Monsters of Rock 2016 -- D-A-D confirmed!

I can't believe I have to start this topic....well actually, yes I can since I wasn't impressed with the lineup until this week.

I'll get right to it -- EAST COAST has added D-A-D!!!

:guitar: :taz:

Yes, that underrated thinking man's rock band from Denmark.

If that ain't enough, these guys are also on board:

  1. ARMORED SAINT (have you HEARD "Win Hands Down"???)
  2. KINGDOM COME (original lineup, from what I heard)
  3. SAIGON KICK (original lineup)
  4. Killer Dwarfs
  5. Helix
  6. Dangerous Toys
  7. Doro
  8. Helloween
  9. Metal Church
  10. Y&T
  11. John Corabi
  12. Vinnie Moore
  13. Steve Vai
  14. more.....

Suddenly thinking about shelling out the money for this one. I doubt this American will get another shot at seeing D-A-D, much like seeing SAXON that last time around...

Anyone else thinking about it / got tix?

I'd love to, but I might be traveling Europe next year. Primarily, the Scandinavian countries.

Sweden Rock Festival is easily my all time favorite one. Been there 3 times.

If Electric Boys play next year, I'll try to plan my trip around that.

Killer Dwarfs original line-up would be cool, but why is more not being made of the Kingdom Come original line-up? That's pretty huge, yes?

As I listen to my collection I am reading up on every band with a decent discography as I go along and I was reading up on Kingdom Come just a couple of weeks ago. It seemed this reunion has been on the cards for a long time. Apparently it was all but certain a few years back but Klaus didn't want Kottack playing for anyone outside of Scorpions, so young James withdrew but gave the green light for the rest of the guys to go ahead. Obviously it didn't pan out but it still seemed like something that was possible.

They had a good thing going on those first two albums. Would love to hear an album come out of the reunion.

Ahhh... if you are correct on Kingdom Come that would explain the lack of hype. I had read a blurb but it sounds like you have done more research, and I do recall that thing regarding Scorpions. Agreed the first two albums are essential and by far my favorite releases from the band.

If they add Electric Boys, it's 100% certain I will go. I am trying to go anyway for the D-A-D, Saigon Kick, Armored Saint and Kingdom Come.

Wish they would get Zodiac Mindwarp on there, too.

I was referring to Sweden Rock Fest. I doubt MOR Cruise will ever book 'em.

    • As best I can tell, it’s Acousticyzed re-issued with new artwork, and in all the various formats mentioned. This is exactly why I didn’t worry about picking it up earlier this year, as I figured MS would whip out the holy schlong and try to get the hardcore fans to shell out for a second version.
    • Mirror to the Sky - Yes
    • Not really something that fully appeals to me, but I certainly don't see it as dogshit. If it came on the radio (not that I listen to radio) I certainly would not turn it off or skip it on a playlist.
    • Yeah, this whole thread offends me.
    • I'm liking that first track as well
    • Interesting song choice as far as covering Journey, but they likely wanted to go with a lesser known track.   I'm not a fan of the vocal effects nor the guitar tone.  It's a skip for me, but not as bad as I was expecting after reading the prior comments.
    • The nice voice will change for future records, according to Graywolf's Facebook page:
    • Mirror Mirror-Dokken
    • Ehh? Is this the same content retitled, or a completely different set of live material?... there's so much wrong with this announcement: This album was previously released as a very-limited CD/DVD.  It sold out instantly.  So we went back in and did a Dolby Atmos remaster/remix of the album, and all new artwork. But CD and DVD don't support Dolby Atmos. That's not a thing. Blu-Ray yes, but not CD or DVD. ALSO - Not only will this be available on streaming platforms but we will soon be announcing the release of Vinyl, CD/DVD, and Cassette.  Yes, you read that right.  Cassette.  Oh - let's talk about the video - the BluRay video has been upgraded to 4K for this release "Upgraded to 4k"... whut? Unless it was reshot using 4K cameras (or was originally shot in 4K but simply authored to blu-ray in SDR) and is completely reauthored to support HDR, a 4K UHD release may not actually be an improvement. Boomers saying boomer things...
    • From the Michael Sweet FB page: You asked for it!  And we listened!  To Hell with the Amps, our acoustic album, is being released worldwide on May 10 to streaming services everywhere.   This album was previously released as a very-limited CD/DVD.  It sold out instantly.  So we went back in and did a Dolby Atmos remaster/remix of the album, and all new artwork.   ALSO - Not only will this be available on streaming platforms but we will soon be announcing the release of Vinyl, CD/DVD, and Cassette.  Yes, you read that right.  Cassette.  Oh - let's talk about the video - the BluRay video has been upgraded to 4K for this release.   There are so many exciting things to come with this release.  Stay tuned here and at Stryper.com We are looking forward to taking this acoustic album on the road starting May 30.
