I like this band, but is it just me, or do they get a little softer with each album? If they keep polishing down that hard rock edge, pretty soon they'll be played on CCM radio alongside Casting Crowns, Stephen Curtis Chapman, and Sanctus Real.

Of course, I've only heard one fairly mellow song off the new album; the rest of the CD might rock like a mother!! (Jim, can you shed any light on this?)

From what I've gathered, it is a bit 'mellower' on this release.........

Good to know. Usually I blind-buy this band, but I think this time I'll have to check out sound samples before shelling out the dough.

Wow. Has anyone heard the new album - 'The Anthem of Angels?' Sorry in advance to the christians aboard as I'm sure I'll no doubt offend, but this is the most Jesus-whipped, pathetic, whimpery, and (figuratively?) God-semen-guzzling CD I think I've heard yet. What a truly pathetic, miserable and disgraceful band they come across as on this CD. Millimetres away from forming some extremist christian cult, I fear, is where these empty human shells are at.

I've kind of dug these guys through the years. Grinned and beared through their ugly (but never this extreme?) christian lyrics for the sake of some good modern rock songs, but I don't know what to make of this one. The songs are still pretty decent - though they seem to be quite subdued and samey this time around. But the lyrics... man... unbelievable. I'm sure that even some "normal" christians will be embarrassed for the guys with this effort. They really just sound so pathetic, needy and desperate.

I wanted to copy and paste some of the lyrics as an example so people could see where I'm coming from, but looks like it's a no go. A lot of crap about being one mistake away losing the love of the great, spiteful and hateful God these schmucks live for, a lot of references to being warmly nestled in God's sexy and muscular arms, the one who makes nations tremble knowing this dude's name and utter rubbish like that. Just a hell of a lot of sad whining about how these poor pieces of shit aren't good enough for their supposedly all-loving God who actually hates them because they're not good enough for his love... or something like that.

Why people waste time critisizing a band like Steel Panther for actually writing lyrics with substance (well, compared to this garbage anyway ) while this shit is circulating the airwaves... I cannot fathom it. :(

While the lyrics are quite evangelical, the music on this release seems to have gone back to a more rockin' direction.

So you loudly preach that we should all simply sit back and ignore Steel Panther's extremely raunchy lyrics for the sake of being entertained by good songs, but you insist you can't listen to these extreme Christian lyrics despite the songs being good? Where I come from, that's called hypocrisy, my friend. B)

And for the record, this album is much better than their last couple, and I am not one bit bothered, embarrassed, or offended by the lyrics. If I'm not bothered by you referring to Seventh Day Slumber as a bunch of God-semen-guzzlers, I'm certainly not bothered by the lyrics on this CD.

It would make me hypocritical, if that's what I'd said. ;)

My brothers agreed with me recently that for a hater of any and all religion, I probably have the biggest collection of christian music, seriously, in the world? Who knows?

But you should know better - I pretty much sold Disciple's 'Scars Remain' to a heap of members here who'd have probably not heard it otherwise. I've constantly praised The Brave and Holy Soldier for example... and when it's good I acknowledge it.

But mate, all I said here was "The songs are still pretty decent - though they seem to be quite subdued and samey this time around." That's hardly singing it's praises. Especially compared to a band like Steel Panther, who are inarguably recording music and songs (not including lyrics) which are every bit as excellent as the best of 1989-1991. Those songs are not just "okay."

If this CD was that good I'd cringe through it despite the lyrics, but it's not. It's standard modern rock that many have done a lot better, with a lot better lyrics. ;)

Sorry mate, just a so-so CD made pretty unacceptable by amazingly bad lyrics.

Well, these bottom feeders are at it again. For those who don't know, these miserable gronks have released another album this year, called 'Found.' It can't just be me, but do these guys sound less and less like a "skilled" band that has been at it for years with almost every release? This sounds like a pre-record deal album in the early years, as opposed to the 50 or 60th album they've recorded. It's so mopey and sad and miserable.

These guys, to me, are the pin up boys for the misery that voluntary enslavement to a moronic religion brings. These guys just sound so miserable and down on life... chained down by the restrictions and excessive moronicy (yep, it's a word - I just made it so) of their idiotic religion. They sound like they just feel trapped and will deal with it until their miserable demise where wow, surprise surprise... no delightful afterlife for them to spread their misery amongst other devotees. Just an end to their misery... probably not a bad trade off.

Anyway, I haven't minded these bands and the 'We are the broken' album from 2014 was actually the best they've achieved yet. This new album isn't their greatest... it's actually quite poor... but just their dreary, downtrodden misery... jeez it's irritating.

lol. Jeez I've sung this band's praises in the past! Awkward Jesse Pinkman GIF by Breaking Bad

Anyway, new year (or two), new album. They're still the same band they were from day one but I guess the lyrics aren't that bad this time around as I didn't really even notice them separately, to be honest. So nothing scathing this time 'round, just letting y'all know that if interested, they released a new album. I think it's okay, but no keepers.

Fractured Paradise

1    .    Yours Truly
2    .    Chemical Burn
3        Surviving The Wasteland
4    .    A Bullet Meant For Me
5    .    Blistering Memories
6    .    Feasting On Vultures
7    .    Lizards Of Malice
8    .    My Novocain
9    .    Rehearsing Tragedies
10    .    Fractured Paradise

These guys have gone heavier the last couple of releases and while they remain solid, I think they had better hooks back when they were not quite as hard. As for the lyrics ... from what I've read, they're gunning for crossover appeal in the secular market, which means dialing back the Jesus-speak in favor of vaguer topics. But Geoff is right when he states this album is just okay. I like it well enough, but it's nothing special.

    • Seems these guys are no more   https://sleazeroxx.com/r-i-p-cobrakill-lead-guitarist-randy-white-announces-band-no-longer-exists/
    • I grew up listening to Cuntry, and have kinda wanted to get back into it. But not the typical New Cuntry shit. So I'll give this a try.
    • I always forget about this band, and then I listen to them and am like, "Oh, yeah, they're good!" And then forget about them for another year.
    • I was a pretty big fan. Nature Of The Beast is a killer song. Saw them with Dave Gleeson from the Screaming Jets singing and he did an amazing job, but pretty sure they have a new singer now  I recently went through the two most recent albums before this one and there were a couple of ok tracks, but mostly mid. Fun fact: I saw the Angels a couple of years before Doc died at the Middle hotel in Ferntree Gully and they seemed to hate each other. Pretty sure Doc said nothing to the crowd all night. Fun fact 2: when they were building the transit bar in Melbourne, a mate and I found a service elevator that went to the roof, which was under construction. After peeing off the roof, which is always fun, we realised that we could clearly hear the music 5 or 6 floors below from a DJ I think. He was playing Am I Ever Gonna See Your Face Again. We started yelling down the No Way Get Fucked, Fuck Off bit thinking we were hilarious. Then soon we noticed people looking up, and for some reason they seemed to be clearly hearing us. Another mate then called us to tell us security were on the way up the stairs so we took the service elevator down and managed to laugh it off. Stoopid drunk story I guess, but fun days.
    • Cheeky, getting your artwork in there. I wonder how you did that.  I like the vocal track on #1 and that'd be my pick. I personally don't dig the female versions of songs, because I'm not a female (yet?) and as these are songs written by ourselves I personally feel the best interpretation is an AI dude voice taking the place of your dude voice.
    • Yeah, that's great but this is obviously an accomplished musician probably completely in control of this output... not done with Suno, I'd bet. There's definitely dudes out there who are perfectly capable of doing their own music, like this dude, but for whatever reason might not be able to put a project together, again, for whatever reason... but this definitely feels a lot more like AI feeling in the missing gaps for someone otherwise in complete control of what he wants.  Either way, it is very cool indeed.  As Darkstone says, I'm not sure paying is the way to get the best results. I'm also not saying it isn't, especially with other platforms that are not Suno. I think already knowing what you're doing, musically, is the best way to get best results, personally. Suno, for example, is just perfect for someone who might enjoy writing lyrics but is not in any way shape or form an accomplished (or even adequate, lol) musician.  But yeah, it's pretty cool for some fun. I'm not sure if you checked out my links above. Keeping them pretty quiet due to lyrical content, lol, but you might dig some of the stuff in my links. 'As the moment passes by' and 'I'll wait for you' are two of my personal faves. Along with 'Faith to fall.'
    • Yeah, musically it's what you want, but vocally... Maybe Alex should take some vocal lessons from Ken Tamplin. ;}
    • Your Eyes - Darkstone (2024) Two versions of my song number 6     https://suno.com/song/e8c1e85b-21ee-4d35-a64b-e786f00944d2   https://suno.com/song/9144c77a-bd7c-49c1-9508-f724d0832fdb
    • Yep, although I was never a massive fan.
