Samples of new Whitesnake.....

On these samples, a few tracks sound really good. Too many ballads/softer tracks for me, but the heavier tunes sound encouraging and Mr Coverdale is in excellent voice.

They are very short samples though as you say they give an idea of what to expect. From what I can hear these songs sound quite promising. I'm more than happy for a few extra ballads/softer tracks, as 'Summer Rain' and 'All I Want All I Need' were two of my favourite tracks from their excellent 'Good to Be Bad' album. Though for those who don't like the softer stuff, I wouldn't be disappointed as this sounds like it will be similar to their last album in terms of mixing up the style with old and new Whitesnake with plenty of rockers.

These samples didn't do much for me. Since I like more the melodic stuff of WS (Slide it in, 1987 and and some songs on Slip of the tongue) it was to many raw rockers here. The production was not the greatest either.

And Bad to the bone seems alot better than this release IMO.

I love Doug Aldrich don't get me wrong but why is Reb Beach even in Whitesnake is he doesn't get to shred around like Aldrich. They have 2 distinct sounds however on the last one and on the new track 'Love Will Set You Free' you barely notice Reb at all. To me Reb Beach is wasting his talents being with Whitesnake. He must have permently checked his ego at the door, because not too many superstars would let another outshine him like Aldrich does with Whitesnake.

Interesting point. Did the same happen to Adrian Vandenberg when John Sykes and then Steve Vai were in the band? I can't really remember what the band dynamic was then.

I've wondered the same thing...

Beach > Aldrich

My mistake. Vandenberg isn't credited on any of their albums, is he? Did he just tour and appear in promo videos?

Vandenberg did play a note or two on the 1987 release with I think the solo on "Here I Go Again" but the liner notes only say special guest.

He didn't play on the Slip of the Tongue because he had hurt his hand or something so Vai played all of that release. I think he did play on the "Restless Heart" release and he for sure played on the live acoustic "Starkers in Tokyo" disc.
