Listening to Sent By Ravens - "Mean What You Say"......not a bad modern hard rock record. Really dig the last song on the disc, "Best in Me".

That's a good album. Probably falling just shy of 80%, but I do like Jack.....wears his heart on his sleeve. You are right that the ballad is probably the best song, but you cant help but believe him when he sings 'Born For This'. I was totally impressed by this album........tons of great tunes, especially "Hardest Word to Say"...I'd have to give this somewhere in the upper 80's.

The movie is exactly why they did this. That way, when the tunes are used now, and people pay for them, Def Leppard will get the coin and not the original record company.....

Damn fine album, although...and I didn't think I'd ever say this, but Myles' voice kinda got on my nerves a bit when I first listened to this. I love Alter Bridge, etc....but for some reason his voice was a bit irritating. Maybe it was just the mood I was in.....lol

I saw that too, Rick.....how cool that they're doing that! That station has a LOT of rock concerts....and I never knew it until I saw the ad for M3! Haven't watched all of Day 2 yet, but Stryper freaking rawked!!! XYZ was cool too......will try and catch more of it today! I'm sure this will come out on DVD.

This is an excellent disc.....not sure what some were complaining about initially. All of their stuff is just good ol' plain hard rock with a touch of sleaze. Nicely produced record.

I love ya, Mark...but that's why I had to provide a 'different' view, because it would be a shame for people not to get this disc based on an average review. I would recommend this disc to peeps, for sure..... And, yes....we're all old enough to know that every man's opinion is different than the next. I totally agree...and I totally respect your opinion. I wasn't trying to diss you (and I know you know that), but was definitely trying to offer another perspective from someone who has been in this game for a VERY long time. lol

I take a 7/10 rating to be 'average', even slightly below average rating...and I really don't see this as being an average release. I enjoyed the heck out of it, even through the 'filler' songs...which is such a cliche to a reviewer, I think. What is 'filler' anyway?? lol To me, the record retains the hard rock sound that they were best known for, while I would have liked for Loran to hit a few of those trademark upper register notes, it didn't really detract from my listening experience. Maybe some of the 'less exciting' tunes are considered 'filler'...but even those had a nice melody to wrap your ears around. Sometimes I think people get spoiled by all of the releases nowadays and are a bit more 'selective' in what they'll consider they like 'a lot'...but if people would have heard this release even 10 years ago they would be giving rave reviews. I would rate the album slightly higher at an 8 or 8.5 out of 10...definitely worthy of a 'B' rating.
