  1. Rev'lon Red-Dual Demo Anthology

is this the 'bubbleglam era' disc they are selling thru their myspace or something different?

    Different...

    From their myspace page...

NEW 9-SONG CD featuring eight re-EQ'd effervescent classics from the band's now-discontinued "Dual Demo Anthology", as well as one NEW song entitled "Break Me" from the band's forth-coming EP entitled "Introduction Scarcely Required - Vol. 3" (from their forth-coming full length LP "Something Old, New, Borrowed & Crued").

The cd I have has 9 songs on it that are from two (Rev'lon Red and Suicide City) old demo's. Sounds like the BGE CD has 9 songs total including the new tune and possibly some difference in the mix? The CD I have came out it 2002 and is from the band.

If you go to their webpage and click on stuff, the cd looks like those 2 out of print demos, which makes sense since that is what it is...

PM me the track listings on the BGE cd and lets compare.

Will do (next time i'm online at home).

So the disc you have is no longer availalbe?

  2. Random Aussie CD story...

Was at a pawn shop on the weekend, and amongst all Geoffs old Scandalus CD's i saw the spine of a Just Strait CD... COOL. until i pulled it out to find the cover insert was missing and replaced with some ugly dude who looked like MIchael Bolton. Searched the rest of the store.. but nothing.

Is that some super rare Aussie band? I've not heard of them.

A similar sh*tty thing happened to me in Manly once, at Cash Converters where I found The Brave's debut. I was so happy, until they couldn't find the actual CD to put in the case. :(

I duno what its like at all.. i vaguely remember lindsay having a few copies for sale for a long time, comparing to CHoirboys perhaps?... but i jsut couldnt be bothered buying a cd without cover, so i bought you back your Scandalus cd's instead.... whats your address again Geoff? And do you want all 18 copies?

I've sold quite a few 'just strait' cds for around the $40 mark. they are good trade material.

Off the top of my head I can't recall exacctly what they sound like except for the fact that they have that 'typical' Aussie 90s rock sound. On my comment on the main page I have compared them to Axcel, Kickstart and Noiseworks.

  3. Big Bad Noise should be easy to get ... and that album is probably one of the best ever aussie releases.

If you like that, then track down the acoustic version... big bad & acoustic that was released a year or 2 back. Really good acoustic album.

I've actually been thinking of picking up the latest versions of the angels cds with all the bonus tracks. Just waiting to see them at a good price.

  4. double post - KAZAAM!

Like Lindsay, I'm waiting on about 50 discs. Including Crazy Lixx. :)

    Post is very slow. :(

    50 discs!

Did you just win the lottery?

Where have you been ordering from of later?

Any good $US sites you can recommend so I can take advantage of the good aussie $ at the moment.

  5. Sic Vikki - kiss me in french (Jap) - and smells like an ashtray

there's nothing worse than a french kiss that tastes like an ashtray!

btw, what did you think of this disc?

I always thought it was ok, but just lacking that something to make it good/great (like 'Fallin In Lust... Again')

  6. i pretty much reckon that a band like bon jovi, motley or kiss could record what ever they want to these days with out much record label interference. I think they just choose to record what they currently do.

Bands like Jovi, Motley, Kiss are gonna sell regardless of what they release, the record labels are releasing and selling the name more than what is on the disc. If these sorts of bands wanted to stay the same.. they could, however if they want to change, they can.

On the otherhand, bands that didn't survive the transition as well - Skid Row, Cinderella, Dokken, Britny Fox, ect... these calibre of bands would be at the mercy of record labels (if they wanted a deal).

  7. Donots - 'The story so far (Ibbtown Chronicles)' ; more demos and b-sides and to be honest, most of these are better than a lot of official releases from bands. I think there's a few 'Pocketrock' b-sides here and there were some of the best Donots songs I've heard on this one. Can't wait to hear again. Hardcore Superstar fans should also check out these guys.

Where can I look them up?

What hardcore era would you compare them too?

  8. The more I hear about L.A. Guns the more I hate them. I'm starting to wish both bands would disappear so people would shut up about it. They were a second rate band at best and would be no real loss if gone.

What the hell are you on about?!?!?! :yikes:

LA Guns were/are a sensational band.

I don't know whether you're just making these comments to stir the pot a bit, but saying that LA Guns were only a 2nd rate band just highlights your naievity on the issue. I bet if they were from Tulsa you'd be telling us they were the best band in the world.

The comments on the vocal style were waaay off... saying they they are suited to candy coated glam. These guys were the pioneers of sleaze.

And the albums.... s/t , cocked and loaded and hollywood vampires are some of the top albums in the genre. Even some of their later stuff is top quality - tales form the strip and waking the dead. I'm guessing you haven't really listened to the LA Guns before.

If you dislike them that much, why are you in this thread anyway? Surely there's a thread soemwhere discussing generic hair metal that you'd like far more.

  9. I checked out a few cd stores whilst I was in perth. 1 Place I walked out with Wildland, 21 Guns, Atmosfear... and a handful of others. I was hoping to get some more time and go back there but didn't get the chance.

There's 1-2 stores here in Adelaide that still stock a reasonable amount of 2nd hand discs. Last time I went to 1 of these I walked out with something like 15 discs. They had a whole heap of what looked like mid-80s metal on cd that I was tempted to buy but passed cos I didn;t know enough to take the chance. Haven't been back there in a while....
