Jason Bourne - this was disappointing. Far from all the others in script and acting. Just a money spin that seems to have worked. Couple of big car chase scenes - ok, the second one had is very cool moments, but both went far too long. A few fight scenes when guns had been knocked from hands. Most of the time I sat there picking holes in the plot, which just didn't gel well.

Jack Russell's Great White signs with Frontiers
CureTheSane replied to AlphaMale's topic in AOR and Hard Rock
Interesting, for me it would be the S/T and Shot In The Dark and some of Once Bitten. I find it interesting that every release or at least it seems has a cover song on it. And why not, they do great covers. I actually heard Once Bitten Twice Shy on the radio yesterday. The Ian Hunter one. And it pretty much sucked compared to GW's cover. Easy when it's an older weaker song I guess. They had a great relationship with The Angels in covering songs. -
Interestingly enough the rest of the disc is far more uptempo. I remember when More Than Words was released. Went out and bought the album on the strength of the song and was in the 10% of people who did who were happy they did. I, like most of Australia, had never heard of Extreme before so it was a bit of a risk that didn't pay off for the 40+ ages females who were wetting themselves listening to the track. The track posted here I thought was pretty decent.

Saw Tesla live once, and wouldn't bother again. A band who is better left to the studio for me. Also they didn't play half the songs I wanted to hear (a personal thing I know) but Jeff's voice is way more abrasive live, which ain't a good thing...

Yeah, although I like the description "sleazy tattooed angry hard rock", I'd probably describe it more as "yelling rock" Not for me I'm afraid

Not very often you actually see a bass being played in a clip. Lucky to even see the bass player most of the time

VOJ's cover of Fuck You was about the only good thing they ever did IMO, could never really get into them and saw them as a Metal Sludge slaves First song here was ok. Second one - big meh Third song - boring - been done over and over. This would likely be the 13th song on most 80's albums. Forth song - can't do the vocals. Sounds like he is actually trying to sound stupid. Last song - after a few listens this one might catch on with me, it's ok. Overall, I don't have much affinity for them, but they're not terrible. Guess I'm getting more picky with who I invest my time with

Jack Russell's Great White signs with Frontiers

I thought Rising was average but Elation was great. Really looking forward to new music from Great White, no matter who the singer is. Also look forward to JR music, but not as much. Great White turned out to be one of my favorite bands. I realised this when I had to choose which songs to lump together for my own mix and found that there weren't many that I could omit from Hooked onwards -
Where's that song from? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qnhr_HKQjVs

Um, yeah, I guess Can I move it? Luckily I woke up with Nelson's Nobody Wins In The Nd in my head, although I guess technically that's hard rock not heavy metal...
-
But how can it be the best then? Love me some chainsaw solos...

Yesterday I listened to a best of Warrant mix I made up, and woke up this morning with "In The End (There's Nothing) stuck in my head. Of all the songs in the compilation, this was probably lucky to make it on - weird one to seep in to my brain...

Takes me a commitment to listen to new music for bands like Jackyl Same with Saliva and Buckcherry. Even Guns N Roses, not that they qualify as a band with new music. Unique vocals means I have to commit to the album and saturate my brain in it until I dig it.

The second of the first two songs posted was pretty decent, but not interesting enough to look into more
-
Not bad. I have no idea why they don't fake sing into a microphone to go alone with the fake instrument playing in film clips. Just looks stupid.

I like "The Path" above as well. Good stuff

Have never heard of this band before, but I bookmarked a song a whileback and just got around to listening to it again. I like it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UpBlT0O_MmE

haha, I even have 2 comments in that thread... In my defense, it was a couple of months ago. Over the years I have killed off many memory brain cells

Horror Movie Cover (Skyhooks covered by Envenomed)
CureTheSane replied to CureTheSane's topic in AOR and Hard Rock
Yeah, it's a fun clip. Great song, great band. Back when I was a kid, Skyhooks were my favorite band, then I moved on to Kiss and Maiden. Freaked out a bit when Maiden did Women In Uniform... That one was from left field. -
Over here, the first I heard of Warrant was Cherry Pie pretty much. No Heaven etc. Then they decided to tour Australia, so I went out and bought DRFSR and binge listened. Went to the concert with a bunch of friends who didn't do this and I got twice as much out of the concert

Nice little cameo towards the end. Pretty decent job, this is how you do covers. Same, same, but different https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0e-8rnauaEc
