  1. That's because it wasn't their song. Yeah, to be honest that was news to me when I saw it in those above posts... but at least it makes sense now. That was news to me too. My favorite song from them is that cover as well haha. It's that prechorus "rap" and brief-worded chorus that makes it unique...if my memory serves me correct.
  2. bro, i think you're wrong in some of your comments here....hammerfall came in late 90's from a shitty label back then(their success didn't make them leaders for anything)... there were way too many underground power metal acts in germany/US before them. so they were not the leaders in anything(ahaha, iron savior's joke was another one trick of kai to make some more money out of the fans...what was the reason for them while he had gamma ray playing the same thing all the time).....and skylark's great debut cd came also the same time as rhapsody's first demo which was also good one...but skylark's one was better, but yet rhapsody took all the fame...ah well.... also you're wrong about wizard, wizard where wayyyyyy older than hammerfall and made some great stuff in the manowar tradition....their first demotape which i have original came back in 91....it's not their fault if they didn't have a label or enough money back then to record their first cd which came 4 years later.... I recall Skylark's debut CD well. It's been a while since I listened to it. Great ideas, I was just having trouble getting past the thick Italian accent and I even think they were using a drum machine.
  3. The Barlow-less NIGHT OF THE STORMRIDER ranks pretty high with me, that's a great album. The debut is a decent listen as well, even though the vocalist on that one left a little to be desired (he sounded like David Wayne of Metal Church...with a bad head cold!). Though my fave I.E. album overall is still SOMETHING WICKED THIS WAY COMES, some of Barlow's best vocal work is on his first album with them, BURNT OFFERINGS... dunno why Schaffer seems to hate that album so much... it's their darkest, nastiest record all around! I don't understand either why he puts his own masterpiece down, Freddy. Burnt Offerings is a gem, a fluke (in a very good way)...it's a visual paragon. Not only does it have technical prowess, filled with unorthodox arrangements...it is also very artistic because it conjures up so many powerful visuals & an atmosphere of darkness, hypocrisy, and hell+fire+brimstone. What I like about it so much is that I can feel sincere anger and emotion in the writing. It feels like...he was being absolutely "TRUE" to himself!!
  4. Greetings and Blessings, everybody! I'm new here as well. You can say I've been a metal guy for over twenty years and just thinking about that right now reminds me of how old I am. I enjoy and get highs from the whole spectrum of melodic metal...from AOR to Black Metal. It's hard to claim favorites but I can tell you right now I'm quite fond of high soaring vocals running over double bass drums and fluid guitar movements. ) Oh but how I love acoustic guitar too heheh. Anyhows I am here to share thoughts, want lists, and to trade/sell collectibles definitely! Times are tough right now so I hope everyone the best.
  5. His gentle spirit showed through his voice. So calm and soothing, yet with such presence. My prayer has gone out to his spirit.
  6. Do you really?? This is the first time I've heard of someone having more than one copy, but not only that, SEALED too! ahahaha, you're right. it's not sealed. i should have written unplayed. i usually get my cds, even new ones, without jewel cases, so obviously one had to open them in order to send them to me..... so i have 3 copies, my personal one and 2 unplayed ones but definately not sealed..... I understand, when I worked in mailorder distro, nearly all of the CD's were unsealed...they were just "new" and unplayed. Imports! What if I traded you an mp3 of something for an mp3 of "Not Falling?!
  7. Man you were able to see Saviour Machine with Veni Domine, what a combo! That's a good team-up because both bands play at a matching tempo. Saviour Machine song titles are also so very rooted in Scripture. Completely out of key yeah, not a good experience to have the record playing in the car if you've had girlfriends with perfect pitch who would complain.
  8. Nevermore - The Seven Tongues Of God Manzana - Panda Girl !!
  9. Hey the girl in the Miles Away video....gorgeous. Whoa man that was like two decades ago?! Haha.
  10. I really dig this cover too. It's like drenching the original tune with metal riffage. It's dark...and atmospheric in a way. Can be spine-tingling!
  11. My thoughts exactly. If it has the extension "-core" at the end, it's poison for most people into the whole spectrum of melodic metal subgenres. I'm serious!
  12. I would agree they are quite overlooked. Not only that, they have a really stellar band name. As well as one kick-ass album title, "Noble Savage." !!!
  13. Yeah but his guitarist is hot! She's got a "Cousin It" thing goin' there!
  14. Their album "Hypothetical" is a great start as well. Chunky metallic sound yet incorporation of classy piano passages and strong, clear vocals. The "Keep My Head" track makes me think of "easy listening." Diverse!
