A valid question i also find myself asking too often.

Yeah, you're right, but i think in more traditional style AOR. In the newer stuff it just seems a bit of a novelty, if used at all.

I find it interesting that in the 80's, no self respecting pop rock/AOR band would be without a saxophone player, yet nowadays a saxophone is unheard of (so to speak). You'd think it would be popping up a bit more often in some of the softer AOR ballady stuff. Don't get me wrong. I don't think it really has a place these days, but some great sax laden tracks that come to mind are, Glen Frey - You belong to the city Icehouse - Don't believe anymore Tim Cappello - I still believe Queensryche - Someone else (full band) Anybody know of any more modern AOR acts to feature the saxophone in any tracks?

I heard an interesting theory that "Bohemian Rhapsody" is actually an account of suicide and sebsequent judgement and damnation in the afterlife. I always assumed it was the story of a young man condemned for murder writing a final letter to his mother whilst facing the gallows or whatever, but if you consider the "man" he just killed at the beginning to be himself and the letter to his mother a suicide note then the song becomes alot darker and deeper. The latter part of the song depicts him begging for his soul as he descends to HELL! I'd be interested in thoughts you guys might have. When i first heard this theory it actually blew me away because it fits perfectly. I think it also may reflect some of the demons Freddy Mercury was dealing with.

The scene where "Mutt Lange" plays "Bringin'on the heartbreak to the guys in the studio is brilliant.

white lion absolutely spot on and you're right about the QR songs. I'm not familiar with the others. I'll have to check them out. Another obscurish one is Jane Doe's version of Devil Woman. It's a great hard rock version and it also allows me to have a song in my collection that i love without the stigma of owning any Cliff Richard material.

Adrenaline Mob's Barracuda, which is an almost note for note perfect rendition of the original (except fot the male vocals of course) and Rob Lamothe's (Riverdogs) version of paranoid which is a complete re-working of the original. Both magnificent. Just wondering what some of your favorite cover versions were and if you prefer one's that stay true to the original or ones that differ from it.

Wig Wam - 667...The Neighbour of the Beast is one of the wittiest titles i've ever come across. Brilliant!

Hilarious portrayal of a metal lead singer by Jim Carrey (His "Welcome to the jungle" lip syncing performance is priceless. It also has one of the best car chase scenes ever. I don't know how an explosive delivery system like that hasn't become more popular in real life.

Their good songs are still good - and they do have some great ones. No excuse in the world for what the lead singer did, but like I said in another thread, I'm just lying to myself if I think it has any impact on how I view their music. And I do have empathy for the other guys in the band too. From every report I've read, the other guys in the band were as shocked as the rest of the world and part of me would feel bad for them to completely bar their music from my ears forever. Anyway, I'm just lucky I'm a simple person. A good song is a good song. Life is really that simple for me. Whether it be One Direction, Lostprophets or christ forbid, if The Darkness ever create a good song. I completely agree, but unfortunately i'd be lying to myself if i thought it didn't impact my views on their music. I think because of watkins' creative input (music, lyrics and i believe cover art design), it just spoils my enjoyment of their stuff. I wish it didn't.

I love "4:00am forever", "Bring 'em down" and "We'll bring an arsenal" by "Lost Prophets", but for obvious reasons i just can't bring myself to listen to them.

I guess there's a few but the one that comes to mind is Drew Hannah from "wildside". "Under the Influence" is one of my favourite albums of all time and although Hannah has a terrible voice it just seems to fit perfectly with the music. I couldn't imagine anyone else on vocals.

The movie itself is nothing special really, but thanks for confirming my memory about the music in it.
