I see bands like Default, Creed and Fuel on here and I'm not saying those bands don't belong but I also feel like Collective Soul was closer in sound and presentation to old school hard rock than any of these bands. Undeniable hooks, earworm riffs, catchy choruses. Huge swagger but I saw someone complaining that they should never be on the site so... if I was to submit some of their albums would they be rejected?

You can pretty much talk about any music on here, regardless of genre. But it's better to discuss anything that doesn't fit into one of the specific forum categories, in the general music forum. I know Default and Fuel are in the main database, but I doubt Creed ever will be as they are far too close to grunge for many peoples tastes.

There are people here who do like them though, and you may even find a topic or two over in the general forum. Plus I know a video was posted in the music video forum recently.

I think Collective Soul has had vids posted before as well.

They certainly have a couple of fans on here. Sure it's @whiplash1972 who tends to post stuff by them.

Sorry, I was thinking of Alter Bridge not Creed. I was actually talking about them being listed on Heavy Harmonies not discussed on the boards. I apologize for the confusion.

Alter Bridge is very much in the same bracket as Audioslave. A band that is more in common with the bands we listen to, but the bands that spawned them really are not gonna get much attention on here.

Thanks, I'm still wondering if Collective Soul could make it onto Heavy Harmonies.

I personally think the answer should be a no to Collective Soul. While I like them, I think they are more alternative rock and if they are added in the database, it means there are a thousand other 90s era bands that also should be there. I agree it is inconsistent when a band like Fuel is apparently in there too, but I don't think Fuel should be there either, for the same reasons.

    • Well it definitely motivated Spongebob
    • I love motivational hair metal songs, so I figured I'll create a thread for people share them. Here are a few of my favorites: "Don't Surrender" by Mercury   "Overnight Sensation" by Firehouse   "Sweet Victory" by David Glen Eisley and Bob Kulick
    • New album out January 24. From Pride & Joy Music: UK guitarist and songwriter Neil Fraser previously has worked/recorded with the likes of TEN, Rage of Angels/Ged Rylands (Tyketto), Tony Mills (TNT, SHY). Trishula started out as Neil’s solo project back in 2015.    Fraser had previously worked with Welsh vocalist Jason Morgan in the band Rage of Angels, so Jason was Neil’s first choice for lead vocal duties when it came to assembling the band members for Trishula. It took another 4 years of song writing from 2015 before the debut album ‘Scared to breathe’ was released in 2019. Whilst recording the debut, the UK based group were joined by Neil’s long-time friend and MAGNUM keyboard player Rick Benton and bass player Dan Clark from the Rebecca Downes Band. One year after the release of the debut, Trishula released their second album ‘Time waits for no man’ in 2020. It was at this point that Neil Ogden (DEMON) became their new drummer. A third album, ‘We all fall down’, was released in 2022.   The brand new fourth CD is titled ‘Becoming the enemy’ and the first one to be released on the band’s new label Pride & Joy Music.
    • My introduction to the band...way back when
    • Well that took far too long to kick in for me,its ok and he has an amazing voice...just wish he'd get a great song given to him again
    • This one popped up in my rotation today as it does frequently because I fucking love this track.  It contains killer lines like, "From the pale lips of the youth who lay", "After dark is the game I play" and "I hit the sack when the Sun's coming back". I've also added a video of an acoustic performance I came across years ago by some young "buskers", which is AWESOME! I wonder how many of you know this classic from the lines above before clicking on the "hidden content"? I would guess most.
    • Robban Back was their studio drummer
    • 'Still Believe' was my pick from this album. All in all I'd agree it's probably their best in a while. Not great, but not bad.
