  1. Watched the video and it blew... my... mind!! Those moves are out of this world, happy for you and your son
  2. I have MASSIVE respect for Michael Thompson and everything he's done and accomplished. Having said that, not a fan of the new incarnation of MTB at all! I already tried liking Future Past but it was so bad and the new album will be no different.
  3. Shot of Life is a great song, love the anticipation that builds throughout the beginning, the riffs, chorus and the overall energy. But WHY ON EARTH did they record an Egyptian / Oriental sounding guitar solo? I absolutely hate those and in this case it tarnishes an otherwise amazing song and destroys the momentum it had built up to that point Has anyone heard the Japanese bonus track?
  4. Great effort from the guys, especially liking the vocals / vocal arrangements and backing vocals throughout the album. I also appreciate that the lyrical themes have changed a bit, while still positive (Hope for example) I feel they're not as corny as they were on the first record. Great rocking moments but the band also really shines during quieter moments in the 3 ballads (Reincarnation features a heavier part as well), the verses for example combine beautiful vocal melodies with huge and open sounding instruments thanks to the good production, top notch! Can't wait to finish work today and get in the car so I can continue listening to this album
  5. Dude that's what he told me as well, but I'm just nice to everyone and try to treat everyone with respect. He must have mistaken it for something else. Anyway.... hope it doesn't get too weird at work in the future
  6. Found out a guy at work is gay - not that there's anything wrong with that (to quote Seinfeld ). Most of us already assumed he was but now I know for sure cause he tried hitting on me. I told him (very politely) I don't roll that way now he's all butt-hurt (no pun intended) and I still have to work with him, WTF??
  7. Definitely an album I will have to check out. Listened to some of the samples on Amazon and the singer reminds me of Tommy Ende (formerly of Nasty Habit now Major Crush) at times
  8. 5 songs in and really liking it, already can tell this one's much better than the debut. And how good is "Gotta Be Real"? Haven't heard something so authentically early 90s sounding in a long time
  9. Man you're really getting my hopes up with your comments, cause that's EXACTLY what I'm expecting from this album after having heard the first few singles. Just 2 more hours till I get to hear it
  10. Looking forward to this one when I get home tonight, hope it's good!
  11. Half Baked Thinking about watching Scent of a Woman, has anyone seen it and would you recommend it? It's considered a ''classic'' but you can't always trust these things
  12. The Shape of Water - entertaining and aesthetically pleasing, but not a movie I'd watch again
  13. What a disappointment last Friday, the band was good as always but it didn't translate at all because of the bad mix. Not sure if they passed a new law in Switzerland recently as Airbourne in November was also QUIET which sucked! If you don't even feel the drums and it sounds as if you're watching a DVD on a big screen then what's the point of going to a rock show? That's how bad the sound was. Again, not the band's fault but I still have some criticism: they opened with ''Eyes of a Panther'' which I really don't care for, never have. Also I was wondering before what song they would open the show with, for example other bands such as Santa Cruz each time they release a new record they have a new opener which fits perfectly. With the debut it was ''Relentless Renegades'', then on the tour for the self titled album they opened with ''Bonafide Heroes'' and currently the opener is ''Young Blood Rising''. But I feel Steel Panther never topped ''Supersonic Sex Machine'' which I wished they had played as the opener, the two most recent albums don't feature any opener material in my opinion. Maybe ''Pussywhipped'' but that's it, so yeah... disappointed they went with ''Eyes of a Panther''
  14. Three Billboards Outisde Ebbing, Missouri - very good, watched this with a male and a female friend, both of them cried at least once during the film
  15. Been following these guys for almost 15 years now, they released their most recent album a month ago. It's not groundbreaking or anything, but I do like some of the songs on it. However, this thread is not dedicated to that last album but more of an appreciation thread in general. BRMC started out as one of the ''alternative'' / garage rock / noise / shoe gaze bands in the early 2000s and have released 7 studio albums since then (not counting The Effects of 333). I also enjoyed their foray into acoustic / folk / americana territory with 2005's ''Howl''. Anyway, here are a few songs that I hope some of you might like
  16. Second one is better I agree, only a bit disappointed by the solo
  17. I only know JK Northrup from his album he did with Paul Shortino, can't listen right now but looking forward to hearing the song hope the new album will be good.
  18. Taking back my comment, listened to bits of ''Harder To Breathe'' on my phone back in October and didn't like it but after a proper listen I must say I like it. Heavy, melodic and with a bit of pop appeal, officially looking forward to the new album! The other two songs are good as well, seems like the band has progressed quite nicely
  19. While I don't love the band, I really liked some of the songs on their EP and debut album and thought the band had a lot of potential. ''Harder To Breathe'' was a bit of a disappointment cause it mostly showcased elements I didn't like about the band, I will still check out the new song and see how I feel about it as well as the whole album when it's out The ''socially aware'' and idealistic lyrics were also bit of a put-off to be honest
  20. Ace Ventura 1 & 2, not as funny as I remembered. Used to love the first one back when I was 7 or 8, and hadn't actually seen the second one in its entirety before
  21. Blatant ripoff is a bit strong. It has some elements that are similar but not sure I would've noticed them if you hadn't pointed it out. I can see where you're coming from but I feel there's too many parts that sound different to qualify this as a ripoff or copy
