My life is plagued
By mistakes, broken love, slaps in the face.
But I'm trying to care, to dare to embrace your face.

Hug him like a brother.
Kiss her like a sister.
Let it be my mother for now.

I want to find where the maid in the street
Is pouring her wine.
I heard she takes you in and gives you the words
You need said.

If you'll be her brother,
She'll kiss you like a sister.
She'll even be your mother for now.

Hug him like a brother.
Kiss her like a sister.
Let it be my mother.
Let it be my father.
I will be her brother.
Kiss her like a sister.
Come and be my mother forever.

These lyrics- can anyone please explain them? I'm not sure who or what they're about and they seem rather, strange. Not quite blasphemous- I don't know who/what it's about so I can't say that, but, anyone know?

I have no idea what the song is about (nor do I know what the song is) but as I was intrigued when I read it I found this;

Doesn't really make it any clearer.

That isn't even the same song- sorry buddy. This is just a song by the 90s Christian rock band Sixpence None The Richer. I was just confused at who the 'she's and 'him's and 'it's were about. Plus they're just weird lyrics.

Oh lol. It was the right song at some point but changed between pages without me even noticing, lol.

Were they really considered a "rock" band? I didn't know they were christian freaks either. Didn't they do the theme song to Dawson's Creek or something? Not that you'd have any idea what that (awesome) show was. ;)

Pop-rock I guess if that's what you wanna call it but more rock than pop I think. Yeah they're Christian but they sure aren't freaks cause I wouldn't've even known that had it not been on CCR.Net.

The song is about the church. Being a family to all. Comforting people, being the mother they need. The other believers are sisters and brothers, etc.

I know it's years late but just in case you never discovered the meaning on your own.

Thanks! I had forgotten about it for awhile, but good to find the meaning!
