From Good Time Music:

Good Time Music is happy to announce the first official signing to the label’s roster….please welcome;

Like a phoenix rising CAUGHT IN ACTION ascends from the ashes of the old.

The world as we knew it was locked down due to the pandemic, but this musician and songwriter from the south of Sweden knocked boredom on the head.

Richard Jonsson, who honed his craft as a guitarist and back up-singer with numerous Top 40-bands over more than thirty years, got tons of time on his hand when the pandemic cancelled all the gigs.

”After thinking about it for so long, I finally built my dream home studio and started writing songs”, Richard says.

Building on his love of AOR and melodic rock, in the vein of Whitesnake, Def Leppard, Kiss, Magnum, Boston and Survivor to name but a few, Richard dived in to a deep well of melodies, hooks, and choruses, and soon he had the songs.

”Then it hit me: I needed an extraordinary singer. Someone with the pipes from heaven. The search was on.”

Turned out he was just around the corner. Well, not in person, but online: Richard saw a clip of the Portuguese AOR band Hot Stuff, and listening to the lead singer, Richard called of the search.

Enter: Marcello Vieira, singer with the voice of an angel. Because a man with a voice spanning over six octaves is heaven sent.

Impressed with Richard’s songs, Marcello said yes, laid down vocals, and recruited friend, and fellow Portuguese, Ricardo Dikk, as producer. When Richard heard Ricardo´s bass on one of the tracks, he decided to scrap his own bass playing on the rest of the songs in favour of Ricardo.

Producer Ricardo Dikk brought in seasoned studio musicians and brothers Mauro and Ménito Ramos, and soon Richard, back home in his native Trelleborg in the very south of Sweden, found himself with enough songs for a killer album.

Caught In Action was ready for…oh, yeah, action.

The album ”Devil’s Tango”, released on Steelheart Records in April of 2022, is a masterpiece in the world of AOR and melodic rock: contagious melodies and harmonies, hooks taking stranglehold, choruses to die for, crunchy, delicious guitars, solid musicianship and…that voice.

Yeah, that Marcello Vieira, who’s up there with the likes of Steve Perry, Marcie Free, Jimi Jamison and Steve Overland of FM. A world class singer.

With great reviews from all over the world, this phoenix got wind in its wings; it ascended from just a studio project to a real band.

Richard Jonsson recruited longtime friend and excellent drummer Mats Elofsson. Soon after Jens Mattsson, great bass player and song writer, was added to the line-up. With Jens, Mats and Marcello together with Richard, Caught in Action now a complete band to be reckoned with.

Building on the success of “Devil’s Tango”, Caught In Action is currently writing songs for their sophomore album, to be released in 2024, as well as booking gigs.

”It’s been a long time coming, but here I am. I found what I’ve been looking for”, says Richard with stars in his eyes and the widest of smiles. – Stefan Johansson, Rock journalist, Swedish Metal Aid initiator.

Strange. Why not just continue Lion's Pride label? Same guy...

I think I read somewhere that he'll be quitting Lions Pride Music by the end of the year. Or at least stepping down as CEO and giving more control to his business partner.

He's the only one I've ever associated or heard of running LNP. I guess time will tell! Matti is certainly a very fine signing indeed.

    • Never understood why Binary Music wasn't that popular (at least that was what I perceived). It's by far my favourite Palace album. Every songs have killer melodies and a good production.
    • I have bought a few that are decent, but the two that have impressed me most are Mick Mars and Judas Priest.
    • King Zebra , Gotus  , Saxon for me so far and the new Alicate disc is pretty decent. As you've said there are a few still to come(Black Diamonds,Nestor,Remedy,Seb Bach,Kissin Dynamite to name a few I'm waiting for) and another 3/4 of the year to go
    • Have enjoyed all his output apart from Binary Music...so i'll give this a goo too  hoping for something in the vein of the debut mixed with a little R'n'R radio.
    • Solid song there. 3 for 3 so far. I hope there will be an album out soon. C.H.
    • I am looking forward to this, I was wondering just a few days ago if Palace was working on anything recently. The album art looks like it was done by the same guy that did the art for the Platinum Overdose albums. C.H.
    • So supposedly out but can't find it. Anybody listened to it?
    • New album to be released July 12th. Press release: PRESENTING ’Reckless Heart,’ the brainchild of Lithuanian-born Swedish artist Michael Palace and the fifth spellbinding chapter in the PALACE saga. This explosive musical journey resurrects the essence of the 1980s, each track pulsating with the potential to score a classic action blockbuster or drive the adrenaline of a training montage. Inspired by genre-defining icons such as AVIATOR, FM and DARE alongside contemporaries CHEZ KANE and CRAZY LIXX, Michael Palace meticulously rebuilt the PALACE sound from the ground up, returning to the true origins and inspiration of the project. ’Reckless Heart’ is an essential cornerstone in any AOR and melodic rock aficionado’s collection. “It was time to go back to the roots, as they say, and finally make that true ’80s AOR album that I’ve dreamt of creating since I started PALACE. It’s the missing link between 1985 and 2024,” said Michael. Michael Palace embarked on his journey with Frontiers as a songwriter and guitarist for various projects such as FIRST SIGNAL, CRY OF DAWN, TOBY HITCHCOCK and KRYPTONITE. These successful collaborations paved the way for a deal with Frontiers, enabling Michael to deliver songs aligned with his vision under the name PALACE. ’Reckless Heart’ marks the fifth release, maintaining a bi-annual album release schedule since 2016. Recently, Michael has produced albums for KENT HILLI and NEVENA and done work across diverse genres while taking on various roles such as a songwriter, musician, producer, and engineer. Tracks: 1. Reckless Heart 2. The Widow’s Web 3. Back In Your Arms 4. Girl Is An Angel 5. You Give Me A Reason To Live 6. Back To ’85 7. For The Love 8. Turn This Car Around 9. Weightless 10. Move Me 11. Stronger By The Day
