    Nascar

you know, I'm getting pretty tired of nascar. Not the racing but of the organization. they talk out of both sides of their mouth so much. Like the fact that they won't finish a race under green if it goes over the "advertised" length. They say that they advertise a certain length, in yesterday's case 500 miles. what would it have hurt to run a green-white-checker? They sure don't have a problem cheating the fans out of a race. If it would have rained on the 250 mile lap and they couldn't restart the race they would have called it. How about the fans who paid to see a 500 mile race, the "ADVERTISED" length.

last night went to see the USAR Late Model touring series at the local track and none other then the son of Nextel star Rusty Walace was racing. Pretty good show overall.
  5. yes, Jimmie is the cousin of Ronnie, Donnie and Johnny Van Zant of Skynyrd and 38 Special fame. Jimmie brings a harder more straight up rock attitude but still has deep roots in southern rock. He also sounds a LOT like Ronnie so most Skynyrd fans will be happy. http://www.scpublicity.com/jvz/jvz.htm

  8. from melodicrock.com and Jim Peterik And lastly, Jim chimes in some added enthusiasm for the upcoming 38 Special record, which is really beginning to sound like something special. His comments read: "I am really excited about the release of the new 38 Special album entitled Drivetrain. I must say I am totally blown away! This thing rocks. Don Barnes had been prepping me to expect a harder sound but nothing could have prepared me. The band is TIGHT! To me some of the standouts of the ones I had the pleasure of co-writing are the opening cut Something I Need (written a few years back during one of my trips to Atlanta to write with Danny and Don), Hurts Like Love which I just found out will be their first single, Quick Fix, which I wrote with Donny Vanzant (great vocal, Donny- you've never sounded better), Make Some Sense Of It, (written in Jacksonville ) and the real sleeper, Sheriff's County Line. (Also written in Jacksonville with 38 and the extra help of Johnny Van Zant). This last one is a real story song which tells the tale of the sheriff of Sheriff's County, his lovely but flirtatious daughter Estelle, and his favorite deputy named Calhoun who ultimately betrays him. Film at 11. This song I am particularly proud of because it goes where few songs of mine have ever gone. Please check it out."

  12. I got this week Guardian - bootleg DVD Firehouse - primtime Wanderlust (Bill Leverty from Firehouse) ST Nineteen88 - long live rock & roll
  13. My full review of the new CD ADRIANGALE - CRUNCH Let me say off the top that I love this CD. This has to be one of the best albums in the last 10 years. If only the likes of Bon Jovi and Def Leppard had the guts to write and play like this still. Jamie’s voice is sounding as good as I have ever heard it and that goes back a decade. Vic’s playing and writing is great. He should be in the top tier of songwriters in the melodic rock field today. His name should be known to the masses. Def Leppard would do good to take notice. His solos have such a great feel to them like Richie Sambora, they hit you perfect. Vic’s drum playing is solid. Scott’s bass sets an infectious groove throughout the entire album and sounds mixed prefect. Last but not least Scott Miller---He lives up to the promise. Scott brings a fresh kick to the band and a great style. the best I can explain is the flair and flash of C.C. Deville with the precision and technique of Zakk Wylde. The total sound of the CD if basically perfect. Great layers, hooks, sing along chouses and the mix is amazing. no need to read the lyrics because the music and Jamie’s voice have a prefect mix and clarity you can hear every word. If Def Leppard heard this they would be jealous. Breaking The Stride---nice introduction to the CD. sets a good tone and you can feel what is to come. Crunch--I’m not use to waiting so long for the chorus to kick in but it works. The little Feel The Fire riff in the middle of it reminds us how far the band has progressed. Very nice song and feel Faith---Amazing song. Smacks you in the face and doesn’t stop. Love the lyrics and the message it has. maybe the best new rock song I have heard in 8 years, or at least since Steel Dragon’s songs on the Rock Star soundtrack. Without A Moments Notice -- What a song. A power ballad for the ages. if it was 1989 this would have ruled dial MTv for weeks on end. I have a friend who can’t listen to the song because of the line ‘and the one you swore devotion doesn’t want you round” It just tears him up. Six years ago this would have been “my theme song” because it seemed like everything was falling down around me. Now with my wife having a baby in less than 8 weeks the song takes on a total different meaning. make every moment count for something. Tougher Than It Looks -- another great song on a CD full of great songs. I like the lyrics a lot but I always stumble on the lyrics “Lion’s den of crooks” I find myself singing “Lion’s Den Of Thieves” almost every time, I can’t stop myself and I don’t know why. LOL. When In Rome -- to me this is the swagger song on the CD. It took me a couple of spins to warm up to this one but now I really like it. Some spots just give me a deja vu feel of Guardian. Long Gone -- nice rocker with a great groove. Love the sing a long chorus that kicks in. Love the Over, Said and Done whispers. I know a couple of people I would like to dedicate this to. The Thin Line -- This one fight’s to be called the best song on the album. I love the “cruchier” feel to the song. this is where I think of Zakk Wylde the most. It has a great feel to the song. kind of angry and dark but signature AdrianGale at the same time. I love the aggressive feel to the song. Maybe the rest of the melodic rock bands should get out of the way. Question -- this one is still the low point on the CD for me. the more I listen to it the more I like it, though it has taken a while to grow on me. This isn’t a bad song at all, just compared to the other songs that rate between 98%-100% this one is just ok. Freedom --Good & Bad. I love the dedication, love the sound of the instrumental. overall it is very solid. kind of “Top Gun’ish” but who to say that is a bad thing. a very solid piece of playing. love when two guitar’s solo together. Hey, I’m a huge Skynyrd fan (3 guitar attack) and the twin attack of Night Ranger. Now for the bad. I’m not much for instrumentals. To open a CD with a kickin’ instrumental is ok but just MY personal taste instrumentals don’t do much for me especially in the middle of a disc, just breaks up the feel and flow but like i said that is just me. This Time -- I saw someplace that said Shania Twain meet’s Bryan Adams. Almost perfect but I have to throw Trixter in there too. What a great, fun, happy poppy song. Great for blasting with the top down on a summer night in a candy apple red 66 Mustang. Last Call -- Wow, what a way to end the album. It took me a couple of spins but it hit me. It is typical AG material but I also get an early Danger Danger feel to the song. Kind of a D2 melodic ballad, Which makes this one of my favorite songs too. After the song end’s all I want is MORE but alas, I have to start the CD over and do it all again. Guy’s, I love this CD. If only the “big name” bands would put this kind of effort into a CD they might still be a larger market for “our kind of music”. I raise my glass and toast one of the band’s that still carry a torch for great fun rock with a positive message, sing along songs and the spirit of being “free”. Thank you for a great batch of songs.
  14. who coudn't like this cd? You will love this thing.
  15. You know what the say about Ohio right? they are just transplanted Kentucky folk who have retired from the coal mines. and no, that isn't a slam to coal miners. my grandad was a miner. my father-in-law is a miner and my best friend is a miner. here in my part of Va the coal mines was all we had for a long time. my town was founded as a mining communtity

  17. this week i got AdrianGale - Crunch Gretchen Wilson - Here For The Party
  18. ok, not going to give a long rave about the cd. I think it is great. Wouldn't expect anything less from this band. Jamie's vocals are amazing. Vic's writing and playing are wonderful (let's not forget he not only rips on the guitar but is very solid behind the drum kit) The bass is solid and sets the groove perfect then we have Scott----a welcome addition to my knowledge of guitar names. Scott lives up to his billing and pulls out some amazing stuff. only a couple of weak spots on the cd but when everything else rates 100% the two low spots still rates 85%, much better than a lot of band's best song's on albums now-a-days. One last comment--the riff's in The Thin Line sounds influenced by Zakk Wylde. anyone else get that feel?
  19. An elderly woman walked into the Bank of Canada one morning with a purse >full of money. She wanted to open a savings account and insisted on >talking to the president of the Bank because, she said, she had a lot of >money. > >After many lengthy discussions (after all, the client is always >right) an employee took the elderly woman to the president's office. > >The president of the Bank asked her how much she wanted to deposit. She >placed her purse on his desk and replied, "$165,000". The president was >curious and asked her how she had been able to save so much money. The >elderly woman replied that she made bets. > >The president was surprised and asked, "What kind of bets?" > >The elderly woman replied, "Well, I bet you $25,000 that your testicles >are square." > >The president started to laugh and told the woman that it was impossible >to win a bet like that. > >The woman never batted an eye. She just looked at thepresident and said, >"Would you like to take my bet?" > >"Certainly", replied the president. "I bet you $25,000 that my testicles >are not square." > >"Done", the elderly woman answered. "But given the amount of money >involved, if you don't mind I would like to come back at 10 o'clock >tomorrow morning with my lawyer as a witness." > >"No problem", said the president of the Bank confidently. > >That night, the president became very nervous about the bet >and spent a long time in front of the mirror examining his >testicles, turning them this way and that, checking them over again and >again until he was positive that no one could consider his testicles as >square and reassuring himself that there was no way he could lose the >bet. > >The next morning at exactly 10 o'clock the elderly woman arrived at the >president's office with her lawyer and acknowledged the $25,000 bet made >the day before that the president's testicles were square. > >The president confirmed that the bet was the same as the one made the >day before. Then the elderly woman asked him to drop his pants etc. so >that she and her lawyer could see clearly. > >The president was happy to oblige. > >The elderly woman came closer so she could see better and >asked the president if she could touch them. "Of course", said the >president. "Given the amount of money involved, you should be 100% >sure." > >The elderly woman did so with a little smile. Suddenly the president >noticed that the lawyer was banging his head against the wall. He asked >the elderly woman why he was doing that and she replied, "Oh, it's >probably because I bet him $100,000 that around 10 o'clock in the >morning I would be holding the balls of the President of the Bank of >Canada!"
