Yep, my brother recorded a song in his apartment which sounds fine. He's recording all instruments himself in a literal cardboard box with foam in it. I agree 100% - no excuse in 2017 for a poorly produced album. No excuse at all. 

Anyway, on the subject of this album - I absolutely love it.
