Street Symphonies Records & Burning Minds Music Group are proud to announce all the details of "Rehab", first official solo album by Italian singer/songwriter Gianluca Firmo. After the critical and fans' acclaim received with the release of Room Experience in 2015 (fronted by rockstar vocalist David Readman), Gianluca was invited by the Street Symphonies' label team to express himself also as singer in a dedicated solo release, in order to show another side of his musical personality. With a finalized line-up of skilled and talented musicians, recruited appositely for backing Gianluca in this solo adventure, recordings started last year @ Atomic Stuff Studio (Isorella - Italy), under the technical supervision of sound engineer Oscar Burato (Airbound, Orphan Skin Diseases). The result is shown in twelve charming melodic rock songs, where Gianluca finally had the chance to share his personal singing style coached by the skills and experience of vocal producer Davide "Dave Rox" Barbieri (Raintimes, Room Experience, Wheels Of Fire, Charming Grace).

Gianluca says: "Beside the fact that it allows me to sing my own songs, this record for me is both a test and an achievement. A test because It’s the first time that I’m in charge for everything concerning the production of a record. And it is an achievement because I had the chance to work shoulder to shoulder in the studio with some amazing musicians, but also the luck to find a label that allowed me (and supported me) to work with no artistic boundaries and even make some unusual choices to follow my different musical influences and tastes. I feel the result is very personal and though it’s far from being perfect, it sure is my perfect rehab from being put in any frame. And as today I couldn’t be happier than this".

Firmo's debut "Rehab" is set for release on October 19, 2018 via Street Symphonies Records / Burning Minds Music Group in Europe, while a dedicated Japanese release is expected later in November via AnderStein Music. Mastering duties have been handled by renowned studio engineer Roberto Priori (Danger Zone, Raintimes, Wheels Of Fire) @ PriStudio (Bologna - Italy). CD graphics have been designed instead by Aeglos Art (Airbound, Raintimes, Michael Kratz, Room Experience, Charming Grace), while the CD booklet features introductive liner notes written by renowned rock journalist Paul Woodward (Fireworks Magazine).

    • I have a few (two, maybe three?) friends on here who know me and my ongoing fascination with ballads and power ballads. I thought i'd catch you up on the project. As a teen I made a collection of 10 or so mix tapes which i named "Mellow Metal," which looking back makes me chuckle. While the title's alliteration was pleasing to the ears, many of the songs included on the tapes were hardly metal. Ballads by Cheap Trick, Heart, and other such outliers were included in the collection. In August of 2020 i began my journey of an online project by starting a list of every ballad i knew by AOR, Hard Rocks, Heavy Metal, and Hair Metal acts. I crafted criteria for "What Makes a Power Ballad," and the list began to grow. Quickly. In December of that year i lost my oldest son to an overdose, and my enthusiasm and passion for that project evaporated. In the ensuing months, the original domain lapsed and i remained uninspired. The project died. Three years later, I was looking for something to bring me joy — so i revived the project with a new domain of thepowerballadz.com. I began to once again make posts online asking for song suggestions and i realized i had real trouble selling my song choices as POWER BALLADS. People rightfully pushed me on my song choices, and i realized that the term POWER BALLAD was too ... focused. I realized i wanted all mellow songs by bands that i love ... some of which are power ballads, some are just ballads, and yet some aren't even ballads ... just mellow songs. So, I've retooled my criteria from determining what a POWER BALLAD is to determining what songs make the cut to be on my list. I've also decided that the title thepowerballadz isn't working anymore ... so I've gone with theballadz.com. Is that a perfect moniker? Probably not. (Got a better idea? Let me know!) So, HERE is a link to the updated website and HERE is a link to the updated criteria. I'd love to hear thoughts from any ballad (power ballad or not) fans. Thanks guys!

    • I guarantee that virtually nobody here will like this, as it is death metal, but interesting and innovative choices in instrumentation and composition intrigue me. When this song hits the breakdown it takes on very interesting vibe IMO.
    • New song 'The Nero Decree' featuring Marty Friedman on lead guitar, Ralph Sheepers on vocals, Fredrik Folkare on rhythm guitars, Steve Mann on keyboards, Barend Courbois on bass, Bodo Schopf on drums.
