More game show nonsense

I loved when Game Show Network was running those '70s "Match Game" episodes seemingly around the clock. (Nowadays they've got way more of their "original" shows on the schedules and don't seem to run as many of the classics...) I could watch those old "Match Games" all day long. Richard Dawson, Charles Nelson Reilly, and Brett Somers were frickin' hilarious on the panel, and host Gene Rayburn was a hoot too. They don't make'em like that show anymore!!

Brett Somers was married to Jack Klugman of "Odd Couple" fame if memory serves. Is she even still alive? I know Charles Nelson Reilly kicked the bucket a year or two ago.

Gotta add Paul Lynde...he was a froot but funny as hell...

Plus he had the good taste to give KISS their first major TV exposure on his 1976 "Halloween Special" :metal:

Read somewhere that Dawson is the only surviving "regular" of the show. Found this on YouTube a few minutes ago. Charles Nelson Reilly, Brett Somers and Betty White from 2002 reminiscing about the show.

This show was sheer, out of control genius. I just watched an episode where the cast of The Carol Burnette Show crashed the show and it was freakin hilarious. Cast members would start mock fights with each other, cheat off of each other ... all kinds of crazy shit.

There's no way in hell any of today's celebutards could pull off a show like this - or Hollywood Squares. Weren't those cast members similar??

Okay, so you guys know I'm a Match Game junkie, right? Well, while watching it constantly I've wondered from time to time if anyone I knew when I lived in LA would ever pop up on the show (actually, their parents but I knew a few "older people" in LA also ..).

Well, I'm watching it the other night, as I always do, when lo and freakin behold someone with the same name as an old girlfriend of mine's mother was a contestant. Luckily, I'm actually still friends with that girl so I shot her an eMail asking if her mom had ever been on that show.

Would you fucking believe it was her?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

>> OH yea gotta LOVE the classic Match Game!!! the new one kinda sucks, but Damn that one from the 70s was funny as hell!!!! <<

There's a new version??? What's the point? The celebutards today have 1/1,000th of the charisma that Richard dawson, Brett somers, etc. had.

As for the 70's version, I'm addicted to it. I TiVo it everyday and wait until 15 - 20 episodes are recorded (which is every 3 or 4 days) and then have myself a lil marathon.

My son was watching the movie "All Dogs Go To Heaven" over the weekend and one of the dog's voices sounded very familiar but I couldn't place it... about half way thru the movie it finally hit me... it was perennial "Match Game" panelist Charles Nelson Reilly!

    • Eclipse played that same game when Apocalypse Blues came out.  They dropped that song as just a single and made no mention of an album at that point as far as I remember.  All they were doing was selling the 7 inch vinyl.  We know now though that they clearly knew a full album was coming as Erik said they basically were working on both albums at the same time and deciding which tracks would go on each album.  Granted, maybe they didn't know the full timing of album #2 at that point but they certainly knew one was coming. Maybe the same here.  Maybe will trickle out a few songs and then announce an album later this year or early next year when it's closer to release.
    • So, Danny posted how the song is doing on Spotify and someone asked if this means a new album soon. Danny just made vague replies and said "well there will be more stuff coming soon"
    • Funnily enough, I read that this afternoon when I went to add the album to my collection on the main page. I got the European version which has two bonus tracks ... if you don't have them, you really aint missing anything

    • Created and Posted this video recently in order to promote Ryder SRIII a little more.  I love this song, one of my personal favs from the record.   Be careful viewing at work though (NSFW), just for a couple of images in the video.
    • Named my HH self after the song Auslander on the album Stain. Love that track. Really like the whole album. It's like Living Colour's "Slave to the Grind" or "Dog Eat Dog".
    • From Frontiers: TRACKLIST: 1 Awesome God 2 Stand Up 3 Warrior 4 There You Are 5 Speak His Name 6 Why God Brought Me Here 7 Praying 8 It's Up to You 9 Holy Moment 10 Leaning on the Cross 11 Jesus Christ --- When a musical family gets together to record, magic can happen and this is what the VAN ZANT’s are here for! Brothers Johnny and Donnie Van Zant (respectively current lead vocalist of Southern Rock icons Lynyrd Skynyrd and founding member of .38 Special) were able to find room in their busy schedules for the first time in 1998, recording their collaboration album “Brother to Brother”: a tribute to their late brother and Lynyrd Skynyrd original singer and founding member Ronnie. Such release was highly acclaimed between the press and fans worldwide and brought the duo to record a follow up album, simply entitled “II” in 2001. Their collaboration during the years did not stop as they tapped their feet in a more Country-oriented style with the release of “Get Right With the Man” (certified Gold in the USA in 2005) and later on with “My Kind of Country” in 2007. Now the brothers once again reinvent themselves, offering a Christian-themed album encompassing their Rock and Blues musical roots (and with a touch of Country for good measure). The result “Always Look Up” is made up of songs that will touch the listener’s heart and soul, with an emotional depth that is truly second to none in today’s musical landscape. Experience the soul touching that only the music from the Van Zant family, can provide. You will see why they are icons of the American South, and musical heroes to millions around the globe!
