  1. and then....there's many of us that have been at this collecting for ages and bought those titles that many of you label as "rarities" back when they came out for $7 to about $12 each. I've got tons of them in my collection. Someone starting out does not have that luxury. If they want that disc that I got for cheap when it was first released, they now have to pay dearly for some of them.....it seems there are more people wanting those titles than there are legit copies available!! Some people buying CDs are just listening to and collecting music......some are serious collectors of CDs......others love the music and collect the CDs (I fall into that catagory). That said, there really are people who collect CDs and who also love the music. Often times to me, it becomes the thrill of the hunt....tracking down a CD for my collection. You see, some people don't quite understand exactly what a collector is.....he has a drive....an addiction so to speak to get out and find certain things for his collection whether it be a baseball card, stamp, coin, bottle, magazine or whatever he collects...... As far as reissues go....I love to grab those reissues with bonus tracks (only legit copies though...Sorry, but, I'm not into collecting bootlegs or counterfeits, maybe that's some other folks' bag, but, not mine - to each his own). And yes....before you start labeling me a hypocrite, I do have some bootlegs in my collection....they do manage to get there, but I am not actively collecting them as some do. I also have traded some obscure titles on CDR with other collectors, but I don't buy CDRs. When I buy from CD Baby and they send me a CDR (even the perfectly legit ones), I pack them up and send them back......I've now gotten into the habit of calling them before I order just to ask if the title is on a CDR or pressed disc. They will check and tell me on the phone. If you like CDRs...that's fine....some people like foreign cars, some don't.....that's why they make them all..... I love the music and I love collecting CDs.....
  2. Well....in my opinion, what you SEE is not WHAT YOU GET!!! The Joker Cool Deal CD is described as a Still Sealed Japanese FEMS label pressing.......what is in the picture is not what is described......(where's the OBI on the sealed CD???) Why would someone grab a photo of just a CD somewhere and throw it up there when they are allegedly selling a sealed Japanese pressing which would be in shrink and an OBI (A premium deal????) Shame, but when I see a brand new seller and a description like this, red flags jump all over telling me to stay clear.......I would prefer to stick with the tried and true sellers Just my 2 or 3 cents worth!!!
  3. Has anyone else noticed the increased volume of new titles being added to the site data base recently? Our friend Tim has been like a busy beaver or a well oiled machine adding to the data base almost on a daily basis. Let me say right now that Whiplash & Espo have done a great job themselves, but Tim is a man on a mission.......... Thanks for the hard work all of you guys!!! It is thankless behind the scenes work that most never notice. oh........I almost forgot.......Pete (Blue Charvel) has been working hard behind the scenes as well......thanks to all of you.
  4. and Paulo....you are absolute correct.....that is a RICOH CDR numbering system.....
  5. Dave....as I said in my post "unsuspecting people" will be duped...... I blew up this picture.......the bar code number reads " 7 4399900950 9 " You see, this bar code is unique......it is on every cassette and LP to CDR transfer I have ever done...... Back in the late 90's I transferred a ton of stuff from vinyl and cassette to CDR for my personal collection. Over the course of time, I've traded a copy here and there and that was a mistake because they have proliferated. This isn't the first time I've seen stuff I've transferred on E Bay. But, back to your question......as I said originally, if you aren't actually aware of what is legitimately available out there, you can be easily duped by this crap!!!
  6. It's gettin' so some of these sellers are putting up anything and everything on E Bay to make a fast buck............. I feel sorry for the poor unsuspecting people who are just getting into collecting and see these things and jump on them thinking they are getting something cool..... http://cgi.ebay.com/Rock-Candy-Sucker-For-...1QQcmdZViewItem The bid for this "CDR" is up to $26 at this writing............. It won't be long and E Bay will be saturated with this stuff and you won't have a clue what you are buying until you actually receive it!!!
  7. Tony....I tried entering that ID Thrash-or-die E Bay said it was an invalid ID.....is that the correct spelling?
  8. I too have a JFJ disc repair machine I bought a few years ago. It does a fantastic job. I've made some real coasters look like brand new discs with this machine and it has been well worth the money I spent to acquire. I bought it directly from the manufacturer in California. You can check out their web page HERE My neighbor just bought a new machine off E Bay that is manufactured by JFJ Disc Repair for $179. This is a smaller machine, but it does do a pretty decent job except for the really nasty scratches. If anyone is thinking about buying a disc repair machine, I would heartily recommend the JFJ machine. Also, for those who spend time searching for used CDs in stores and elsewhere, this is a necessity. I used to pass up literally hundreds of great discs because of the condition. Now, I know that I can refurbish them to be like new so I don't have to pass. You can imagine the how the machine has paid for itself over time.
  9. Every CD I sell in my auctions goes out in a brand new Jewel Case.....When it is received on the other end, it may end up being cracked or broken due to mishandling in the postal system. You can imagine how many pounds of weight is thrown on top of those packages during shipment, so there are some cases that do arrive broken in spite of all the care that the shipper may take. A few years back, I wrote to a top dollar seller and called him down about sending out CDs in worn and used CD cases inspite of the fact that his CDs were selling for some pretty hefty prices. I told him that a seller of his caliber would surely have enough pride in his product to send them out in new jewel cases as this was a direct reflection of the way he does business!! One other thing worth mentioning is the currency rate of exchange between the Euro and USD. Right now, it takes about $1.34 to make one Euro. What this means to US buyers is.....their currency is deflated in comparison to the Euro. So, when you have to pay $8.00 to a shipper in Europe, you think this is very high shipping fees, but, in reality, the underlying cause is the value of the dollar. Think of it in this way. A fellow in some country pays "2 Rocks" for shipping from a seller in his country. Now, he buys a CD from a fellow in the USA and must pay "15 Rocks" for shipping. This is because it takes X number of rocks to equal a US dollar in exchange value. He feels like the shipping is extremely high because his currency isn't worth as much in the USA........
  10. Back to the topic.........rockpirat1973 isn't Thomas Ringseis......this is Chris Baumgartner who actually is a pretty decent CD collecting fellow. Thomas Ringseis is using the ID melodicrockkathi right now.
  11. Dave....just to bring you up to speed...the seller is Tony Malchow over in Germany and he is the one who actually did that reissue on Fahrenheit. His label has been doing a few different reissues, such as the recent Douglas "Mad" resissue. He pressed up too many of them and is having a hard time moving them.......hence, he is overdoing it and just listing so many copies because he is trying to get rid of them..... Instead of just sitting on them and putting out a few here and there, he is just throwing them all over to get rid of them and I guess try to recoup some of his investment.
  12. He recently won one of my auctions with one of his new E Bay IDs that I didn't get blocked in time. One of the new ones he establishes to create a credible positive feedback. It was an item he won for $2.36 and, of course, he promptly paid with PAYPAL that huge sum of money. I promptly refunded his PAYPAL payment and sent him an e mail telling him "I do not transact with suspended users". Of course, he kindly replied with "F--- Y--" "I will spend my income tax refund somewhere else"!!! Thank you James ArWhinin' ...please do that............
  13. I've also heard the old saying...."the squeaky wheel gets the grease" too!!!!!
  14. Wow....let me see if I have this all figured out correctly.....???? Lonnie purchases CDs from NEH and pays with PAYPOOP..'er PAYPAL? Shortly thereafter, Lonnie falls into financial difficulties and has his PAYPAL account frozen due to the fact that a large number of paypal reversals are charged to Lonnie's PAYPAL account...... Is that right so far???? Now, since Lonnie's paypal account is now depleted and there is a negative balance on the account, the master thieves at PAYPAL have chosen to begin reversing payments Lonnie has made to others previously to cover Lonnie's negative account balance??? IS THIS WHAT IS HAPPENING???? If so, this PAYPAL is totally out of control and our United States Congress needs to address regulating that business and put their activities under the US banking act.
  15. Hey Swazi....you should just do what PAYPAL and E Bay allows all the scam and con artists to do all the time......just create yourself a brand new paypal account as though you were someone else and carry on as though nothing ever happened!!!! I don't know why we honest people can't start doing the same thing all the thieves do.........
  16. The music on this CD is breathtaking, brilliant melodic hard rock. Imagine a perfect mix of RATT, TOURIS, CRYCIN with some hints of DOKKEN. It's so killer sounding with it's big production. The band recorded this release in Queensryche's studio using their instruments as well. The musicianship is outstanding with superb vocals, clean guitars and background keys. Top knotch stuff!!!
  17. Better Yet..... wait until he copies your MP3 links, and then replace the links with something like Milli Vanilli or Menudo or something.... OH Yeah.....I like that idea a lot.....!!! You've got your thinking cap going Ty!!!
  18. I don't believe that Don Barnes ever made it to CD........I know it was on a demo Cassette. I transferred it over to a CDR several years ago! If I'm wrong, someone please correct me?
  19. Dave....start putting up more MP3 links in your auctions.....see if he tries to link to your MP3 samples you have posted??? When he does, your auction finishes......take down the link and leave him high and dry. Now that would be awesome!!!!
  20. The actual CD "Road Of The Gypsy" by Adrenalin has never been officially released on CD. However, the band known as Adrenalin is also known as DC Drive. Back a couple of years, they released privately a best of CD of both bands title "Adrenalin" Twenty Five Years 1977-2002. It was the music of Adrenalin And DC Drive on one dic that included 18 tracks. They were the tracks from the self titled DC Drive CD and the Adrenalin "Road Of The Gypsy". Here is some contact information to help you possibly track down a copy from the band. You can write to" Harmonie Park 1407 Randolph Centre Suite 200 Detroit, MI 48226 Phone 313-965-4343 www.adrenalin-dcdrive.com info@hamoniepark.com brian@harmoniepark.com that would be Brian Pastoria of the band All this info is taken off the inserts in the CD, so I don't know if any or all of it is still good today, but, at least it gives you some info to get started to track down a copy. I did check and there is still a web site up with contact information and lots of info on the band.... You can check it here. ADRENALIN & DC DRIVE WEB SITE
  21. HI Del, what I know about these the rampage was a casette only release, cant recall who said this, possibly lonnie...??? flairz may be recieveing a reissue treatment, seems they did a 2nd album aswell. I wonder who actually has all 3 in the collection. Andy I heard the Rampage was actually released on CD.....I believe it was Brian & Brent who told me that, but, I may be wrong. Also, TC told me that Flairz was never actually released, that it was just a track off a compilation or something, but, I don't put too much stock in what he says anymore because he tried to tell me the Surrender CD was never pressed up either (and I had the original all the time). He always told me Richie G downunder had made some copies and that is where it came from......I know that wasn't true either!! Have you ever heard of the Mydra indie from California???? Man, these babies have to be total underground and obscure!!!!
  22. m-m-m-m-m????? Dan did you mention this character before? Maybe someone else on the board has brought him up. I went to my blocked bidder list to enter this ID and I've already got it in there some time ago........
