  1. Approximately one week in and the drive has met 15% of the goal to cover the site's annual out-of-pocket expenses. Thanks to everyone who has contributed so far! -Dan
  2. It's nice. It's decent. It's pleasant. It's safe. It's paint by numbers.
  3. Dude in the thumbnail looks a lot like the lead singer from Cameo, but that was a funk band.
  4. Hrmmm, ok I did some digging, and for whatever reason the forum plugin for donations doesn't support adding notes anymore (I'm 99% sure it did at one point), but the donation buttons on the main site still do, as those are just old-school HTML buttons... different mechanisms I guess. I'll adjust the OP, thanks.
  5. Ya try and ya try, but you KNOW it comes back around eventually... Time again to play the begging game to help out covering Heavy Harmonies' expenses. Costs for the site run roughly US$195 a month, roughly the same as last several years (amazingly there haven't been increases on hosting costs like there have been to everything else). So when I say "costs", what do I mean? It's the out-of-pocket expenses to keep Heavy Harmonies running: server lease, bandwidth, hosting support, and the subscription for this forum software, domain registration. The 2022 drive did pretty good, reaching 84% of goal of covering the annual costs. Let's see if we can meet, or better yet, beat that goal! The donation drive will run through Halloween, October 31. Anyone who makes a single donation of $20 or more and has a board username will be added to the group "2023 Donors". This gets you the following benefits: A nice shiny icon in your profile showing that you are an HH Donor for 2023: An increase in the size of your PM storage from 200 to 500 messages An increase in image attachment/upload storage from 20MB to 50MB Exempt from the search flood control (normally if you try and do a search more than every 10 seconds, you get an annoying little "please wait" message) No time limit on editing your own posts! This will especially be useful for those with trade/sale lists as you'll be able to edit them rather than posting revised versions. A warm fuzzy feeling inside that you are helping support Heavy Harmonies! If you donate $50 during the drive, either as a single donation or across multiple donations, you will be added to the group "2023 Gold Donors". This gets you the following in addition to the above: A bigger, shiny badge: All your posts will be highlighted, because if you show this much dedication to HH, what you have to say is obviously more more important! (just kidding, but your posts will be accentuated). The ability to create a forum "signature" that will be added to all of your posts. If you donate using buttons on the main site, please put your board username in the notes section, and if you donate from here on the forum, please PM me the email address that you sent the donation from! Otherwise I have no way to tie your donation to your membership here on the board. If you are currently in the 2022 donor groups but don't wish to donate this year (or can't), at the beginning of the donation drive, your group membership features will revert to the regular non-donator membership group. Membership in the 2023 Donors group will last until the beginning of next year's donation drive, at which point you can donate again to remain in the Donors group with the same benefits, or revert back to your current member group. PayPal donation buttons are found at the top of all the pages on the main site and here on the forum on the right side at the top, or if you'd prefer to send a money order, check, or cash (not recommended, but I know some people prefer to do so), you can make payable to Dan Harding and send to: Heavy Harmonies P.O. Box 17021 Urbana, IL 61803 USA If you can't give $20, give $10... if you can't give $10, give $5... it's just once a year. (And if you happen to be fortunate enough to be earning gobs of money, please feel free to give bunches! I'm not opposed to having a sugar daddy... or seven.) As always, your support is greatly appreciated! -Dan
  6. These re-recorded albums are missing the boat for me. The current lead vocalist is too much of a metal screamer to do the songs justice IMO.
  7. I'm not a vinyl collector, but this is a cool set IMO although a bit pricey at $260+. Hollywood, CA (August 30, 2023) — W.A.S.P. announce 'The 7 Savage: 1984-1992' deluxe 8LP boxset from their 'Capitol Years', with studio album half-speed mastering, LP of bonus tracks, 60 page book, posters and numbered certificate. The 7 Savage: 1984-1992 will be released Friday 27th October 2023 on Madfish and is strictly limited to 2000 copies worldwide. To order the box set: https://madfish.lnk.to/WASP_The_7_Savage Currently on break from the 40 Years Live World Tour and sounding better than ever, W.A.S.P. is one of the most consistent and reliable forces in rock music - unstoppable and unassailable, like a heavy metal juggernaut sent back in time from along- distant galaxy. Frontman Blackie Lawless is undoubtedly one of rock’s everlasting figures – someone’s whose attitude and vision changed the musical landscape around him, in the process bearing fruit to some of the biggest anthems of their time. W.A.S.P. frontman Blackie Lawless comments, "It’s great to see this collection of records be re-released with this detail. For the original recordings to have a new light shown on them with expanded notes and additional photography is special for me, and will be for all those that hold these albums in a special place in their hearts and times in their lives." Their first five studio albums (W.A.S.P., The Last Command, Inside the Electric Circus, The Headless Children & TheCrimson Idol) contributed enough on their own for W.A.S.P. to be considered one of the greatest rock bands of all-time. Those LPs are all presented in this set, mastered half-speed at Air Studios, London for a superior, sharper, more direct and engaging sound. Packaged within a deluxe red leatherette effect double slipcase, 'The 7 Savage: 1984-1992' is completed on vinyl with two more LPs: 1987’s Live… in the Raw and new compilation Bonus Tracks & B-Sides featuring the controversial breakthrough anthem ‘Animal (F**k Like a Beast)’. Compiled with the full cooperation of Blackie Lawless, the box set also includes a 60-page book with exclusive and rare pictures from legendary metal photographers (including Ross Halfin, Tony Mottram, David Plastik and Paul Natkin), along with extensive liner notes from Amit Sharma (Kerrang!, Planet Rock). Also included is an exclusive Blackie Lawless poster, plus an individually numbered circular saw shaped certificate. DISC 1 - W.A.S.P. (Half-speed MasterA.1. I Wanna Be Somebody [03:44]A.2. L.O.V.E. 8. Welcome! Instrumentally, I like it and it seems well mixed and produced. However (and you're likely to get similiar reactions from others here), it's difficult to get past the gutteral death vocals. It fits the genre, but clean vox tend to be the name of the game here.
  9. Not new, but heard it for the first time in passing today. The vox have timbre that is similar to what we hear in a lot of female-fronted hard rock and heavy metal these days, but set against synthwave... and dat sax yo!
  10. A perfect example of how great something can sound when ADV isn't foisted upon a band... just sayin'...
  11. New tune. A little late for Independence Day, but better late than never.
  12. I know it's not in-genre for HH, but personally I'm enjoying the new Fall Out Boy album. They really haven't skipped a beat in the 7 (?) years since their last album. And personally, I love their videos.
  13. Hollywood, CA (July 21, 2023) — Because of the extensive back injuries suffered by Blackie Lawless during the European leg of the 40th Anniversary Tour, the W.A.S.P. 2023 U.S. Tour will be cancelled until Spring 2024. Tickets and VIP packages can be refunded at the point of purchase. Blackie Lawless discussed his back injury, "The extent of the trauma I endured on the 2023 European Tour was far greater than originally diagnosed and surgery will now be needed to correct the problem. In addition to the original herniated disc, as that tour continued, a 2nd disc became herniated. Upon returning home a 2nd MRI also revealed a broken vertebrae to my lower back. I've been fortunate to work with the best specialists in the U.S. and I've been in intensive rehab since we got home. It's going well but the damage was pretty extensive and all the Dr.'s agree moving the tour a few months back will be the safest thing. It's all been as the result of an injury that happened several years ago. I'm working my butt off to get ready and I'll be up riding on Elvis... bigger and badder than ever. If the Torture Never Stops, then the 40th Never Stops!" About W.A.S.P. Few Bands in the history of Rock N’ Roll have ever incited the love, the hate, the raw emotional effect this Band has had on the world. From the very beginning, in the small venues of Los Angeles California, and later to the numerous countries worldwide that banned these Winged Assassins from performing live, the Band’s unique style of Shock and Rock caused Religious organizations, Local City Councils, Parliaments, and the Washington D.C. Senate to hold hearings in an effort to bar this group from selling records and trashing stages everywhere they played. The band’s founding member, frontman Blackie Lawless, has led the group as its lead vocalist and primary songwriter since its beginning. His unique brand of visual, social and political comment took the group to worldwide heights and sold millions of records alongside a legacy of sold out shows across the globe for 4 decades. Joined by bassist Mike Duda and guitarist Doug Blair, whose tenures in the band span 26 and 18 years respectively, along with drummer extraordinaire Aquiles Priester, will take the Band and the Fans back to where it all started. Complete with the stage show extravaganza that many fans never saw live. Witness Live the Winged Assassins spectacle of “SHOCK and ROLL” as they take you Back…Back to the Beginning!
  14. Musically and stylistically, I love this... but the lead vocalist just ruins it for me.
