to Philip Bardowell at lunch - awesome stuff. 'Dreaming with my eyes wide open' is a marvel.
  6. Karo - 'Heavy brithday' ... 5 gems, a few fillers. It goes alright. Prefer 91 Suite though
  7. 91 Suite - 'Times they change' ... spin one and I like what I hear. Definately heavier than the debut.
  8. I was watching 'Supernova' on Friday night, with Luke Perry, Tia Carera and Lance Hienrickson. Stunning piece of film ( ) but I fell asleep before the end. Can anyone tell me what happens, who survives? If the world survives? Anyone had the displeasure of viewing it also? Planets burn, but hope survives.
  9. Awesome disc. Today I've listened to: Stretch Arm Strong - 'Free at last' (Great modern metal) Trapt - 'Someone in control' (So much better than the fine debut - awesome album) Silverstien - 'Discovering the waterfront' (Definately on of my faves of the year - awesome CD!) The Academy Is... - s/t (Another great one) Bon Jovi - 'Have a nice day' and now, Gemeni Five - 'Babylon rockets' (very good CD). Listened to a lot of music today, like it shoiuld be.
  10. I'm a huge Victory fan, either vocalist although I slightly prefer "El Toro". But damn, what a great f'n band... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> also. Probably THE most consistent band ever. EVERY CD (except maybe 'Instinct, even though I still love it) is nothing short of superb - songs that just blow you away. Love 'em!!! Anyway, listening to Waking Ashland 'Composure' now. Sort of like a cross between Anberlin and Something Corporate with a hint of Vertical Horizon. Very, very good band.
  11. An Asia compilation I made myself earlier today. But now I'm listening to Victory's debut for the first time ever. I thought 'Hungry hearts' was their first CD for ages but recently got the s/t after seeing it here a little while ago. The band is amazing. Can play the brand of rock so many falter with and become ordinary, but they put their own spin, big hooks and delicious style all over it and it's another sensational album. Truly awesome band.
  12. Y & T - 'Down for the count' ; absolutely awesome!!! This and Jim Jidhed's debut are easily the best 2 'older' releases I've heard for the first time this year. Absolutely love this stuff, may even be my favourite Y & T disc. How good is 'Anytime'???!!! Perfect, IMO.
  13. This really is the best thread ever.
  14. 'Wolf Creek' - like an Aussie version of the Chainsaw Massacre films. Pretty cool actually, and I usually hate Aussie films.
  15. Hey Tim (2), do you have the Anatomic 'In for the thrill' CD? This song was originally recorded by these guys back in 2000 and the album is quite awesome (ex-Shy Tiger). If you like it you'll love the rest of the disc. BTW, listening to Impelliteri, a selection.
  16. What is this 15? Very curious??? I have a demo cassette around somewhere that has some pre Buck Cherry tracks back when they called them self Sparrow? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> '15' is thier new disc. Not sure if it's been released yet, only heard an advanced copy. Pretty damn good too. Some great tracks. As for my listenings... Cauterize - 'Paper wings' Bullet for my Valentine ... angry music for a fitting time...
  17. I've got the following on constant rotation: Funeral For a Friend's 2 albums Story of the Year's 2 albums Rise Against's newie The Used's 2 albums ... the reason being I am attending the 'Taste of Chaos' tour in Sydney on this Saturday night to view these bands and Killswitch Engage (Yuck). But I can't wait for the above 4!!!
  18. Hello Geoff, on which PC69 album is this song ? I can't find it on mine. Or do you mean "Shattered Prophecy" ? Thanks Swazi <{POST_SNAPBACK}> its that spectacularly average song from Games People Play. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yeah, Kip is half right . The song is from 'Games People Play', but it is a spectacular riff driven monster of a track which is the opus of PC69's career and a focal point in hard rock history, at least for me anyway. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Thanks to both of you !! Tastes differ as we all know. The Games People Play is one of their albums I am still missing. Besides this song, do you recommend it ?? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yeah, I'd definately recommend it. I think it's probably the 3rd best of the Andi Deris album, but they're all very good so that's not a bad thing. Amazing musicianship is featured on the album, some killer riffs like 'Face in the mirror' and 'Shattered' and overall some very cool songs. Not their best, but IMO a truly essential part of the collection. Definately recommended, and I doubt it'll cost you much to track it down.

  20. About 2-3 years ago I was making a compilation every 6 months or so, but I stopped that. Would love to make heaps of them with the time... but I still think my first was rpobably my best. I can't remember the running order, but here are 14 of the 16 tracks I have on it. Must have been good as I just remembered all these off the top off my head. Can't remember the other 2 songs though. Will try to add the 4 compilations I've done to this thread though when I'm home with them Compilation 1 - The elite collection Seven seas - Steelhouse Lane Just before - Nation With your eyes - Jaded Heart Four Letter words - Masquerade Seal it with a kiss - Casanova Never too late - Pretty Maids Surrender - Steelhouse Lane Still - Steelhouse Lane Never on Monday - Diving For Pearls Stranger than Love - Harem Scarem If you want love - Stun Leer Last Chance - Gunshy Without your love - Amaze Me Shattered - Pink Cream 69 Cheers, Geoff
  21. On the way to work: Skrapp Mettle - Again, I cannot mention enough how much I love 'Spunk Sandwich', 'Swallow that load' and 'Pearl necklace'... just outstanding!!! Smashed Gladys - 2nd album. I honestly thought a dude was singing. Rough sleaze metal, but I like it. Talisman - 'Humanimal'. Love those raunchy riffs!
  22. 'Shanghai Noon' on the weekend, only because nothing else was on. That was about as exciting as polishing my ballsack.
  23. Hey Wotty, how's the new Crystal Ball one? Is it like the first 2 killer albums, or more like the last 2 good solid hard rock, but not great discs? My last few listens have been... Silverstien - awesome The Academy Is... - Very, very good. One of my recent faves - great lyrics. Default - The new one. Wow, what a surprise. Recommended to people here - check out some of those very melodic choruses!!!
  24. 'When love comes down' is a sensational ballad and the reason alone I kept this disc for so long, though the rest is pretty cool metal but not my thing. Sensational ballad though. I listened to the new Shinedown on the way to work, followed by Coastline and now Jossette. Shinedown - 'Us and them'; much rawer than the debut, with better songs and some killer choruses, but not sure overall if it's better than the debut. Good CD and I think their 3rd will be an absolute cracker if they combine the first 2. Coastline - nice CD, but pretty mundane lyrics. Nice though. Jossette - is sounding pretty damn good at the start...
