Damn.... I was watching/listening to the Metal Channel the other day on Comcast digital, and they played "At The Graveyard" from the band Wolf. I was drawn right in! I have since tracked down the disc "The Black Flame". This is some killer stuff folks. :banger:

Anybody else into these guys? Anyone who wants to check it out, PM me. :beerbang:

All of the their releases are top notch. They have 4 full lengths under their belts with my favorite being "Black Wings". That said, not a bad album in the bunch. In fact, I'd say they are far superior to 95% of the current metal scene. Total Mercyful Fate/ Maiden structures with their own sound and just great songs. Highly recommended. :banger::headbanger::banger:

I had EVIL STAR for a while but eventually traded it off... decent enough band but that vocalist gets annoying after a while... one or two tracks at a time wouldn''t bother me but if I tried listening to the whole CD in one sitting he'd REALLY start to grate on me by about the mid-way point...

I applaud their great taste in cover songs though. They did the Ramones' "I'm Not Afraid of Life" on EVIL STAR, that's enough for them to earn a thumbs up from me.

is this the band that did that cover of Dont Fear The Reaper that was in Six Feet Under? is that cover on this album?

They have indeed covered "Don't Fear The Reaper," but I dunno if that's the version that was in "Six Feet Under" as I've never seen that show...

attempt at vocals.. :puke: but musically it was a kicker... :banger:

I kind of agree with you guys now that I've heard this.

Musically it's really good but it's almost like they're trying to be Hammerfall but their not quite as good.

Their cover of "Don't Fear the Reaper" Is on their "Evil Star" Album... Pretty good cover too..... :headbanger:

I really dig this cover too. It's like drenching the original tune with metal riffage. It's dark...and atmospheric in a way. Can be spine-tingling!

    • Eclipse played that same game when Apocalypse Blues came out.  They dropped that song as just a single and made no mention of an album at that point as far as I remember.  All they were doing was selling the 7 inch vinyl.  We know now though that they clearly knew a full album was coming as Erik said they basically were working on both albums at the same time and deciding which tracks would go on each album.  Granted, maybe they didn't know the full timing of album #2 at that point but they certainly knew one was coming. Maybe the same here.  Maybe will trickle out a few songs and then announce an album later this year or early next year when it's closer to release.
    • So, Danny posted how the song is doing on Spotify and someone asked if this means a new album soon. Danny just made vague replies and said "well there will be more stuff coming soon"
    • Funnily enough, I read that this afternoon when I went to add the album to my collection on the main page. I got the European version which has two bonus tracks ... if you don't have them, you really aint missing anything

    • Named my HH self after the song Auslander on the album Stain. Love that track. Really like the whole album. It's like Living Colour's "Slave to the Grind" or "Dog Eat Dog".

Brothers Johnny and Donnie Van Zant (respectively current lead vocalist of Southern Rock icons Lynyrd Skynyrd and founding member of .38 Special) were able to find room in their busy schedules for the first time in 1998, recording their collaboration album “Brother to Brother”: a tribute to their late brother and Lynyrd Skynyrd original singer and founding member Ronnie. Such release was highly acclaimed between the press and fans worldwide and brought the duo to record a follow up album, simply entitled “II” in 2001. Their collaboration during the years did not stop as they tapped their feet in a more Country-oriented style with the release of “Get Right With the Man” (certified Gold in the USA in 2005) and later on with “My Kind of Country” in 2007. Now the brothers once again reinvent themselves, offering a Christian-themed album encompassing their Rock and Blues musical roots (and with a touch of Country for good measure). The result “Always Look Up” is made up of songs that will touch the listener’s heart and soul, with an emotional depth that is truly second to none in today’s musical landscape. Experience the soul touching that only the music from the Van Zant family, can provide. You will see why they are icons of the American South, and musical heroes to millions around the globe!
