FIREFEST 2011 - TICKET AND VENUE ANNOUNCEMENT:

Press Release / "Hi Guys and Gals, First of all, on behalf of EVERYONE involved in Firefest, let me thank you for your continued support. It's truly amazing the interest and belief you show in us each year. The amount of e-mails and messages we receive from people continue to prove to us that there is still a huge demand for Firefest and the melodic hard rock genre that we proudly represent.

Firefest 2011 will be a three day event. Friday night will take place at Trent University, Nottingham whilst Saturday and Sunday will take place at Rock City, Nottingham.

We are currently putting the finishing touches to the background work that needs to be completed, updating the web site, checking and rechecking hotels, flights, venues, designing artwork, posters etc. etc., which we will have completed by the latter end of this week. The full announcement will take place on the Steve Price Show on ARFM (www.arfm.co.uk) on Sunday January 30th between 6pm and 9pm GMT. If you are listening in from Europe that is 7pm CET. Listeners in the USA can check here (www.worldtimezone.com) for your local time that corresponds to 6pm GMT.

We're not going to give the game away just yet, but we will tell you we have 17 bands over 3 days, 13 of which will be making their first appearance at Firefest. One or two surprises, which for some reason has become the norm, and one or two nailed on favourites making a most welcome return.

What we would ask of you is that you continue to show us your support by purchasing tickets EARLY directly from Firefest as it helps us enormously to deal with the HUGE costs involved in staging the show every year. We will be offering an early bird incentive to save those that purchase tickets early a nice discount on Saturday and Sunday tickets in return for your immediate support.

As usual, we are devoid of any major commercial sponsors (what's new ??) and apart from a few dedicated and superbly generous individuals, once again we have to paddle our own canoe with regard to the £100,000 cost of staging this event. If you're in a position to bring any type of sponsorship or finance to the table please do not hesitate to contact any member of the team and we will be pleased to discuss any suggestions that you may have.

So, there you have it folks, all will be revealed on Sunday January 30, and I know I'm not the only member of the team that is excited by the prospect of seeing the show, in fact everybody involved has deemed this line up to be right up there with the best.

We look forward to seeing you all in Nottingham once again for Firefest, and please do feel free to contact us through the website or Facebook with any comments or suggestions you feel are relevant.

WebLinks: www.thefirefest.com or www.facebook.com (Firefest Official)

Finally, to those of you who will be partying their way through the Steve Price show next Sunday night (Hi Alice, Dean Buckley and the rest of the Welsh gang!!) we hope you will raise a glass with us at the end of the announcement in approval of the prospect of another fine weekend of melodic hard rock!"

Cheers...Kieran, Bruce and the gang."

************************************************

No announcement of date yet, but I assume it will be last weekend in Oct as per usual.

Cheers

By the way, I wonder if Mr Fry will be making it across the pond??

Either way, we in the FarCry camp are blown away by the support we've received from our UK friends! I like to think even if we don't make the cut, at least we made an impression! But maybe that's wishful thinking on my part... ;)

I really want to see BROTHER FIRETRIBE and BAD HABIT there, plus maybe H.E.A.T. A bit of a Scandi line-up would be awesome.

3 days of Firefest, wow ! :) I really think based on the rumours on who's playing, it's the best Firefest line up ever.

what rumours are they? No one really knows except the FF crew???? its all guess work otherwise.

I'm so skint this year that I hope there are lots of bands that most other HH-ers love and I don't, e.g. Treat, FM, Poodles, etc. That way it keeps you other fellas happy and I won't be too gutted to miss out.

Oh God, not FM again..........pleeeeease. I like FM and their first 2 albums are rightly deemed to be classic AOR albums, but last time they played I almost fell asleep, it was soooo safe.

I could take or leave the Poodles live as well.

Here's what I'd quite like to see -

Ted Poley (solo set)

Terry Brock (solo set)

Pride of Lions

Work Of Art

Treat (playing the whole of 'Coup De Grace')

Brother Firetribe

Vega

White Widdow

Jimi Jamison (headlining this time)

Allen / Lande

HEAT (actually I wouldnt mind seeing them again!)

Farcry

Silent Rage (playing the whole of 'Dont Touch Me There')

Bad Habit

First Signal (with Hess)

Marcello/Vestry

Ratt

Unruly Child

Joe Lynn Turner (solo)

OK that's actually 19 (not 17)......but some of those and i'd be a happy bunny!

Cheers

I hope you do too, that would be very cool. Have you played the UK before? Reckon you might try to get a support slot and do a bit of touring while you were here if you got on the bill?

Hey, might as well do a tour of Europe while you're at it! I've heard that Tiziana Arrigoni is a good tour manager... ;)

Well... if we do get on the bill (and that's a big IF of course! ), my understanding is that you cannot book other dates in Europe around The Firefest. That's Kieran's rule and in many ways it makes sense as he tries to put together a show featuring bands that you just won't be able to see otherwise. :)

Pete, surely youd know by now if you were on the bill - would nt they have needed your confirmation?

Here's hoping eh....I'd love to see your band.

Any news on a release date yet for the new album??

That's true... unless they talked to the label... I guess that doesn't bode too well then does it... :anon:

Release date for the album is as yet undefined, but we are so almost there it's not funny. I just don't want to give another date out and have it be wrong... again... ;)

    • It's like how I apologise to the mechanics every time my car breaks down.
    • I reckon it's worth asking the question.
    • I come in genuine curiosity, but this hospital argument... I'd like clarification. So originally we couldn't do anything because covid was going to kill everyone on earth. Then there was a vaccine and we couldn't do anything until we all got vaccinated. Now we're all vaccinated and the sole reason left that we're still living piece of shit lives is because we don't want to overload the hospitals? Is this the correct read on it? So, if this is true, we've resigned to the truth that is this is how the rest of our lives look? Masks, QR codes, crowd capacities, covid tests if we want to travel interstate, let alone international travel - then we need 87 tests and quarantine every time a new variant pops up, which will be fortnightly, or at the latest, monthly. This is it now, is it? Because if it's not, how does the end of it look? When will it be okay to live again without fear of clogging up the hospitals?  I can only speak for Australia on this part of it, but all we've ever heard about is stopping the strain on the hospitals, but has anyone ever seen it? Would anyone even consider overloaded hospitals as an issue if the media hadn't told us it was an issue? I ask as anyone I know who works in healthcare, and to an extent, even myself, as a medical courier who has worked every single day of the last two years... no one I know, or I, have ever seen any single even remote sign of all this strain on our health system. So, like the rest of this pandemic, is it just another media beat up? All they've done for two years straight is belt fear into us, so is it unreasonable to think this is just another branch from that tree? I'm just sick of daily excuses why our lives are still fucking horrible. Anytime the mere suggestion of return to a "normal" life gets brought up, there's a whole list of media-inspired reasons why we have to continue living in misery.  Anyway, I think that was about it. I'm just in eternal wonder about why we all had to get vaccinated when it hasn't actually changed anything about how covid is viewed and feared. Covid is viewed exactly as it was two years ago. It still governs every aspect of how we live, so all these promises about getting vaccinated so we could go back to a normal life were obviously all bullshit.  I was thinking about Australia's trajectory this morning. So if we keep up this pathetic excuse for an existence - the daily covid rate is around 1300 daily cases - let's call it 1500 daily cases if and when the other states open up. So if we continue on this trajectory, living in paralysed fear of the virus, acting like every case of covid is terminal cancer, we should get past this covid thing in about 15,333 days. So around 42 years. That, of course doesn't allow for population growth, but let's assume the cases go up with population growth proportionately.  So that's the outlook in Australia. In 42 years, we might finally move on from covid, based on our current trajectory? What a future to look forward to! Oh, actually, that doesn't include cases prior to today, so maybe we can get out of this thing in closer to 41 years? Life just got a whole lot brighter right then.
    • Really nice album cover indeed...but ten for me this last while...yawn...as Jez pointed out they all sound the same,i'd have difficulty picking which track came from which album tbh
    • Yeah it starts off very good then tails off round midway...but the defs have potential and judging by the new tunes could fulfil it...fingers crossed
    • And mine still hasn't been sent...quality service right there  too late to get a refund? lol
    • Yeah Badd Boyz is very good, would be my fav of the three...I really like the Platinum Overdose albums but I know where you're coming from,I also prefer their more melodic/glammy/sleazy side to the metal type stuff
    • Here's what it was for me, I mostly voted on familiarity: 1. I'll be honest, I didn't know who either of these singers were.  Of the two I've only heard music from Harem Scarem so it was Hess for me 2. I like Coverdale's voice more than Tyler's 3. I voted Michaels since I've only heard a handful of Enuff Z'nuff songs and I listen to a lot of Poison.  With such a limited sample size this might change when I hear more Z'nuff but for right now it has to be Michaels 4. Haven't heard a lot of Mason so I voted Jani.  As far as I'm concerned Jani is the full package when it comes to singer-songwriters, he's an absolute Legend 5. Of all of these I feel like this is the least fair comparison, they don't sound even remotely alike to me.  While Pearcy isn't a phenomenal vocalist in the traditional sense, he's so much more distinct in my opinion.  I think Phil's voice could get lost in the shuffle, but when Pearcy sings you KNOW it's Pearcy which is arguably more important in some cases 6. Haven't heard Queensryche with La Torre, so Tate it is 7. Bon Jovi is my favorite band of all time, come at me 8. Same with Tate, I've only heard Great White with Russell so Russ it is 9. I like both versions of Danger Danger for different reasons, but I have to go with Poley for this one 10. Haven't heard anything from Heart I don't think, so Elliot all the way 11. Haven't heard much of Cold Sweat or Cathey, but I do love that first Lynch Mob album. Point Logan! 12. Once again had to look these guys up, but this time I've actually heard one full album from each.  I assumed Bulen was Keeling, but that aside this was probably the closest one for me.  Ended up going for Baton Rouge but if you asked me in a few weeks that might change We should do this again sometime, maybe with guitarists/drummers/bassists/etc?
