  1. I like how they call the album The World's Best Hope, but then the second song is "Cyanide." Gave up hope pretty quick.
  2. I'm a hopeless romantic. A stuttering poet. Just call me a tragic comic. Songs like Whitesnake's "All I Want All I Need," and First Signal's "When November Falls" always get me. These lyrics, matched with David Coverdale's weathered voice, just slay me: "I remember the days when we were young I held your hand like a precious stone It's still the same nothing's changed Baby, I'll never ever leave you alone When I look in your eyes I realize All the love that I feel is true And everything that we've been through Baby, it's worth it just to be with you"
  3. Anybody catch their performance last year? How was it?
  4. Chad Brown not fronting them has already skewed my excitement. And if they don't have a sax in at least two songs, then this project is pointless. ;}
  5. Role Models (2008) I hadn't seen this one in a long minute. So funny. I forgot how good it was. Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (2005) I also have seen this film in a very long time. It's a classic.
  6. Yep...I'm not holding out on them bettering that one though. Not a chance. Still I'm amazed they're gonna try.
  7. Weeknd singing style sounds a lot like early 80's Michael Jackson Which is what immediately drew me to him back in 2011. Michael Jackson singing dirty sexy R&B. I love it.
  8. Usually a song has to sit with me for a few years before it becomes solidified as an all-time favourite, but this one was pretty much instant. I can not get enough of this song. I need Summer to start like yesterday!!
  9. This made me laugh. Not because of the bands listed, but because of all those MySpace links. ;} Remember when that was a thing?
  10. I think this thread is dedicated to "Modern" Rock. Anyway, I love Daft Punk, and I love The Weeknd, but when I first heard "Starboy" I thought, what part of this is Daft Punk? It doesn't really sound like Daft Punk. However, when I heard "I Feel It Coming" I was like, this is Daft Punk! Sure enough I was right. Now that song I absolutely adore!!
  11. Wasnt obvious...i just assumed youd seen him loads of times given you listen all the time By the way hes played Canada 4 times but only Toronto and Montreal ....and the last time was 2005. Yeah, that's a five hour flight. And prolly $400.
  12. Let's go with Gotthard. Worked for Glen, when he chose the 'obvious' on my list.
  13. I remember bidding on this once, but was way outbid. Now I'm sad I didn't get it.
  14. Twice. Trying to remember the years as the last decade has been a blur. I think it was 2011 and 2015. 2015 started off rough, because they weren't mixed well. But the sound guys got it sorted after a few songs. Daryl Hall at 63 -- at the time -- still had an amazing presence. At the end, my brother and I were a bit disappointed they didn't play all our favourite songs. 2011 was one of the best shows of my life! They were on fire! Daryl and John sounded great, the band was tight, and they played all my favourites. I'm hoping they come back soon. Nice. Would have been great to see them back in the day. I do wonder if i would be disappointed now?? Lovin this thread and talking about gigs - its something we dont do enough of around here - i hope a few more join in with their lists. I don't think you would be disappointed. Daryl can still sing his ass off. Maybe can't sustain his high notes, but he can hit 'em. And, as I said, the band is so tight. Funny how the Concerts thread never inspires much conversation.
  15. I was gonna flat out say no, but then I actually thought about it. I don't know of a music video that turned me off a song -- there are videos I hate, though -- but there are songs that I may never have listened to, otherwise. Case in point (I'm gonna catch soooooooo much flak for this): Justin Beiber's "Sorry." The girls are too fine, and now I love hearing the song, because I immediately picture the girl in green (with my name misspelled on her back ;}) dancing.
  16. Maybe 15+. I've listened to it once every day I've had it (excluding weekends), and some days twice.
  17. Well, now that I know you're from the UK, I'm gonna say Black Stone Cherry. Also, maybe I should take my list to the Mafia. See if I can stump any of them there. At the very least, I'll piss off a bunch with a few of those. ;}

  19. Well, shit. That didn't last. Haha. I'm not sure they've even been to Canada.
