  1. I think i've worked out how to post vids, so i thought i'd start by sharing this little gem. DISCLAIMER : I bear no responsibility for any illusions that may be shattered as a result of watching this video
  2. Yeah, i read he sang with impellitteri also , but as with the above mentioned bands, i can't find a thing. That would have been a killer combo!
  3. No worries mate. Apparently he was with "Americade" briefly, but didn't record anything and i've read elsewhere that he was with the bands "Malice" and "Odin" at some point but again, i can't find anything from those bands with him included. It's a long time between drinks between "Eyes" and Ramos". Maybe he took a break from the industry. I don't know.
  4. Hey guys. I was wondering if anybody knows of anything Mark Weitz has done other than, Eyes - Fullmoon and, Ramos - Living in the light I've always loved his voice but can't find anything other than these two. I find it hard to believe he hasn't done anything else. I've tried google, wiki, etc, but to no avail.
  5. Ditto! I did some Googling. They're a Slovenian band. And they don't sing in English, so if that's an issue you can stop at that one cover. I did the same. Shame. Not singing English for me is a deal breaker, but that cover is great.
  6. Absolutely. What a great album that was. The last song "Ray of Hope" is another very sad ballad. If memory serves, he wrote it for his dying brother.
  7. Hey guys, just a quick couple of questions. Since i joined, i've been wondering what the deal is with the member titles. What do they and the black dots under our pictures represent?
  8. Just heard Kip Winger and Liberty n' Justice's version of "Stayin'Alive". A complete reworking of the original. Interesting.
  9. If you really want your heartstrings tugged, check out Dr Hook - Daddy's little girl.
  10. Wow. That's a dark one.I don't know if the lyrical content goes with the music. Musically it's borderline upbeat. I like it. No real light and shade... other than vocally. Tells a moving story without much fanfare, but it's still great as a song too... imo. This is my favourite song from them, which is pretty moving itself, though nowhere near as dark. But one of my favourite songs in the last few years; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jt0nVCBUWCo Great song. Very listenable.
  11. That was back when the saxaphone was still a staple in most bands and the injectors were definitely channeling that typical 50's sound. Speaking of which, Dion's "The Wanderer" is a track with possibly my favorite sax solo.
  12. Wow. That's a dark one.I don't know if the lyrical content goes with the music. Musically it's borderline upbeat.
  13. I'm with you mate. Been listening to the album all week and enjoying it.Not quite sure where all lack of love is coming from. Obviously a very opinion polarizing band.
  14. Never heard of it before, but that's a pretty nice very typical Aussie kind of 80's tune. Nice. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=530BJSCDTfY Thanks for posting the clip mate.I've got to figure out how to do that myself.
  15. Every one of those songs actually bring a tear to your eye? That's what i was thinking. To me,Europe - Talk to me and, Steelhouse Lane - Seven Seas are actually quite peppy and "feelgood", but as i said earlier it's all about the context. That's the good thing about art (and that's what this music is), sometimes a "break up" song can be depressing or uplifting. It conjures up different feelings for different people......and by the way Karpet, thanks for sharing. That's exactly what i mean. How great would it be to be able to write a song that touches someone so deeply. Good on you mate.
  16. Good point. Perhaps the song is a kind of metaphor for the death of the old Freddie.Another interesting point.....the word "bismillah" which is sung a couple of times in the middle of the song during the court/Divine judgement section is actually Arabic for "in the name of God". Many layers to this song. It's a shame he's not around to enlighten us further
  17. I'm ready for the jibes so here goes. There are several songs (perhaps a few too many), mostly older mainstream, that i struggle to listen to without tearing up a bit. Music (especially our type of music) can illicit many emotions including joy, anger, confidence, fear and of course sadness. I know fans of our music and the people who have found their way to this site feel a real emotional connection to the it and it's hard not to be moved by some of the beautiful ballads. It's usually when the music, lyrics and time of the first listen combine with a memory of some significant sad event or feeling that does it. A couple of AOR/Hardrock songs that get me everytime are, Europe - Tomorrow, and ironically Guns n' Roses - Don't Cry (alt. Version) Any of you guys have any tracks that hit an emotional nerve?
  18. I'm not the biggest fan of the Aussie band "The Venetians", but they did strike gold with their 1988 song "Bitter Tears". One of my favorite Aussie songs ever.
  19. Exactly! This is what i mean. We don't really get this now. Thanks to Geoff i've been listen to Human Zoo's "Precious time" album and it's great. The track "Keep on rockin'" is an excellent example of hard rock sax and they do it well over the entire album. They don't over use it, which is good. I also agree with Goeff about not wanting to hear the sax on everything, but it's great to hear it occasionally and it can really compliment the hard rock if done well ala Foreigner, Human zoo. A couple of other great iconic sax songs, Baker Street, of course and Dire Straits - You're latest trick. INXS was another pop/rock band that relied heavily on the sax. It's good to see bands like Human Zoo still incorporating it in their music.
  20. Love the Human Zoo stuff. I may have to stock up.
  21. Oh Carpet! Kids these days! Agreed, it probably is the greatest rock song in history. Only letdown by one thing....how much radio, mass media play etc. it gets. It certainly gets its fair share of airplay on Melbourne radio, that's for sure. As for the best rock song in history tag..... I don't know. That's a big call. I don't think i could come up with a contender though...Where do you start? Too hard to choose.I could maybe come up with a floating top ten, but even then???
  22. It's a great collection of clippings you have there mate. I'm really enjoying going through them. Thanks for posting.
  23. I may be wrong, but i think bohemian rhapsody predates the AIDS virus.
