Not bad. His voice can get a little annoying at times. But they sound like the kind of band, if they were opening for someone I wanted to see, I'd get there early enough to listen to these guys.

From pirate-smile.de:

On July 27th, 2015 Tracer will release their new album WATER FOR DOGS THIRSTY about OMN Label Services – her third album already and at the same time highlight and expression of ten years of hard work, merciless conviction and an intuitive rock’n'roll consciousness that Tracer will drive only to further heights. It is the third Tracer album and the first to feature new bassist Jett Heysen-Hicks alongside frontman/guitarist Michael Brown and drummer Dre Wise. The record crackles and thrums with excitement and a rejuvenated sense of purpose; the sound of a great band becoming greater… rewired and reborn!

Recorded at Echo Bar Studios in North Hollywood, LA and produced by the band themselves, in collaboration with master engineer and mixing maestro Erik Reichers, this is not just the finest record Tracer have ever made: it’s a bar-raising monument to the passion and belief that continues to drive this band forward.

From the spine-tingling dynamics and rumbling grooves of its opening title track – think Nirvana reimagined by Kyuss at the eye of a psychedelic sandstorm – the driving garage rock of We’re Only Animals through to the downbeat drawl and Seattle-tinged menace of Lazy, the turbocharged, bowel-rattling stoner surge of Astronaut/Juggernaut (Michael; “We were really trying to blow up speakers with bottom end with this one!”) and the devastating emotional suckerpunch of Tremors, the album’s stunning climax,WATER FOR THIRSTY DOGS is a thrilling amalgam of rock music’s past, present and future.

Both Jett and Dre are on blistering form throughout these ten new songs, locking into unstoppable grooves with preternatural efficacy while underpinning those unmistakable Tracer riffs with robust flair and insouciant cool. And above it all, Michael Brown’s towering voice delivers the final piece of the sonic jigsaw. “It was incredible,” says Michael, of hearing the completed new album for the first time .

“It was the sound we had always had in our head for the band. The drums were loud and live, the guitars were aggressive and angry, the bass held down the low end like an elephant and I had never been happier with my voice. The songs took you on a journey, they built to climaxes, they made me cry, they made me want to pour beer on myself and party! Tremors, a love song I had written, gave me goosebumps. A feeling I had only ever felt when listening to Pink Floyds ‘The Great Gig In The Sky’. It was epic and is now the crowning achievement of Tracer’s career to date.”

The band, formed in Adelaide, South Australia have released two previous albums – 2011’s debut SPACES IN BETWEEN and 2013’s EL PISTOLERO (Produced in collaboration with esteemed producer Kevin Shirley (Iron Maiden / Led Zeppelin / Silverchair / Joe Bonamassa) – both celebrated by fans and media alike.

Hate the album title and it's a bit grungy sounding for my liking. Yeah, sorry dudes, not a fan at all. Very grungy sounding and not what I dig at all.

Surprised this'd be your kind of thing, Lindsay.

Generally not, but I stumbled upon them live once (opening up for some other bands, with about 4 people watching) and they were fantastic, so have kept an ear open for them ever since.

They are one of those bands that are far more impressive as a live act, than studio.

    • I wonder what control they have over the releases? That have promoted the BMG individual releases. The 2009 reissues were by original label, EMI. And this boxset seems weird being issued by Cherry Red. And I have not seen the bands social media promote it at all. I wonder if the reason the BMG ones were lacking in the bonus tracks from the previous reissue was EMI holding onto the rights, but have now allowed Cherry Red to release them. I know EMI used to be the distributer for Cherry Red, so they may be more forthcoming with the material.
    • Yep, cracking indie release of which there are so many but this one is actually really good.
    • I have been a Band Maid fan since their early days (2015) as I really don't mind foreign vocals as long as the music is great, but I always kinda avoided Babymetal as I saw a video of them once and really wasn't impressed with the kiddy vocals, so never gave them another chance. Fast forward to now and on the back of the collab with Electric Callboy I have decided to give them a go. I thought they had a huge discography as they have like 25 albums, but on closer inspection it is only four studio albums and 21 live albums. As I am not a fan of live albums anyway, I decided to buy the four studio albums as they are all quite cheap. Have to say there music is a mixed bag, but overall really enjoying a lot of it. Not sure if I just picked the wrong song to start with, or if it is just that I have adapted more due to getting into a lot of weird and wonderful foreign bands over the last few years, but I am glad I finally gave them a proper go. Have to say, if this song was sung in English I think they would have a lot of fans on here
