Crash Alley

OK, so I find this cassette tape the other day, I will try and post a pic of it tomorrow, of a band called Crash Alley. The tape is self titled on EZ Records from 1991 and again out of Cincinnati, Ohio. The cover of the tape is, of course an alley, with a hot chick and some long haired dude crawling on the ground towards her. In glorious black n white.

Did these guys have a second album out in 93?? I just got something called 'Loud & Ugly' from a band called Crash Alley. Says it came out independently in 1993 but has NO other info at all, aside from song titles. Haven't listened to it yet.

 

Funny thing - I used to talk to Jason Phelps all the time when he was in a band called Frickin' A a couple years back.

I actually prefer the ballsier 2nd album. Nice Sven Gali/Skid Row flavoured hard rock disc with a couple of gems.

Actually I don't think it is ... look at the band member's names. None match up at all and while the 'Loud & Ugly', etc. band seemed to have some trouble keeping a steady lineup it seems to be the singer's baby, so to speak, which means Jason wouldn't have been in this band at all.

I have to admit I always just assumed it was the same band, but only ever had CDRs of the albums so I'm not sure either way. The fact of the matter is they sound completely different so it wouldn't surprise me at all to find out they're completely different bands with the same name.

Yo, what all do you want to know? I'd be glad to answer any questions. We were in high school when that tape was recorded, 1991. We recorded a second set of tunes but never put it out because our drummer quit and we ended up breaking up. The 'Loud and Ugly' band.... not us. There was another Crash Alley from AZ (I think) and they look like they had more success than we did. We did it for a few years and all went our separate ways. I still play in a couple bands in Cincinnati and Phelps is still having success in the music biz. Bateman is a neighbor of mine here in Cincinnati but not actively playing. Don't know much about Williams. Last I heard he moved back to Seattle and hooked up with a night club owner from Bangkok, doing acoustic gigs at a chain of restaurant / night clubs.

 

Hit me up if anyone wants anymore info. And thanks for the interest. Kind of odd I stumbled across this music board.

Yes I still have it and I think I found the 2nd cassette someone else mentioned earlier.

As for parting with it, well that is another story...
