From the interwebz:

Signed by Perris Records, 99 CRIMES are ready to release their full length debut "99 Crimes" tomorrow. This powerhouse '80s inspired trio is led by current Dangerous Toys and former Dirty Looks guitarist Paul Lidel. Lidel handles both vocals and guitar duties, joined by bassist Jeff Lynn (also lead vocals) and drummer Chris Jordan (ex Miss Crazy), who make for a killer rhythm section.

Of note, Lidel was a part of one of the most underrated albums out there — Dirty Looks‘ 'Cool From The Wire' — which should have put the band on the same level back in 1988 as the bigger bands like Dokken, Ratt, etc.
Accordingly, with such a strong pedigree behind him, I was very interested in checking out Lidel‘s new band 99 Crimes. Even more interesting was that Lidel is fronting the band.

Straight ahead, no gimmick traditional hard rock is what you’ll get from 99 Crimes' music.
Just check “Comin’ Down Like Rain”, a perfect example of these guys delivery, catchy, bluesy American hard rock firmly planted in the second half of the '80s hard rock style: groovy, melodic and plenty of bounce.
Lidel's way of singing is raw yet in control, always in tune.

At first, I thought that Lidel handled all of the lead vocals, but there's a welcomed surprise. Bassist Jeff Lynn performs the leads on some songs, and he's a very melodic hard rock oriented vocalist.
Lynn sings on the melodic hard rocker “Avenue”. If someone had told me that Triumph's guitarist Rik Emmett was singing the track with his trademark high pitched voice, I would firmly have believed that it was indeed Emmett handling the lead vocals. A highlight.

"Devil In Your Dreams” is a great opening track. In your face straight from the get go, everything you want in a opening track. It checks all the boxes and things just keep rolling from there.
“Do It Over” and “9 Pound Hammer” are built on a guitar riff that comes back over and over again. If anything, I would describe 99 Crimes on these tracks as a mixture of classic rock and ’80s hair metal all rolled into one.
More midtempo is “Move like That”, driven by a dense riff. It has a head-banging toe tapping sing-a-long chorus which reminds me of Y&T, and smoking solo.

Hailing from Texas, 99 Crimes proves that '80s inspired traditional hard rock isn't dead in America.
As you might expect from Lidel, you are getting some old school / no frills rock n’ roll and his voice has a real retro ’70s feel to it, very well balanced by Lynn's more melodic approach. The guitar playing is all over, yet doesn’t overplay on the songs.
There isn’t one weak track on this album. In fact, all the songs are really good.
Highly Recommended

Not true mate. As i've mentioned before. Just because it wasn't commented on doesn't mean it wasn't appreciated. I'm enjoying it based on your post, so thank you. Is that enough validation for you?  Geesh...Needy much?        ;)

    • Originally recorded for, but not included on "Reckless"... ...the song has since been included on the 30th anniversary reissue of the album.
    • "Monster"     "Killer Katharina"   "Party Rock Anthem"   "Hard Times"
    • I'd put them in the same bracket as Ghost. Complete rip off, although the album is good.
    • Tokyo Blade to release a new album in January 2025. It’s titled Time is the Fire with the release date slotted for 17th January via Dissonance Productions. Tokyo Blade go all the way back to 1982 and were in the thick of the then emerging New Wave of British Heavy Metal with their self-titled debut album appearing in 1983 quickly followed in 1984 by the classic Night of the Blade. That album gained much momentum for the band however after that it seemed as though the law of diminishing returns applied with the success of Night of the Blade not being capitalised on. Despite many line-up changes over the years allied with periods of inactivity and reformations, the band has continued and over recent years released four albums since 2018, the last of which was Fury in 2022. And now we have Time is the Fire to look forward to in January 2025 which will comprise of fourteen new songs. Time is the Fire is available for pre-order from Cherry Red with all sorts of different formats available including CD and coloured double vinyl. • Haha, thanks mate. I'm pretty fond of that one too.  I think I've said it a few times in this thread, but I don't think AI is a threat to "real" music whatsoever. Sorry, I know I'm repeating myself, but I could see a world where it has a significant impact on dance music and music that is already, for lack of a better term, created artificially anyway.  And I am amazed by, and love what it can do with rock/metal music, but it's still got nothing on what a group of four or five like-minded individuals can come up with, or most notably, a song-writer with a great voice. Or even a good voice.  I have some deeper cuts in my newer material and I am happy enough with the results but it still sounds like AI emotive, absolutely no comparison at all to a real dude pouring his heart out with his own delivery and melodic structure, straight from a songwriter's brain. And as cool as the music is, you listen to a heap of AI and then you put on just one or two top-end favourite bands and you're all like, oh, yeah, AI definitely can't do that. All the intricacies like guitar and drum fills, vocal hooks and melodies... if anything AI music has given me more appreciation for great artists. On the flip-side, it makes me view poorer artists in a dimmer light, lol, but it makes me really appreciate the real craftsmen and women a lot more.  lol, speaking of rants.  Ah, I've had this pickle a few times before. I like the chorus better in V1, but the verses better in V2. Usually in this case the chorus (V1) would win out for me.  And hey, thanks for posting these, lol. I was playing them and looked to the side of my screen and noticed I had 50 credits!! Bonus. I wouldn't have checked otherwise. So I guess even if you run out, you still get the standard daily 50 credits that even free users get. Gotta admit, that's a bit of a relief as 14 more days of nothing was going to be tough. And at last 50 keeps me well limited too. I might not even get one keeper song with 50 credits the way I've been going recently.
