  1. OK, 1990 was so damn good, that I couldn't narrow it down to just one 20 choice poll, so I decided to go with two seperate batches! Man, what a year! Commerical monsters from Poison, Ratt, Queensryche, Cinderella, etc...along with high power indies like Friction, Rock Boulevard, Eli, Roxxi, etc... made this one helluva year for hard rockers!
  2. April 26th will be the 20th anniversary of the Chernobyl accident; thought it might be appropriate to bump this thread back up for those who didn't get to see it before.... http://www.cnn.com/2006/WORLD/europe/04/24...e.ap/index.html http://www.angelfire.com/extreme4/kiddofspeed/chapter1.html
  3. Playing now: Warrant - Born Again Yeah, it's closer to Black n Blue than what you normally think of as Warrant, but I'm still enjoying it. "Dirty Jack" , "Bourbon County Line" and "Hell, CA" are 3 really good songs to set the mood early on the disc, and then "Glimmer" provides a nice ballad later on in the order...only my second listen, and liking it more each time! Earlier, had Queensryche - Operation:Mindcrime II going.... It's not as immediate as Mindcrime I was, but there are some good tunes on there... "The Hands" stuck out as my fave the first time through... Mike
  4. The man is EVERYWHERE! What's your fave Jeff Scott Soto work/project? I gotta say...for me personally, I like good ol' JSS solo...his "Lost in Translation" CD is freaking awesome!
  5. Bumping this one back to the top so everyone can read about Mr. Kerlyn.
  6. Robin is HOT, no doubt, but Victoria is just so cute and sweet... I hope we haven't seen the last of that character.
  7. Nothing good ever happens after 2 AM.....
  8. Hello! It is now the beginning of April and Retrospect is pleased to announce much great news. The company continues to grow with more and more retailers stocking our products around the world. Our releases are being played on the radio in half a dozen countries and the hits on the website have more than tripled in the last 3 months. Thanks to all the true fans of melodic rock / AOR who have made this happen. Retrospect also has A & R reps in various parts of the world and are always on the look out for obscure material. Retrospect's merger with a formidable Japanese label is also now complete and you will see the first release as a result of that merger within weeks. The band ENTICE will kick off Retrospect's subsidiary RetroThrash very soon. Defcon has officially sold out of their first pressing and as a result of the huge demand for their work , we are re-issuing 1,000 units of their album which will include 2 bonus tracks , lyrics and pics. Congratulations guys! I'm sure the first press will turn into a nice collectors item. The release of Defcon '2' is also in the works so watch out for that!! In other Defcon news , Tony Artino and Nick LePar have been kind enough to allow Retrospect to re-issue their pre-Defcon band's album DREAMSTREET (1986) which includes the vocalist of Breathless and The Innocent. A fantastic slice of AOR. Mariah and Manila Thrills are also selling mighty well and we'll also see releases Mariah '3' and post-Manila Thrills band Hairy Scary (1992) in the coming weeks. Other signings and releases slated for April.... The Action "Louder Than Words" - 1986 AOR Strike - 1984 - Melodic Hard Rock Cracked Actor - 1989 Female Fronted AOR Weapons - Captive Audience and Second Thoughts (both are cd/dvd sets) AMAZING Melodic Metal from 1986-1990 Herazz - self-titled release from 1987 and Boogeyman (1995) - Hair Metal AZ.U.R. - 1994 - Melodic Hard Rock Klimax - 1989 - Hair Metal Axtion - Look Out For The Night - 1985 - It's taken a while but this sucker is ready to rock!! Herman Rarebell "now and then". That's right folks , Mr Herman Rarebell of the Scorpions has signed with Retrospect Records and we are bringing to you a CD/DVD set that will include the entire Herman ze German and friends album plus lots of new bonus tracks plus an in-depth interview and rare concert footage of the Scorpions direct from Herman's vault. This one is going to be HUUUUGE. I made a prediction back in August 2005 that Retrospect Records would be the world's largest re-issue label in 1 year. I believe I have managed that within 8 months. Retrospect is releasing and signing more bands than anyone and it's all for the passion for this music....the bands are finally receiving royalty checks that they so rightly earned and some bands are even prompted into reunions and recording new material!! I am honored to receive your support and hope you continue to be part of the Retrospect team by promoting this music to your family and friends and of course , the media. Take care my friends , YOU ROCK!! Sam McCaslin CEO - President Retrospect Records , Inc www.retrospectrecords.com P.S. Be sure to visit the website and check out bands like Mariah , Manila Thrills , NewCity Rockers , Bad Candy , Pleezer and the 100+ titles that are still available.
  9. Absent Element - Uprooted Chris Daughtry's band...not bad for modern rock...not something I'll listen to over and over, but not bad. Mike
  10. It's been a long time since I've gotten one, but I used to get emails from this guy fairly regularly asking if he could buy a bunch of CD-Rs from me. I told him that I didn't sell CD-Rs, that I was only interested in trading CD-Rs of rare and OOP stuff. That was usually followed by a "I'm sorry I don't have time to burn and trade Cd-Rs" email, and he would then offer to pay VERY WELL for whatever CD-Rs I would burn for him. I usually just ignored/deleted once it got to that point. Mike
  11. I went with my boys in Dokken, but Ratt was right there with 'em. 2 phenomenal releases that I played over...and over again. Dio, T.S. , Scorps, Whitesnake, Y&T, Zebra, arghhhhhh...all faves as well! What a year!
  12. 1984...another great f'n year for music!
  13. Wig Wam - Hard to be a Rock n Roller.. Can't get "Out of Time" out of my head....what a great f'n song! Mike
  14. Have seen every episode so far...along with My Name is Earl, and The Loop, the the 3 funniest new shows this season (Four Kings has had some good episodes too). Barney (Neil Patrick Harris) just oozes awesomeness (not sure if you should sue Jay, as he does have Marshall on his side!), and I'm convinced that he and Robyn somehow wind up together. How cute is Allyson Hannigan as Lily? Has Ted met the kids future mother in Victoria, or will unresolved feelings between he and Robyn tear them apart? Or will she hook up with some German hunk while away at cooking school? Yeah, love the show! It is totally steak sauce!
  15. Actually, have picked up quite a few discs recently, but here are two that stand out so far this week: Bulldozer - S/T Mystic Game - Welcome to the Sky
  16. Back at fuckin' work today, and people just won't fucking leave me the fuck alone... fuck fuck fuckity fuck fuck me sideways!
  17. I would be interested in an HH T-shirt for sure! Heavy Harmonies It's not just a website It's a way of life!
  18. The Lindsay Lohan side-boob shot from a different angle....
  19. That would be an awesome freaking pic if she didn't look like Death sucking on a chili dog there!
  20. Jesse Strange - Looking For Some strange Sweet Cheater - Eatin' Ain't Cheatin' Voodoo Moonshine - The Decade of Decay Blazed - Now the Party Starts The Nastys - Good Time Gone Bad
  21. Some random "side-boob" shots from Yahoo: Vida Guerra Ninel Conde Paris Hilton
  22. Been living with Miss Crazy for a week or so now (no, my wife didn't stop taking her meds! ) and I'm really enjoying it. The Cinderella/Britny Fox/Kix comparisons being made are dead on, and this one grows on ya with each listen. Great way to start off 2006 for Metal Mayhem Music, and Miss Crazy! Now...let's check out ol' Jesse Strange which I got in the mail today! Mike
